Looks great! The tweeds don't quite match, but close. Your boy knows his baseball too. GO BOSOX! -
See this link: http://www.mallcrawlin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6355 It's still available at the dealer.

This guy has more $$ than sense, and also has bad taste. Hideous. "The Jeep is powered by the original 3.8l V6 supercharged and intercooled!!! The dyno sheet from the MFG of the supercharger states 295 rear wheel horse. Additional mods were done outside of the supercharger including high flow cats, Borla high flow exhaust, Gibson headers, CDA carbon fiber air box, ram air, 8mm wires, and iridium plugs. This is one very fast jeep!" Those are pretty crappy numbers. Maybe on a dyno they might be better; for $30K starting bid (Reserve not met!) you would think he'd at least do that.

Lol. :D How in the world can anyone be offended by NOS Chrome parts? Thanks for the link Paul, I've already checked it out - it's an XJ rear bumper unfortunately, the seller thinks. I can't really tell for sure. But I help him cross AMC part numbers occasionally, but no p/n on this guy. He's got a lot of old AMC NOS stuff, and is a first class guy.

CC is also family friendly, but does allow the drinking of beer, except fruity beer, like BudLight Lime. :ack: :ack: -

You're one size too large - these will fit up to 1.810 dia. At least according to the package.

Anybody know what this wire is for?

Cargo light? -
Hey CW - what's the number or hub dia of the Bearing Buddies? I've got a new set of their vinyl Bras that fit the 1781 and 1810 Bearing Buddy - you can have it for postage.

If you are referring to the 00 XJ in your signature, the Chilton's is wrong for your model. BTW, thanks for fixing your signature. All 97 and above 4.0's use a different power steering mounting bracket; all that's necessary to remove/replace/adjust the serp belt is to loosen the long adjusting bolt ccw right behind the idler pulley. This moves the idler pully away from the belt until you have enough slack to take it off and replace it. You don't have to touch the power steering pump bolts on 97+ models, this only applies to 96 and below pumps with the old style bracket. The adjustment bolt is #10 in the pic below. Image Not Found EDIT: Forgot you also have to loosen the idler pulley center bolt (bolt #4) about 2-3 turns so the pulley will slide with the adjustment screw.

XJ Wagoneer grill Assy
HOrnbrod replied to dasbulliwagen's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I like the Waggy front ends on an MJ; always have. Thought seriously about doing it myself, but I never could find everything I needed in good shape. And Hella makes H4 halogen headlamp shells for the smaller quad-rectangular headlamps for upgrade. Image Not Found -

Hey 88pioneer, I meant nothing personal. Really. I was out of line on my response to your post, bad day, but no excuses. Patience has never been one of my virtues. But I do really try to help here, and do a lot of research to give the best answers I possibly can. But at the same time it would be nice if guys with questions can provide more details, especially year/model/engine etc. about their rig, so we all can give better informed answers w/o assuming everything. That was my only point.

I've had several W124 and W203 series Benz's and converted them all to Euro lighting. The crappy DOT standards we are forced to live with here is ridiculous. Joe, you must have hung out with a different crowd in Manila and Makati than I did. The folks that did have vehicles were all owner jeepneys, and some of those didn't have any lights at all, especially in the city. I had a BMW R60/5 like this one, only in black that I rode all over there. Ever come up at 80+ MPH on a dark country road behind a 1 MPH carabao cart coming home from the rice patties at night? The skid marks were everywhere.

Okay Rob - just getting tired of it. I'll have another brew or few. Not picking on anyone specifically, just speaking generally.

I wonder about these "wondering" questions. They are getting much too numerous. No year or model given, no what gauges you have now, no goal except "better looking XJ gauges". Yet some kind members on this forum still respond. A good example of the caliber of most of the super members on this forum, and a good example of others who throw up questions w/o a clue of what they are asking, don't know how to detail what they are asking, or don't even bother or are too lazy to search the forum so they can ask an intelligent informed question based on the knowledge base readily available by doing a simple search. I don't get it. What is it - instant gratification required w/o any effort from me? Sorry - rant over. :hmm:

Wiper motor replacement
HOrnbrod replied to Drahcir495's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
I knew it coming in that the Reflexxion hoods had this problem. Forget how, but I read it somewhere. Paul is thinking about this too, as we all have the same problem. I just use the first hole for the prop rod; if I need it all the way up I pop off the right wiper arm. But am not going to put the struts back on until we figure a solution. As far as fit, for me it's perfect. The dimensions were exactly the same as the old hood, but I had to fiddle quite awhile with the front/rear shims and hinge bolt positions to make it exacerly right. -
Man, I'm glad they don't do that down here. If you have a lot of derelict junk cars and trucks sitting in your yard that's a sure sign of redneck wealth. :D

True, the vent hoses are for fumes, but if the hoses are rotten and the valve is stuck open, or even not secured to the tank?? It shouldn't be doing it, but according to the OP liquid fuel is coming out the top of the tank and running down the sides. I think dropping the tank is in order............
-
Here's a pic of where the two valves are on the tank, #3 and #4 Image Not Found
-
Also, directly on top of your tank there are two pressure relief valves sealed to the tank with an O-ring, one valve on each corner of the tank. These valves are hooked to the fuel vent hoses and relieve excess pressure. Check to see that the hoses are attached securely to the valve neck and not rotted off.

Wiper motor replacement
HOrnbrod replied to Drahcir495's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Now if Rich can only figure out how to lower the right wiper post so the hood will clear all the way up, that would really be nice. :D -
City lights are used on well lit city streets in most European (and some Asian) countries; in fact it's illegal to use headlights in most Euro cities. They usually have a separate position built in to the headlight switch to turn the city lights only on. There is legislation in the works to do this in some US and Canadian cities too. And a lot of folks also use them for DRL's. Link: HERE
