Max lift stock brake lines?
Pete M replied to jeep_freek88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That should be fine. Just make sure that the lines don't snag on anything. -
My area had 3 new pull-yur-parts open up in the last few years. Oddly enough, the rules are a bit different between them. :dunno:

You have an extra "?v=0" at the end of each address. Delete that and add in your IMG tags and you'll be good to go.

is it possible to BLOW a rear main (leaking 4.0)
Pete M replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My rear main always leaked a little since I bought the 88. Then one day it spewed 5 quarts out in the span of about a half hour. -
That's not a problem on this one. :D She's the last of her kind. 3,391 5.0L HOs were made in '83. Dad ordered it just the way he wanted it.

I made a spreadsheet where I plugged in various numbers and got the inches equivalent. Much faster than using an online calc and I could always go back and reference it. for a 245/70r16 (variables are in bold): 245 / 25.4 = width ((245 / 25.4) * 0.70) *2 + 16 = diameter

inches to metric can be a tricky conversion. Sure the math is easy, but the difference between a 225/75r16 (29.3x8.9") and a 235/70r16 (29.0x9.3") and a 245/70r16 (29.5x9.6") is actually smaller than some 31x10.5s from one manufacturer compared to another manufacturer. Don't limit yourself to a single metric size in your searches. I just found a set of newish 235/70s for the Libby (which is why I had those numbers on hand) and was hunting down all sorts of metric sizes that would work.

What am I doing with said MJ? That would greatly affect my decision.

Could be a custom-made set of leafpacks. :brows:

You could simply cut off part of your front coils. Don't use a torch (you'll alter the steel), only a cutoff blade. And only slice about 3" off a coil at a time, checking the height after each cut. TJ coils are pretty soft. Not exactly what you'd be looking for in a pavement carver. The rear is a simple as adding a steel spacer and getting some new U-bolts. Look into the cheap XJ lift parts. You can find 1 or 2 inch blocks with the longer U-bolts (XJs are spring over so adding blocks to them gives lift). If you're only looking to knock it down an inch or 2, you can keep your current shocks. For extra handling, I've read that you can upgrade the front swaybar with a v8 ZJ bar. I've yet to confirm that, but it's on the long-term list for my 90.

After securing the right year cluster (what year is your MJ?), you'll need to swap out the temp and oil pressure switches for the proper sending units. That's about it. Be careful with removing the oil pressure switch. If it snaps off, you'll have quite a project ahead of you to drill it out. The Odo adjustment can be done by just about any shop and they'll give you the proper paperwork to made it all legal.

That's where he thought the title would be, but it wasn't. You can bet as soon as that title shows up in the mail I'll be taking a trip to the bank.

I think Mini changed them.

No idea where the plate went. :dunno: My bet is that it was stolen. It's pretty hard for a plate to just fall off.

Come and listen to a story about a man named Pete... So my dad's 83 Z-28 has been in storage for a few years now and he really wanted to drive it this summer. On July 3rd I went over to the Secretary of State to get the plates updated. The SOS in Wyandotte had a huge line in it so I drove out to Woodhaven to try there. The line was shorter but the A/C was broken. But I toughed it out and waited my turn. When the lady looked through the paperwork she noticed that the VIN on the insurance paper was wrong. D'oh! So I walked out empty handed (except for a no-more-waiting-in-line pass). It was too late to call the Insurance company so he missed out on driving the car that weekend. The next week he got a hold of the Ins people and they faxed over the new papers. Upon closer inspection, the VIN was still wrong. So the next day he called and tried again. This time the correct papers were faxed and the next chance I got I went to the SOS. This time I was told that there was a hold on the plate because of a vehicular incident back in April of this year. No amount of explaining that the car hasn't moved in at least 4 years was going to get past this and she said I needed to bring in the title so she could use that to iron it out. So I walked out empty handed again. Dad and I spent the next couple days trying to track down the title with no luck (he hasn't seen it since the 80s). But he did find the original paperwork for the purchase back in '83. For giggles I went over to the Camaro to check out the plate. Of course it didn't match the number the SOS has so I unscrewed it and the next chance I got I took the plate and paperwork to the SOS. This time I talked to someone different and she told me that I was not authorized to take care of this matter and that Dad would need to fill out a form. So I walked out with this form in hand. Dad filled it out and the next chance I had I went back to the SOS. (by now I figure I'm getting maximum value out of that pass). This time I was told that the form was invalid. It seems that Dad made a mistake on it, crossed it out and wrote the correct number, thus invalidating the whole thing. So I walked out with a new form. Dad filled it out again and the next chance I got I went back to the SOS. This time everything seemed to be in order except that the car was no longer in the system. Neither the original plate, nor the incorrect plate nor the VIN was in the system. But fortunately all three were still under Dad's name in the computer so the lady was able to reissue a plate and title. So I finally walked out with a plate in hand. Yesterday Dad puts the plate on the car (which is stored in my Grandparents' garage) and drives home. . . . . . Some time between then and a half hour ago the plate vanished off the car. I can't wait til Monday's trip to the SOS. :D

More important than an up or down vote is we're looking for additional opinions and input. Any other categories you'd like to see? Should there be more info about the owner? (favorite beer, band, whatever, things like that). If the truck is bone stock or 2wd, what items would you like to see? Or should I just modify the individual categories to reflect what the owner has done and what is unique about the MJ.

I talk alot of BS you better double check. That is correct. I just checked my LWB and SWB. I know I just wanted him to take a walk :laughin: Yeah, yeah. I'll do that tomorrow when I drag the Co2 tank over to top off the 2 stupid leaky tires on the 90.

Oh good. Saved me a trip across the street. :D

Not sure. Could be a longbed/shortbed thing. I notice that the first 2 have the rear shackle a bit in front of the end of the frame and the last one is right at the end of the frame. I'll run over to mine and see what's up.

I cut a hole and set mine into the door:

If you've got a rust free bed, you'd better be finding it a new home. :D Here's a couple pics of what the frame looks like:

If you have LeBaron hood vents...

What about those add-on cowls?
