I was having trouble remembering details about it and I figured that was because it was so long ago. But then it hit me, the leak I was remembering wasn't from the A/C, it was from the heater core dripping antifreeze in the cab! All sorts of memories came back with thoughts of that nasty smell. :ack: The plugged A/C drain line is pretty common though, I'm surprised no one else has chimed in on it.

Please don't say anything that you wouldn't say in front of your grandmother or a child. Also, there is to be no harassing of mods doing their mod duties. There's no need to feel bad because you are unsure of something or if you couldn't find what you were looking for using the "search" feature. Sorta. They are newer and so would likely not need a complete overhaul as you can expect with a 20 year old Dana 44. The main good points are disk brakes and they are common in junkyards. Since you're changing to 4.56s, the gears in the axle won't matter so just make sure the one you pick is in great condition with good brakes and intact e-brake cables. Also make sure what ever type of locker you want is available for the 8.8. Yes.

An XJ Dana 44 won't save you any effort. You'll still need to move the spring perches.

Just to through this out there, but I remember reading of some lift manufacturers having issues with their prebent tubing arms bending on the trail. Plenty of gussets were added until they ironed out the problems. Can't remember who it was though. :???:

Will anyone be leaving a vehicle in the parking lot during the day? I'm in a bit of a pickle in that I can't drive on the road with the 2 boggers, but then when I get to RORP I'll have one extra trXus that I need to put somewhere. I don't need 6 tires on the trail, but my 2 trail tires can't touch the road (seriously out of balance).

All this would be simple if I can get decent prices on batches of 50 or so. For anyone that didn't already see it, this is the US flag MJ And I whipped up an Canadian one today

Well, I haven't decided what to do yet. He says he can silkscreen the image directly onto the magnet material, but that would cost about a buck apiece and I don't know if there's a lower number limit. We can keep the magnets for hand-outs like was originally intended and then get actual stickers for our personal trucks. Or the text-only vinyl "ComancheClub.com" cut-outs about 12" long. I'm working on getting the longer vinyl lettering for the windshields. That will happen regardless. Still up in the air with the stars-n-stripes stickers. The plan was to just print them on some clear sticker plastic (because that would allow me to print up only a few at a time as needed), but now he says the ink is a bit translucent and the colors will turn "slightly darker" if you put it on a dark color surface, and that means bumpers, tinted windows, etc might have a problem. Of course, he didn't have any examples on hand for me to look at. Sigh, there was a time when I thought this would be a simple thing. What was I thinking? :nuts:

Hopefully after this weekend I can tell you how I like my new MX-6 shocks. Well, up front at least. I won't have time to fab up mounts for the rear before friday. Monotube, gas charged, and adjustible. :D

Time out. Hold your horses. Houston, we have a problem. Even though I explained exactly what the magnets would be used for upfront and was told that they were UV resistant and no paper substrate was used, it turns out that the magnets are indeed printed on paper which is then adhered to the magnet and laminated over, or something like that. I put one on my truck and it only took one light rain to turn the paper into mush. I'm so freaking mad there isn't an emoticon extreme enough to adequately convey my anger. I just got back from the graphics store and he said he'll get back to me later today about a silkscreening idea. sigh... I'll keep everyone posted.

They turned out great! They are the size of a buisiness card and designed so you can give them out to other MJ owners you meet or put them on your truck. The background is a really light grey and they are supposed to be UV resistant for a couple years. Still in the works are: - 4"x7" star-n-stripes MJ stickers - 12" long "ComancheClub.com" vinyl letters - 3' long "ComancheClub.com" windshield vinyl letters (I have 2 in my possesion that are white and go on the outside of the truck, but I'm working on ones that are reversed so that they are applied on the *inside* of the glass. That way the windshield wipers can't hurt the vinyl. If all you want are magnets, then I can send those out asap. If you want anything else, let me know here and I'll get on it. Prices are as follow: Donations! Send whatever you'd like and I'll give you a bunch of magnets. This site costs me a little under a hundred bucks a year and the magnets were $125 (minimum order quantity was rather large). Don't know yet what the other stickers/vinyl will cost. All proceeds will go into an account I've set up for our group. If for some reason more money comes in than I need to cover the expenses, the rest will go towards future comancheclub related stuff. I fab because it's fun. It lets me be creative and test new ideas. I'm broke too, but I'd still fab if I was rich, just with better tools. :D There are some things that I can't fab though. You won't catch me making some 4.88 gears anytime soon, and those are the next big things in my buildup. Lockers and gears. It sucks not having a disposable income. :(

You don't need the H.O. head. It just flows a bit better than the older heads. Either will work fine.

-Top of the windshield seal that dripped down inside the A-pillar. Might never have found that one if my 86 wasn't torn apart, -Aftermarket rear window seal on my 88, -Rear hood seal on my 88, leaked down a wire and through the firewall -Drivers side door on my 88, rain would literally come right through the gap at the top if the wind was blowing just right -Drivers side door on the 88, added this twice since I later on had a problem with rain dripping down the front edge of the wondow frame and coming inside the cab -A/C drain plugged on my 88, left puddles on the passenger side floor And I'm sure there's one or two I'm missing. They are a leak-prone truck and the dang rubberized carpet guarantees that anything that gets under the carpet will stay under the carpet. :headpop: -Oh and I've heard of water finding its way up from underneath the cab through small gaps in the floor.

I do believe that factory sliders were all 3-windows and the 4-window ones were aftermarket.

A stroker isn't much more expensive than a regular rebuild. There are guys out there that have spent an absolute fortune on them, but others have done it for reasonable costs. It bolts right in and you can retain the A/C, wiring, and drivetrain (depending on which drivetrain you have of course). Find out how much a 350 swap into an MJ/XJ costs before you compare it to a stroker. Plus, it is easier to swap a 350 into a shortwheelbase Jeeps than into ours.
