  1. That's where he thought the title would be, but it wasn't. You can bet as soon as that title shows up in the mail I'll be taking a trip to the bank.
  2. I think Mini changed them.
  3. No idea where the plate went. :dunno: My bet is that it was stolen. It's pretty hard for a plate to just fall off.
  4. Come and listen to a story about a man named Pete... So my dad's 83 Z-28 has been in storage for a few years now and he really wanted to drive it this summer. On July 3rd I went over to the Secretary of State to get the plates updated. The SOS in Wyandotte had a huge line in it so I drove out to Woodhaven to try there. The line was shorter but the A/C was broken. But I toughed it out and waited my turn. When the lady looked through the paperwork she noticed that the VIN on the insurance paper was wrong. D'oh! So I walked out empty handed (except for a no-more-waiting-in-line pass). It was too late to call the Insurance company so he missed out on driving the car that weekend. The next week he got a hold of the Ins people and they faxed over the new papers. Upon closer inspection, the VIN was still wrong. So the next day he called and tried again. This time the correct papers were faxed and the next chance I got I went to the SOS. This time I was told that there was a hold on the plate because of a vehicular incident back in April of this year. No amount of explaining that the car hasn't moved in at least 4 years was going to get past this and she said I needed to bring in the title so she could use that to iron it out. So I walked out empty handed again. Dad and I spent the next couple days trying to track down the title with no luck (he hasn't seen it since the 80s). But he did find the original paperwork for the purchase back in '83. For giggles I went over to the Camaro to check out the plate. Of course it didn't match the number the SOS has so I unscrewed it and the next chance I got I took the plate and paperwork to the SOS. This time I talked to someone different and she told me that I was not authorized to take care of this matter and that Dad would need to fill out a form. So I walked out with this form in hand. Dad filled it out and the next chance I had I went back to the SOS. (by now I figure I'm getting maximum value out of that pass). This time I was told that the form was invalid. It seems that Dad made a mistake on it, crossed it out and wrote the correct number, thus invalidating the whole thing. So I walked out with a new form. Dad filled it out again and the next chance I got I went back to the SOS. This time everything seemed to be in order except that the car was no longer in the system. Neither the original plate, nor the incorrect plate nor the VIN was in the system. But fortunately all three were still under Dad's name in the computer so the lady was able to reissue a plate and title. So I finally walked out with a plate in hand. Yesterday Dad puts the plate on the car (which is stored in my Grandparents' garage) and drives home. . . . . . Some time between then and a half hour ago the plate vanished off the car. I can't wait til Monday's trip to the SOS. :D
  5. More important than an up or down vote is we're looking for additional opinions and input. Any other categories you'd like to see? Should there be more info about the owner? (favorite beer, band, whatever, things like that). If the truck is bone stock or 2wd, what items would you like to see? Or should I just modify the individual categories to reflect what the owner has done and what is unique about the MJ.
  6. I talk alot of BS you better double check. That is correct. I just checked my LWB and SWB. I know I just wanted him to take a walk :laughin: Yeah, yeah. I'll do that tomorrow when I drag the Co2 tank over to top off the 2 stupid leaky tires on the 90.

    My new ride

How fast can she go? :brows:
  8. Oh good. Saved me a trip across the street. :D
  9. Not sure. Could be a longbed/shortbed thing. I notice that the first 2 have the rear shackle a bit in front of the end of the frame and the last one is right at the end of the frame. I'll run over to mine and see what's up.

I cut a hole and set mine into the door:
  11. If you've got a rust free bed, you'd better be finding it a new home. :D Here's a couple pics of what the frame looks like:
  12. What about those add-on cowls?
  13. For what it's worth, I tend to use 800 for important shots (whether artistic or informational) and 600 for everything else.
  14. A local alternative to the EU side lights are trailer running lights. I picked myself up a set at Napa. And they had fancier ones too.
  15. I wouldn't worry too much about it. They can easily be swapped out for a different set of seats or adjusted (with some fab work) if they aren't quite right for you.
  16. Due to AMC using the GM 2.8L engine, the 2.5L has some odd GM characteristics, the starter and bellhousing bolt pattern are a couple.
  17. It's not a typical swap, so I have to imagine it all depends on how the install was completed. You might need to sit in it to know for sure.

Anything is better than the 20 year old factory junk, but for what it's worth I prefer to avoid paper speakers.
  19. Simply copy the "IMG code" address located under the pics and paste it here.
  20. Too lazy. I just deleted all the posts above it and made it a sticky.
  21. I'm on permanent vacation! :D Also called being unemployed. Or as I like to call it, temporary early retirement. 8) And if aemsee is referring to my truck (the red one in the water), I put the grille on upside down on purpose, just to be different. :D
  22. Did you leave a CC card behind? :brows:
  23. car-part.com shows the hub, rotor and calipers interchangeable between the years. I'll be back in town on Tuesday. Gimme a call if you haven't resoled the issue and I'll swing by to check it out.
  24. And yet I had 30s on my 2wd MJ and one day it started spitting out ring gear teeth. :dunno: It's really a hit or miss kinda deal. Just be prepared.
  25. Don't forget that the XJ axle needs the perches to be moved inboard a bit to match the MJ.
