  1. OP, yeah, do that, but don't go replacing the solenoids before you ohm them out. That's just not very smart - unless you enjoy wasting $$ and getting douched with ATF. :shake:
  2. Oh. I didn't know your hand size. Clutch pedal return spring? I don't have a clutch so I don't know what size they are.
  3. Parking brake, item #9.
  4. All MJs originally came with catalytic converters. AMC started putting them on the original 84 XJs.
  5. They are!
  6. Neither. Lower midsection than what those are used for.
  7. :rotfl2: :clapping: :rotfl2:
  8. I could use some midsection stiffeners. :(
  9. Mike, I'm just a frustrated satirical comic. Anyhow, I mailed Brett a pair of my nice shiny nuts today.
  10. Agree. But you can't stop and there's not much you can do about it. You can ignore it and live in the past, or embrace it, grab every new techno gadget that comes out and drive a Prius or some clone POS. I prefer to live in the past.
  11. I recently went from 16" to 18" tires on the JK. Since it was still under warranty I brought it to the local dealer to recal the speedo. The guy whipped out a hand-held computer (looked like a simple code scanner), plugged it in, selected the exact tires I put on from a menu, pushed a button, and the speedo was calibrated. Did it in the parking lot for no charge. Sometimes progress is good.
  12. :needpics:
  13. That doesn't really tell me much since I know zero about A/C. Care to elaborate?
  14. Alright, I admit an A/C idiot and I'm not ashamed. :rotfl2: My original R12 compressor seized up, and I'm going to convert to R134A refrigerant since I'm out of R12. I already have a NOS R134A compressor I picked up a few years ago as I knew this day would arrive sooner or later. What other A/C parts do I need for the conversion? My plan is to install everything I have to, then bring it to a shop for charging.
  15. Starting in 1991, the 2.5 and 4.0 engines used the same fuel pump in both MJs and XJs. Only the 90 and below Renix years used different pumps.
  16. I though the same thing at first...........
  17. I have many, but unfortunately they are not rusty like the one in your pic. If that's okay, PM me your address.
  18. All true. But the 50s-70s cars all were unique. Each had their own design, personality, quirks, and the mfg's changed things every year to keep it interesting. Now a Mopar looks like a Toy looks like a Chevy looks like a Ford ad nauseaum. It's boring - they all look the same. I guess that's progress. I miss my 63 supercharged Avanti.............
  19. A sensor won't work and kills the engine because of a ~3 ohm impedance? Only in a Renix. Damn, what a POS designed system. :shake:
  20. Corvair, the #1 worst deathtrap ever built. It had a javelin-like steering column that pointed straight at your heart. In a head-on with one of those, the front end folded up like cardboard and you were impaled. I'd feel safer driving an Isetta. In spite of that, I had one for a couple of years.
  21. Probably mostly true. Originally with the D35, my truck had no problems through 120K miles. But two months after the stroker install, I snapped a left axle. Two months after that snapped another. That was it. I wanted a MJ-specific D44 or AMC20 axle, and it took six months before I found a D44 up in TN. Had it regeared to 4.10, slapped it in, and have driven the snot out of it for over three years now with no worries or problems. And this is just a stroker six, not some torque monster engine. I guess if you baby the D35 it'll last, but who wants to do that?
  22. Thought this was interesting: a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air vs. a 2009 Chev. Malibu. I'd still rather be driving the 59 though.
  23. I know of a source for NOS MJ shackles, p/n 52001828. They are $50/ea though. If interested send a PM. And no, they are not mine..........
