  1. I predict the winning team will have the most points and the losing team will go home disapointed. GO STEELERS!
  2. Just a quick update for those interested. Couldnt get to work yesterday because of the freezing rain so spent the morning in the garage with the hot rod. Got the radiator hoses fit and installed, Finished bolting the motor down, And started repairing the underhood wiring harness. Also finished modifying a 5.0 mustang air cleaner housing for my home made cold air kit. I'll post up some pics over the weekend.
  3. thanks....I'll check that out tomorrow evening :clapping:
  4. The windshield washers on the wifes 2000 cherokee havent worked in a couple months so I finally got around to looking at it last weekend. It appears the pump itself has decided to retire on me. My question is where is this dad burned thing located at? I'm thinking ita probably in the bottom of the resevoir but thought Id do some research before I start pulling the fender to get at it. Thanks
  5. There were no cheap sources for a new tps that I could locate. I paid $104.00 for mine at my local NAPA. ( I get a small discount because I buy all my parts from them.) I will say that after installing it and adjusting for the correct output voltage my Comanche runs better than it has in months. Should have sucked it up and changed it out long ago......Now on to some new injectors
  6. Check the plastic tube that runs across the passenger inner fender behind the battery. If you've had the battery out for any reason and werent careful that line is easily cracked or broken. don't ask me how I know.
  7. I had a problem with the wifes 00 xj running warm last summer. It wasnt overheating but was running about 210 on the guage. When I first pulled the radiator cap to check the antifreeze level I found the gooseneck on the rad 1/2 way full of rust. Figured that was why it was overheating so I drained and flushed the entire cooling system untill I got nothing but clear water back. Filled it back up with coolant only to find it still ran warm. Finally gave up and pulled the water pump to find the impeller had rusted almost completely away. What remained looked like a ninja throwing star that was only about 1 and 1/2 inches across.
  8. it does have a clutch fan. I asked about it this evening and he said that his gas mileage has dropped off recently and the engine seems like its down on power. Were gonna check the fan out tomorrow
  9.  Bingo. they use them on the airports for snow removal. Thw way they usually use them here is to run 4 to 5 plows in a line with the blower bringing up the rear. The plows clear all the snow to one side of the runway and then the blower blows it away so there are no large piles or windrows along the edge of the runways or taxiways.
  10. Thanks forth clarification on how the blend door operates. I guess Ill have to look into it. I forgot to mention that my first thought was that the thermostat was bad. We replaced it last weekend before any of this was done. It was also changed out yesterday and replaced with a mopar tstat when he let the ford techs loose on it.
  11. Heater case has never been apart since my brother has had the truck. Would the blend door allow outside air mix with the heater air? Or does it just control where the air comes out...ie ...dash vents, defrost, ect?
  12. he had all these parts replaced today at one time. He says its making more heat now than before but still isnt making heat like it used to. I looked at it yesterday evening and according to my digital thermometer the upper rad hose and both heater hoses were 190 degrees but the lower one was only 70 degrees. This evening he stopped by on his way home (about a 40 mile drive) and the radiator cap was cool to the touch. Almost seems like the cooling system is working to good.
  13. The engine isnt coming all the way up to temp. Only running at about 170 degrees with a 195 degree t stat. Water pump, radiator, tstat have all been replaced as well as a cooling system flush :dunno:
  14. congrats....I myself has my first on the way in july.
  15. Anybody out there a dodge truck tech? My brother has a 2001 ram with a 5.9 that isnt making heat. Hes already thrown about 400$ worth of parts at it now he wants me to work on it. If anybody knows anything about these pm me and I'll give you the details.(don't want to waste valuable space with non comanche propaganda...lol)
  16. Been there done that....lol. I used to have a bad regulator in my drivers door. When I rolled the window down to far I had to pull up on the window while i turned the crank to roll it up again. If you have this problem you should NEVER grab the window with a pair of pliars and try to pull it up. In my defense I had been up 23 hours striaght and better judgement went out the window at about hour 21.....lol. Wound up driving home with a trashbag over the door. On the upside I now have a nice window with no scratches and a regulator hat works great. Thanks Paul
  17. Yeah we have 2 plow trucks at work onw with a meyers and one with a western. The western is defiately quicker than the meyers e 47 pump.
  18. Glad to hear shes working for you. Mine has done nothing but work for the last 2 weeks. Its amazing how much snow they'll push. What kind of fluid do you rum in your pump? I used to run atf in mine but have found that if you use the regular cold weather hydraulic fluid for the snowplows it will move alot faster when the temps get colder.
  19. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: If you'll excuse me I have to go clean the pepsi off the computer now.
  20. snowed again last night....another 4 inches or so. Getting ready to go out on my second run of the day. This poor old truck has done nothing but make me money for the past week....I'm gonna have to break down and paint it this summer. It deserves some kind of reward for its hard work.
  21. Finally solved my eratic high idle issue.Pulled the new iac solenoid I put in the other day and cleaned it.Still idled to high. To make a long story short I found out my front two intake manifold bolts were about ready to fall out. I turned them back in with my fingers! Tightened them up and shes running good again.....Now its time to plow some snow again... :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
  22. I know what your saying. I came home yesterday to find a kid stuck in the ditch just past the house. I stood there and watched 4 people drive around him and not stop. I was afraid to try to bull him out(afraid the plastic bumper would break from the strap pulling up on it being it was onlt 6 degrees.) I was able to push him out of the ditch by hand though. Kid never even said thanks. I would hope someone else would do the same for my kid in about 16 years though. ( wife is due with our first July 17)
  23. I have never been a big fan of Holley carbs. I had a 600 with vaccum secondaries on my last car(78 nova with a stout 350) and it ran good as long as you didnt mind fidling with it all the time. I replaced it with an edelbrock that I took out of the box and bolted on and never touched again. Maybe it was just that one carb we shall see because as I said the holley will do for now.
  24. that is a 850 holley with mechanical secondaries ( insert gas chuggin smiley here). Definately not myfirst choice in carbs but it'll do for now.
