  1. no idea what has changed, but the Jeep is out of the "limp mode" that has been plaguing it for literal years. I don't think it was a legit computer-induced limp mode, but it has had lots of issues with choking hard from heavy throttle at lower speeds. except yesterday and today it performed flawless. I do hate problems that "fix" themselves.

could be a dash from another MJ @1999 MJ
  3. tires are installed! and even better, that noise I feared was a wheel bearing was the old tires all along. side note, walmart isn't kidding when they say "Product May Vary From Picture"

tinted windows doesn't refer to what we normally think of with the plastic sheet stuck to it, it's just that the glass has a slight tint built into it. as soon as you see a plain glass window you'll instantly understand. GEC is likely a reused code and those words apply to a later model Chrysler product. and those 3 letter codes aren't abbreviations, they are just random letters. there should be WAY more codes for your truck, but a ton of data for the AMC years was lost before they got into the chrysler computer system. if you go look at a 92's build sheet you'll see what I mean.
  5. we've been watching a McDonalds get slowly built over the last few weeks (it's on the way back to his house from preschool) and I promised we'd swing by for an ice cream the day they opened. today was that day
  6. started a mini-me Jeep in 1/39th scale. currently waiting for the green to dry. it's not quite dark enough, but it's also an 02 body. not a lot of choice out there in KJ toys. but either way it'll be close enough for a 4 year old to know it's Uncle Pete's Jeep.
  7. blew the ring/pinion gear teeth running 30" tires on a 2wd 4.0/stick daily driver. ended up bending the axle. though that might have been due to the next half mile of driving since there's no way I was walking the rest of the way to work if the truck still technically moved. lol
  8. well done good sir! she will be waiting patiently for you upon your return (just be sure the mice can't get to her!)
  9. out of curiosity, is your front axle a 99 or a 99 1/2? it only matters when you get to doing brakes. I recently discovered this tidbit after installing what turned out to be a 99.5 into a friend's truck. 99.5 take 2000+ rotors for some stupid reason.
  10. I think there's a wiring diagram for that in the link in my signature?
  11. settled on the RoadOne Calvery AT in a 265/70. 111 buckaroos each at wally world (which is currently a bit more than half off!) hopefully they are a decent tire.
  12. welcome to the addiction!
  13. ahhh... gotcha. I'll set it aside and see if any of my HO clusters are naked later on.
  14. that trim panel may not have come from this exact cluster. the hole is missing from the other 4 clusters I have before me.
  15. I'm a sucker for a nice serrated blade, though they can be a pain to keep sharp and so all my carries are straight. lambo or ferrari?
  16. been pricing tires. I think I'll be going with some no name walmarts, as brand name tires are way out of my price range. something that looks cool, but is 100-120 each (plus mounting). can't seem to find anything used in my area in a 265/70 or 275/70. the ol' girl doesn't really see snow anymore and is retired from towing, so I'm not too picky as long as they take a balance and don't look like generic "car tires".
  17. horn works again. and by that I mean I plugged it back in. I had unplugged it during the episodes where the key fobs had stopped communicating and it set the alarm off every time I used the key to open the door.
  18. leds and resistors are installed in the front turns. plus I figured out how to keep my phone holder from vibrating due to the engine. it was nothing a wood screw and a little hot glue couldn't solve
  19. finally installed the trim I painted months ago and figured it was time to change out the turn housings (sockets needed replacement and the housings are practically free if purchased as a unit)
