    My MJ hates me

Then I'd get a new new axle. That's a lot of money to me. But I guess it'll be practically brand new after this.

    My MJ hates me

I'd just go get a new axle. It'd be cheaper. :D
  3. The gas tank is also bolted to the bed. I've seen the underside of my truck and that bed is never coming off for any reason. Rust sucks. I don't recommend the stupid flex tube (it got punctured the first trip out when it contacted the front driveshaft) but I routed my pipe up close to the trans. Seemed like a good idea at the time, I just used the wrong material. After the flex tube debackle I replaced it with a stock piece. Haven 't hit it on anything yet so I'm just going to run it that way until I do. I have more pressing matters for my limited funds now that I'm building my '90 up. :D Flex tube Stock:
  4. It's never too late. You should easily be able to sell the 4.0L to raise enough funds for a 3.4L block. :D But since you have a complete XJ, it is technically more possible than before. Get a shop manual for the 92 XJ. You'll need to swap in the entire drivetrain and wire harness and dash, plus the front sheetmetal (for the 4.0L radiator crossmember and hood latches) and hood.
  5. I would go with 4.10s if you're buying an axle, 4.56 if you're paying to get them installed.
  6. Not that I've heard of.
  7. Hung up?!? Just hit it harder! :brows: What are you going to do, break it? That's a busted 60 shaft and a busted 70 shaft. The 60 supposedly happened right after this pic was snapped, the 70 broke 50 ft later. Those are 37s and I believe the dodge is running a 5.9L.
  8. I'll work on getting some window stickers. Oh, and I called on the magnets today and they won't be ready till late next week. I hate stuff that has to be out-sourced. The stickers will all be done in-house so if I go in to talk with him on Monday, they should be done before the magnets. :headpop:
  9. I'd run a Hi-Pin 60 with 35s. :D Nay-sayers be damned!
  10. It's a very tough swap into an 86. Lots of changes took place to the front end to accomodate the 4.0L in 87. Try looking into the 3.4L swap. It's basically a newer/better version of the 2.8L. http://www.off-road.com/jeep/cherokee/x ... 4swap.html http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Pro ... ect_XJ.htm
  11. If I was paying to get gears to go with 33s, the minimum I would get is 4.56. I have 4.10s only because they were the steepest gear offered by Ford from the factory. When I regear, I'll be doing 4.88s (I have a manual trans).
  12. 3.73 is a hard ratio to find in a Dana 30. Might be why all the 3.73 8.8s are left behind. :D Oh, and 3.54, 3.73, and 4.10 were all offered behind the Ford v6 and the v8.
  13. Something like that. MJs have the leafs directly below the frame, while XJs have the leafs mounted outside the frame. Of course, the MJ frame rails are slightly wider apart than the XJ uni-frame rails back there so the measurements aren't off by a whole leaf-width on each side.
  14. Welding IS required. But it's not hard welding, so any competant welder can do it. People have been known to bolt everything together snuggly and then drive gingerly to a nearby welder to have the perches burned in place.
  15. 87-90. 91-92 were Chrysler. The condition of the MJ is FAR more important than what fires the sparkplugs.
  16. a slightly narrower position.
  17. What about a guided trail tour? There were a few times last time where I would have gladly paid an extra $10 to know where we were. :shake: Plus we can then get access to the other 900 acres. Don't know who's left to do the tour though if the rock crawling is going on.
  18. And that's why they don't become stickies. There's waaaaay too many of them. When we get the rest of the site up and running, I promise we'll have tech pages for thngs like that. But back to the question at hand, most everything will work just fine, but you'll need to get your rear driveshaft shortened (the XJ one is 12" too short) and the rear axle perches will have to be repositioned.
  19. The graphics guy and I will be discusing stickers when I go in to pick up the magnets. What length of banner are you picturing?
  20. Pricing will be done like PBS, meaning on a donation basis, so you can send whatever you'd like. The magnets were concieved as more of a durable business card that you can pass along to other MJ owners you meet (or left on an MJ in a parking lot) so whomever sends something will be getting a handful of magnets. Of course, you can feel free to keep some for your own rigs. :D All procedes will go towards paying for the costs of the magnets and the annual bill for the site. If all of that gets taken care of, any leftover moneys will go towards future comancheclub purchases so they can stip coming out of my pocket. I even have an unused account at my bank that I'll be setting aside for everything so I don't have to put a ton of effort into all this. Oh, and I haven't heard anything from the graphics guy yet, so the magnets aren't in yet.
  21. Feel free to hotlink any of the pictures here: http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/vie ... uid=512063 Or lemme know if you have a prefered color combo I can whip up.
