  1. you can math it all day long, but you won't know for sure what's what with springs until you get it all together.
  2. I would soak it in gear oil overnight. but essentially the metal of the bushing itself is your lube.

  4. have you checked all the sockets? certain your rear bulbs are the correct dual filaments?
  5. stock trackbar or aftermarket?
  6. That's to keep people from climbing on the big letters.
  7. center the tire in the wheelwell and then dial in your caster. youtube should have tons of vids.
  8. dirtbound was in the middle of changing buildings the last few months. their company was pure chaos for a while there. but they've got a big new space to fill up with fancy machines now and I expect their wait times to drop significantly in the future.
  9. sweet!

    Tool Talk

just bought a new tool bag! it's a diaper bag. got it used for 5 bucks so I figure it's worth a shot. super padded on the side that touches my body, has front pocket that are vertical to hold my hand tools, and the inside is bright orange. we shall see how tough it is. (eventually, as I'm not sure I want to risk another junkyard day for a while) Tomorrow I'll start transferring tools from my Swiss backpack (which has set a very high bar in durability) and see how it all fits. if anyone is looking for a budget junkyard backpack, seek out a Swiss brand from your local resale shops.

you guys can link those vids right here into the forums.
  12. the first sentence says he had no signal from the sensor. I'm assuming that means he tested it and it was dead.
  13. I am a fan of minivans...
  14. 2.5L + 5speed would give 4.10 axles... but that's not 1700 bucks worth of gearing.
  15. My 86 v6 had v belts. I wanna say they all did on the jeeps. Can't speak for the Chevy cars/trucks that got the 2.8
  16. can you scream "repaint" any louder than putting the emblems and stickers in completely wrong locations?
  17. um, what? how can it run without the throttle position sensor plugged in?
  18. oh right, I remember that.
  19. the link in my signature has threads on testing the various sensors. I would test the TPS and idle controller.
  20. on the topic of locked XJ rear hatches, I've gotten pretty good at crawling inside and getting the hatch open. once you pry that hatch panel off, it's easy.
  21. are you wanting a 2wd trans or a 4wd trans?
  22. that's a huge clue there. that tells me the CPS is working and the computer is working. do you have a multimeter?
  23. I know. 86 shouldn't have it and the 2.5 shouldn't have it. but dying repeatably after 2 seconds is exactly what a failed resistor would do so I figured I'd ask just in case a previous owner had it installed. what are you getting out of the CPS? is that signal getting past the connector? does the truck keep running if you put gas or starter fluid in the TB?
