Thinking about a dog (puppy)...maybe, suggestions?
HOrnbrod replied to SuperWade2's topic in The Pub
I got my cocker Gus at our local shelter for daughter #2. He was dropped off the night before supossedly because his owners moved into an apartment that would not allow animals. The shelter gave me their names, I called them, and they verified it. They also stated they had paid $600 for him, came from great stock, and they had the AKC registration papers. He was less than a year old, and looked like he had never had a trim in his life. Paid the shelter $100 for all the shots and a checkup w. a clean bill of health, and we brought him home. We then shaved him down to parade rest, and washed his stanky little body. Daughter #2 left for 'Bama U on her USAF ROTC scholarship a month later, so I am now the stuckee. :D Buy he's my pal and is a great little dog. Image Not Found Image Not Found -

renix 4.0 won't idle past 3500
HOrnbrod replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Not sure if this will help in your Renix case, but a guy over on the Strokers forum had the same problem - turned out to be a mis-indexed distributor. http://www.jeepstrokers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=568&hilit=limited -
Say what? Do folks really want these? Had no idea mine was a 'gem' I looked for a couple of years for a 92 HO; could not find one that wasn't all rotted out or one I wanted. This was like 7-8 years ago. So I settled for my 91. As long as it was an HO and not a Renix! The 92s are the "elite of the fleet", they are scarce, and will only increase in value more than the rest. I wouldn't do anything to your 92 that couldn't easily be undone back to stock in case you ever want to sell it.

Dingo-Dog. -
:agree: And even if you get the hole right, it may or may not center up the axle because it's non-adjustable. Get an adjustable bar, the bushings are probably shot of your original anyhow. The "Country" model XJs also used the same sway bar as the ZJ V8 bars. It's a good upgrade. Be sure to replace the bar and end link bushings too.

Welcome back Chico-san. :D Heard you're a Japanese non-speaker now, si? Anyhow, don't forget the grease - I'd never used the nasty stuff before. Been battling a squealing brake issue and JT advised the grease on the slide pins and I also greased (lightly) all metallic contact between the caliper and caliper bracket, including the back of the pads. Problem solved.

WJ control arms and swaybar on an MJ questions.
HOrnbrod replied to mfpdm's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks. Looks like they will add some stability, keep caster the same, and I suspect the bushings are stouter than the stock MJ uppers, as are the bushings in the WJ lowers. You planning to install them for a smoke test? :D -
WJ control arms and swaybar on an MJ questions.
HOrnbrod replied to mfpdm's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I asked that same question about WJ upper arms, but am not sure on which forum. Think it was here, and the answer I received was that the WJ uppers will not work, and it made sense. But I can't find it either. I used WJ lowers to get rid of full turn tire rubbing, and the larger bushings really improved handling. I do remember though that the ZJ and XJ/MJ uppers were the same. BTW Chief, what are the WJ upper center-to-center bolt hole measurements, and does the curve face up or down? -
Aftermarket MJ Rear Sway Bar
HOrnbrod replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
G was the guy who turned me on the the PST rear bar. In fact he's helped me in a whole lot of things. Unfortunately it would not fit my LWB because of the shock mounts. It fits the SWB models just fine. Hopefully G will chime in and explain it better than I can. :D -

Here's my red-eyed little helper buddy Gus. I've had many many breeds, Norwegian Elkhounds, Pointers, Dalmations, even Poodles (the ex liked them), but this guy is #1. Great with kids and toward other dogs (and cats). He's getting to know MJs pretty well too as he's starting to correct my mistakes. In fact, I think he knows more than JT does regarding MJs. :D -
Check to see if all three mounting screws are on the tach and are tight to the foil. If that doesn't work, the tach's probably bad. I just sold my last HO tach yesterday. :???:

Low Fuel Warning Light
HOrnbrod replied to summerinmaine's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There is a "low fuel warning" module inside the cluster behind the fuel gauge, part number 83504281 for the 1990 and below. Probably not available anymore, but ya never know. They are preset to conduct when it senses xx ohms for xx seconds (66.5 ohms for 20 seconds on the HOs, don't know the values for the Renix clusters) and illuminate the warning light. These are replaceable but non-adjustable unless you want to "fool" your module by adding in resistance. -
The dealer has them. AFAIR they were pretty cheap too.........

HO valve cover on a Renix 4.0 UPDATE
HOrnbrod replied to mjeff87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It's a 3/8 NPT to 3/8" tubing adapter. Lowes has them in their pneumatic tubing section. But you're better off pulling the larger hoses and adapter from a donor as the new hoses are expensive from the stealer. -
Ask him to look inside the wheel; the BS number should be stamped on one of the spokes.

I was pulling that code on an 01 XJ I had while it was still under warranty. It was NOT the gas cap. Turned out to be a cracked evap hose. The dealer does an actual smoke test (injects smoke to detect the leak). If a new cap or cap O-ring doesn't clear the code, It might be hard to find. on your own.

What's the back space on those?
