Is it making any noise? Get out your left-handed whats-it wrench and tighten up the little metal thingie for now. You'll definitely need to replace your doodad in short order, but I think you'll be fine for a while.

Ok, so here's the plan. I reviewed the artwork design last Friday and put in the down-payment today. In a week we should have a sample hat (yes! :D ) and then after approval the whole order will be made and shipped to me. I was worried for a while there that I wouldn't get to see a real sample and would end up dedicating such a huge chunk of change to an image on a piece of paper, but all looks well again. (until the next change in the plan)

All short bed tanks are the same, yes. Longbeds are different.

We're based at Old Key West. We only get to go once a year. :( And that's a LOT of pins!

Yeah, I think the main method of saving fuel was that it just sat in the garage because you couldn't stand driving it. :D

Nah...that's OK. I have never been there and I stay FAR away from that place. It's about a 35 minute drive from my house as I live about 2 miles North of the Orlando International Airport. Your loss. It's my favorite man-made place on the planet. :D Time share eh? A Disney place or the regular kind?

I think I remember someone putting a band clam around the axle shaft to keep the collar engaged. Memory's fuzzy on it though.

What's your budget? :brows:

I built my bumpers, crossmembers, and rocker guards that way. I cut and prefabbed everything and then took it to a pro for final welding. :D
-
You coming over to Disney to get it? :brows: Because I'm pretty sure I used up all of my "sidetrip favors" with that debacle a couple years ago getting those rustfree MJ leafs from that stupid junkyard that took all day.

Nope. longbed is 6" longer.

2.5L AMC 150 Gas Mileage
Pete M replied to 1987Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Taller than normal tires will hurt mpg and power (not to mention throw off your speedometer and all of your mpg calculations). Lots of MJ guys (me included) find the best plugs are the regular ol' copper ones. I would double check your rear axle ratio. There's always a small chance that the original broke and the replacement isn't 4.10. -
I fully expect them to arrive the day I leave for my Florida vacation (15th), thereby delaying them for another week. :headpop:

All I'm saying is that I need to see some 3rd party dynometer runs to even come close to convincing me. Even if it could possibly add hp, there are much better things to spend your money on.

Today I approved the artwork. I was a bit disappointed that it was just a plain image. A sample hat would have been awesome, but I was sorta expecting to at least see the stitch layout in the artwork. :( Whatever. Monday I'll be putting down the deposit and then they should take 2 weeks (or so I've been told).

2.5L AMC 150 Gas Mileage

What size tires? Original CAT? Done a tuneup recently? How fresh is you O2 sensor? -
Yeah. Although I'm not entirely sure where on up the chain the missing link is... :(

I called but the shop owner wasn't there and the assistant didn't know squat. I'll try again tomorrow. :(

A lot of the sorting is done by machines these days. :D And I don't know if your town does it, but if you take in all of the trash, you can sort out the biodegradables for future fertilizer.

Careful about getting your scientific info from comedians. No offense to P+T, but the problem isn't that recycling is bad like they say it is, but rather that the government was pushing to get recycling programs in place without properly studying what it takes to make them profitable. Recycling is indeed a good thing, but it needs to be run like a business and frequently it's not. That's the government's fault and they need to do better. These days there are ways to make it profitable. Heck, there's a privately owned dumpster at the high school across the street where they collect newspaper from the community and give part of the profit to the school. And I call BS on P+T's explanation on how recycling paper is bad. So they have to truck the old paper around to the various plants, yes? And so I guess that they grow the virgin trees in the vacant lot behind the paper mill? Phooey on that. Companies wouldn't use recycled paper if there wasn't profit to be had in doing so. I saw a show on the discovery channel recently that showed a company out in Cali that's making a profit from recycling everything. Oh, and I noticed that P+T never mentioned metals in their show. It takes an insane amount of energy to make aluminum from scratch but only a very little to simply melt down a pop can. And I believe steel and glass are the most recycled materials on the planet. Oh, and P+T need to get their heads out of each other's butts if they can't find any good uses for recycled materials. They sacrificed a lot of integrity for the sake of some laughs there. All recycling needs is the entrepreneurial spirit and some good ideas, and we've got plenty of both here in the US. :D

My mom is big on recycling. She can be a bit obsessive some times though.

Got a message on my phone today telling me to call them. Don't know if it was good news or such, but I wasn't in time to reply during business hours. I guess I'll find out tomorrow. Here's hoping. :D

Another Rusty's Lift Kit thread
Pete M replied to moparmatt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There isn't a definitive answer to that question. Some coils will give a bit more than the advertised height and lord knows that 20 year old leaf springs may not have their original arch in them. A SOA gives roughly 5.5" above the current height. It's not like buying brand new springs. -

Weld-on is super easy. You just need a buddy or nearby shop with a good welder. -
Waste of money either way in my opinion. :(
