  1. yup, as Geo said, only the front driveshaft is affected. the front axle shafts spin regardless. Locking it up just makes it like any other Jeep since 93ish.
  2. try a rebuilt injector on that 2.5. Other guys have found it to be a world of difference.
  3. I don't trust reworked Dana 35s. The housing just isn't very strong. :(
  4. And bench seat floor brackets. ...which are the same thing. :D
  5. Breaker bar or impact gun? Oh, and if I remember right, you can see the bolts from under the truck and hit them with PB Blaster.
  6. yeah, i'd probably start by asking at the local parts store if they know of a place that does custom lines. I doubt throwing in another 20 year old hose would be wise.
  7. fusible link?
  8. the 2.8 has a carb and the auto trans attached to it is a 3-speed.
  9. Looks good! I hope rocker guards are in your truck's future. :D
  10. Weird. I would probably start with vacuum leak hunting.
  11. The aussie locker is a locker, not a limited slip and has no clutches to worry about. See their website if there's anything specific they recommend.
  12. Its not that it's too heavy for the truck, it's that it's too heavy for a couple normal guys to man-handle around the garage. Be prepared that it's tough to move.
  13. there's a writeup on bushing replacement in the DIY forum.
  14. Pretty much the same amount of effort. the snowfighter 60 is the same 60 found in the F-350s. Be prepared, the Dana 60 is a heavy mutha. 500 pounds or so.
  15. It's required with clutch-type limited slip diffs. Otherwise you'll burn up the clutches in no time.
  16. Define "fit". Yes, it can be made to work.
  17. Rocker guards are your friends. :D Do them before you hurt the rockers. I wish I had. :( (with a wheelbase as long as our trucks, the rockers are rock/log magnets)
  18. I moved them to the Tech forum for ya.
  19. Did you try this fix? viewtopic.php?f=9&t=18415
  20. yup. Straight GL-5 works fine.
  21. See I think this is where the bickering is coming from. You're calling the 4.0 a weakness. that's a bit of a bold statement to make when the guys here would consider it a strength. The Dana 35 is a weak point. The peugeot transmission is a weak point. The sucky 3.07 gearing in a 4.0/manual is a weak point. The 4.0 is a strength. If you want to be different for difference's sake, that's fine. Nothing wrong with that. But it might behoove you to not knock an engine you've never owned and is near and dear to a lot of Jeep owners' hearts. I hope you'll change you mind about leaving because we do like watching MJs get built, but try not to get all defensive after taking some heat when you call our beloved engines crappy.
  22. 2-door XJ seats with the straight slider are preferred. 4door XJ seats with the straight slider are second best. Or just get MJ seats. :D The curved rocker slider will jack you up a couple inches so avoid those if you're tall.
  23. Yes, the 86 model year will need the front clip (rad mount supports, hood and hood latches mostly) off the 4.0 XJ so you can run the bigger 4.0 radiator. Early 86s will need a big dent added to the firewall, later 86s may not. Get the best condition drivetrain and wire harness you can find in a bad body with bad axles. 97+ swaps are entirely possible too, they just require a tad more effort with the interior. See the couple we have in the projects forum.
