  1. Nice 2 door, I wish mine was a 5spd. Ive seen a couple 2 door XJs with the vent windows in the junkyard, I never thought about pulling them, because I never needed them, might be a nice upgrade to do to my XJ eventually.
  2. That truck actually used to belong to CrankShaftKid. I know he sold it a few years back, and now whoever bought it from him was trying to sell it. I believe the dealer probably called them up and gave them a low offer and they took it. I had a dealer call me and offer me a ridiculously low offer for an explorer had for sale while back.
  3. I had a really bad short, in the harness where my gauges didnt work, my interior lights didnt work, and would kill my battery in no time. But between me and my dad we were bale to track down a few wires that had opened up from moving the wiring harness out of the way to weld in the inner fender. Things left to do now is... -probably add an adj front track bar, -get an alignment, -replace the front brake pads(already have them) -replace door panels, and power window switch -replace front speakers -add a muffler and tail pipe -Paint it -add rocker guards -thats pretty much it for now
  4. How it looks as of right now
  5. I had already been keeping an eye out on a set of barely used 31 BFG A/Ts a customer had returned to my job, well I went ahead and bought them for this project, Went ahead and refinished the wheels, Then after looking for the last couple months for a color matched header panel, I finally found one, after I already bought a patriot blue one and installed it, ended up buying it anyway and selling the blue one,
  6. Then I pressure washed the seats and scrubbed them using Dawn dish washer soap, and let them sit out to dry in the sun for a few days. Also order new carpet which I trimmed and installed. Seats installed Started putting the body back together and aligning all the panels, Put the front bumper, tow hooks, fog lights, and inner plastic fender wells.
  7. Time for an update........ So last I left, I had installed an overhead console and cleaned up the plastics in the interior. Since then I have....... Removed the inner fender Welded in a new one, And sealed and painted it using Duplicolor rattle can paint match, And put everything back together
  8. Thanks man, I didnt really mind either or, but after seeing more 4 door XJs than 2 door, I think I prefer the 2 door, just because you don't see them as often. Although you are right, a 4 door is more pratical, but none of my cars are practical, so it doesnt matter lol, this XJ is actually my most practical vehicle, I can fit 5 people legally and safely and have room for other things, can't do that in a TJ or MJ, or a Mustang. The next one I'm going to look for will be a 4 door and 5spd.
  9. I just think dual exhaust on a 4 cyl would sound as bad as a ricer. And he doesn't say how many miles. If this is worth $20000 then I guess my dad's 86 Volvo 240 with 68k original miles is worth $30000........
  10. Dunno how that happened, the one you saw isn't even in Houston, but the link said Houston.craigslist, anyways fixed now. The one you saw I might make a drive and go take a look at on Sun.
  11. As the title says.... http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/4752176567.html
  12. Not a Comanche, but I towed my Cherokee on 31s with my dads f150, didnt have any issues with tow requirement. If I ever doubt the tow requirement, I just go onto their website and check to see if they'll allow it or not. Now I will say I was barely able to tie down the 31s, but I was able to do it safely. The person at Uhaul just told me if the straps didnt work I would have to provide my own.
  13. Welcome to the club. Awesome start, definitely have your work cut out for you. Glad you saved it from the crusher though, looks too good to be used as a donor, let alone be junked.
  14. They look pretty good, I'm actually doing the same thing, but using fiberglass on the backside to hold them together, never thought about plastic weld, just couldn't figure out how to mount them, but I guess using the brackets and welding new studs to them would work,
  15. I emailed this person twice, they never responded, they used to have a pic on the ad, from what I can tell in the pics when they were on the ad, its a 2wd, bench seat, basic steel wheels, plastic liner, originally red, rattled canned olive drab green, body looked pretty straight, but pictures can lie
  16. Don't know how far youre willing to go, but Ive found a few good ones around here, ill have to look for the ads again, but most of everything around here is rust free, I was lucky to get mine for what I got it for, although its taken me a lot to get to where its in decent shape after PO destroyed it.
  17. Those are 03-06 TJ seats, been thinking about using a pair that I have in my 99 TJ in my MJ,
  18. This is an older pic of my truck on low tread 31s with a 4.5 in SUA lift. The rear sat a little high, I have since then lowered it a little using xj shackles and adjusted the front axle with adj control arms. And even older pic when I had the same wheel and tire combo shelbyluvv posted above And for suspension reference, this was after I lowered it, and put 265/75/16s which are like 32s on.
  19. I don't really have any high mileage cars except for maybe my 99 TJ has roughly 170k miles, and my dad just bought a 97 Volvo 850R Station Wagon, has 197k miles on it, I drove it from San Antonio to Houston when we first got it, no problems at all. Ive worked on plenty of customers DD cars that come into my job that have a ton of miles on them, 90s 4runner=490k miles, late 80s crx=520k miles, 99 f350(diesel)=650k miles, etc. I did have an 88 MJ eliminator once with 320k miles drove fine except for the rod it had thrown due to the abusive PO, I'm sure f it wasn't for that, it would've been completely fine. Its all about how you take care of them.
  20. I appreciate the input guys, how long did it take y'all to receive your samples, I ordered them last Wed morning, still no show,
  21. ok cool, thanks guys, if you don't mind me asking, what options did you guys get and or recommend? You think just go with plush cut pile? Did either of y'all go with the mass backing? if so is it worth it? I'm thinking their charcoal or dark grey would best resemble Agate, but I can get the samples to clarify,
  22. So I'm actually looking for carpet for my XJ instead of my MJ. Obviously I know this is in the MJ tech, but I will probably use the same source if I can for my MJ when I get to that point; and I figured I would get a better response here than in other forums. I'm just wondering who yall have gotten carpet from, who to go with and who not to go with, quality of the carpet, does it seem like OEM or can you tell its cheap after market stuff? I'm looking to get Agate color carpet, OEM looking and fitting. Just trying to figure out my options before I try to do the impossible with my original carpet, or go through the trouble of getting one out of a junkyard. And I know somebody is going to say, just bedline the inside, easier to clean so on so forth blah blah blah; I prefer carpet, always have, I think bedliner is for truck beds only, unless you have a strictly offroad or hunting truck, just my opinion, I even kept carpet in my TJ. Ive searched around and read on another forum to use these people, anybody have any experience with them? Any and all advice is much appreciated. http://teamcherokee.com/carpet-set-complete-full-floor-jeep-cherokee-1984-2001/
  23. I remember that day like it was yesterday, I was in class, and my teacher had turned on the news on showing it live, the principal came over the intercom and annouced for all teachers to turn off their tvs, my teacher refused and said this is history; one of the best teachers I ever had, I'm glad he went against the principal and left the tv on. On another note, I actually visited NYC for the first time ever this past summer, and I stopped by the twin towers memorial, it was pretty depressing being there and just thinking about what had happened almost 13 years earlier. Here are a couple pics for yall.
  24. Picked up a overhead console and clean headliner at the junkyard, both cost me about the same as redoing the old headliner on my own. Also cleaned up some of the dash panels, and replaced a couple that were in worst shape, and put a factory radio in And removed the the bald, worn out, 15 year old, over-sized tires, and put some temporary rollers for now,
