  1. I'm "creative". :D
  2. Eventually comancheclub will have pages like that, but even better. :D
  3. My kit came with one, but not all of them do.

    I rolled it!

    It's convertible time! :D
  5. What condition was the pilot bearing in?
  6. I used some cheapie rubber mounts. And added a second for triangulation and trimmed My crossmember is custom, but something like that should work on the stock one.

Something tells me he never corrected his speedometer.
  8. I had a "bump" when my exhaust was loose and hitting the transmission crossmember.
  9. I don't remember a gasket back when I was screwing around with the exhaust on my 88, but maybe it had welded itself to the manifold?
  10. With the addition of lockers, you should start thinking about axle strength. What is your budget?
  11. Then it must have been the entire sending cuircut that was switched. Not sure if swapping wires would fix it or kill it. :???:
  12. In 91 the gas gauge was reversed. Or was it the fuel pump? I don't know for sure, but the change happened in 91 and that's why your needle is reversed.

Unfortunately Mythbusters didn't actually "prove" anything. A single experiment on the highway does not a "scientific study" make. And the "water tunnel" didn't actually prove anything except that the little vortex does form. According to what they showed on TV, it's pure speculation that the vortex has anything to do with drag. They should have tried to measure drag on the little model or run the highway test over and over and over again to eliminate all those other variables they didn't take into account. Now, I do believe that the tailgate is better up than down, but not because I watched the show. Auto manufacturers are desperate for every little mpg they can squeeze out of their thirsty pickups and if they could get a gain out of breeze-through tailgates, I'm sure they'd do it. I mean, they spent millions on MDS. Propping the tailgate open is, well, free.
  14. Yeah, I'd say you might want to look into that. :D
  15. Yeah, that's what I get for typing before my morning caffine. :ack: :loser: :shake: I should have said 89.5, but even then I think the cutoff is in September so that would be 89.75 :D
  16. If you've got the center console, it might fit in there (with customation of course). Otherwise, you could just sell the TJ one.

Back when the 88 was a 2wd DD, it always ran crappy Monday morning if it sat all weekend. :dunno:
  18. Any radio can be wired up (if you're willing to cut/splice wires), but there is not enough room in an MJ dash for the larger sizes of radios. I forget what it stands for, but a "DIN" is the size of a standard radio. Roughly 2"x7". A 1.5 DIN would be 3x7, half-DIN would be 1 x7 and 1/4 DIN is 1x3.5". My little eqalizer is a 1/4" DIN size.
  19. MJs have a single DIN size radio like most aftermarket units. The TJ came with a 1.5 DIN radio from the factory.
  20. This site can give you an idea of what's involved. Mostly it depends on how cheap you can get parts. http://www.jeeptech.com/convtrans/ax15swap.html
  21. "Early" can refer to just the 86 (which won't have the 4.0L) or more broadly to anything pre-late-90. 87-90 4.0L MJs got stuck with a crappy manual transmission plus the aforementioned Renix system. It's easy to swap in an AX-15 and any 15 year od truck will need some attention paid to the old sensors. Personally I think people that say to avoid the early trucks are either wusses who avoid wrenching at all cost, or sneaky bastids trying to keep prices down for their ownb selfish needs. :D What you want to buy depends entirely on what you want in the end.
  22. Very tough. You'll essentially need a complete donor vehicle and even then you need to make some semi-serious mods to your truck to make the 4.0L fit. A better swap is the Chevy 3.1/3.4 engine. See these links for details: http://www.off-road.com/jeep/cherokee/x ... 4swap.html http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Pro ... ect_XJ.htm

  24. :offtopic: Now that we're thoroughly off topic, the best remedy I've found to alleviate the pain of hornet stings is raw onion. Just cut off a piece and put it on the pain.
  25. Wow, it finally looks like an MJ and not a chop-shop victim! :D Very nice! Are the front tires as close to the rear of the wheelwells as it appears?
