The aussie locker is a locker, not a limited slip and has no clutches to worry about. See their website if there's anything specific they recommend.

Its not that it's too heavy for the truck, it's that it's too heavy for a couple normal guys to man-handle around the garage. Be prepared that it's tough to move. :thumbsup:

Pretty much the same amount of effort. the snowfighter 60 is the same 60 found in the F-350s. Be prepared, the Dana 60 is a heavy mutha. 500 pounds or so.

It's required with clutch-type limited slip diffs. Otherwise you'll burn up the clutches in no time.

See I think this is where the bickering is coming from. You're calling the 4.0 a weakness. that's a bit of a bold statement to make when the guys here would consider it a strength. The Dana 35 is a weak point. The peugeot transmission is a weak point. The sucky 3.07 gearing in a 4.0/manual is a weak point. The 4.0 is a strength. If you want to be different for difference's sake, that's fine. Nothing wrong with that. :thumbsup: But it might behoove you to not knock an engine you've never owned and is near and dear to a lot of Jeep owners' hearts. I hope you'll change you mind about leaving because we do like watching MJs get built, but try not to get all defensive after taking some heat when you call our beloved engines crappy.

2-door XJ seats with the straight slider are preferred. 4door XJ seats with the straight slider are second best. Or just get MJ seats. :D The curved rocker slider will jack you up a couple inches so avoid those if you're tall.

Yes, the 86 model year will need the front clip (rad mount supports, hood and hood latches mostly) off the 4.0 XJ so you can run the bigger 4.0 radiator. Early 86s will need a big dent added to the firewall, later 86s may not. Get the best condition drivetrain and wire harness you can find in a bad body with bad axles. :thumbsup: 97+ swaps are entirely possible too, they just require a tad more effort with the interior. See the couple we have in the projects forum.

But it is NOT the same amount of work. The big reason why the 4.0 swap is mentioned is because all the 4.0 stuff bolts in and an entire swap can be done for the price of a donor XJ (plus a rear shaft). Swapping in a 4.3 requires a bunch of expensive and/or custom built parts to adapt it to the truck. But the 4.3 swap has been done before. Get an donor rig and start measuring for the motor mounts and exhaust and cooling (or call up advanceadapters.com of novak-adapt.com and break out the credit card) Cooling is a problem with the v8s, but the 4.3 should not be a hassle as long as you get a decent size radiator.

AX-5 gets regular ol' gear oil. :thumbsup: It's only the AX-15 that can't take the sulfur compounds.

they fit ok. They came in a long strip that I trimmed to fit (meaning the edge is no longer "finished"). They were "chromed" and I had to hit them with paint. also, I bought them like 10 years ago so there's no telling if anything has changed with their supplier. :dunno:

The angle of the rear axle in my 88 is completely wrong (points directly at the t-case). Never had any vib problems. :dunno: But I did install brand new U-joints with the axle install.

I used to recommend that too, but recently a member here had his XJ shackles invert themselves. :eek: So I've pulled it from my recommendations list. :(
