Eagle's correct of course. If it's from a ZJ it's the less-than-stellar D44a rear axle. But you stated the axle came from an XJ, so I assumed someone had already done the conversion to rear disks. Is this the case? This diagram will help with your other questions on MJ shock plates (#5) and reinforcement plates(#12):

I also swapped in a MJ D44 to replace the D35 and had a couple of small problems. The shock mount plates themselves with the pins will work fine with both the 35 and the 44, but the reinforcement plates under them would not. That's because the D44 u-bolts are slightly thicker (1/2" standard duty vs. 9/16" heavy duty) and won't go through the reinforcement plate holes. You can either egg the reinforcement plate holes a little larger to accommodate them, or use the smaller u-bolts. I recommend the former. The D44 snout sticks out about an inch longer the the D35, so you will need the driveshaft shortened slightly. I also have disk brakes on my D44 and retained the stock load sensing valve. To compensate for the additional bias needed by the disk calipers I fabbed up an Adjustable Rod that I could dial in for optimum rear disk braking that works well. This rod can also be lengthened if you do a lift later.

Either Spicer 5-153X U-Joint (greasable) or Spicer 5-1310X U-Joint (non-greasable) are fine - your choice. For the greasable joints, I remove the supplied grease fittings and replace them with 1/4 x 28 "flush" type fittings. This makes it much easier to grease the joint by using a needle attachment on the grease gun.

~225* is about when my aux fan comes on w/o the A/C too. Also too hot for me, thus the switch. I've only had to use it a few times in the summer stuck in traffic.

The aux fan is controlled by the ECU for the HOs. The radiator sensor is for Renix aux fan. http://comancheclub.com/topic/48804-electric-cooling-fan-issue/?hl=aux+fan&do=findComment&comment=496745

Sliding rear window question
HOrnbrod replied to RustyRodder's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Any of these work? http://www.autozone.com/collision-body-parts-and-hardware/sliding-window-latch-kit http://www.gordonglassusa.com/group/663/CRL-Replacement-Latches.htm -
Okay, maybe it wasn't. What you experienced was death wobble, or a variation thereof. Out-of-balance tires and worn front end suspension and steering parts (tie rod ends, track bar bushings, ball joints, etc,) can all trigger it. Very common in our old trucks. The threads posted by Gene are a good starting point. That's a great setting your truck is parked in. Beautiful old barn. New England?

Not for combat, more like a base taxi. :thumbsup:That's a whole lot of useless money spent on a "conus only" vehicle. If the military has it, they will use it. Where is the "train like you fight" mentality in this vehicle? The HMMWV needs to be replaced. The platform is 30 years old and it is past it's prime. I don't see a JK taking the place of a H1 though. The HMMWV is such a versatile platform. It will be hard to find another vehicle that will out perform it. I work hand and hand with the program office and program managers, we are keeping our HMMWVs for a few more years. The MC is looking for a all around vehicle. We have a few in mind. The one standout seems the have a Hummer feel but has a 6.6, Allison, independent suspension and full armor. The JK can never replace the HMMWV, it's apples and oranges and different missions. But I can visualize modified JKs transporting troops on and off posts both on-road and off-road all over the world, doing convoy escort, military police duties, etc. They are reliable, wouldn't be expensive to procure / convert / commission, economical to operate, and would help standardize maintenance. It's a good platform for jobs like that and would free up the HMMWVs or whatever replaces it currently doing these tasks. Just a note on HMMWVs: I was working at the Yorktown NavWepsSta back in the early 80's when they first came out and ran the radio shop there. We were tasked to install Motorola VHF radios in all of them, and I'll never forget how tough it was to drill the holes in the steel for the antennas. Nothing we had in the shop could touch it. As I recall we had to order special bits made in Germany and HD drills to pierce the skin.

Fixed it for you. Congress sets the budget. The "Prez" requested a 7.8 percent increase in Defense Department spending, Congress approved a 6 percent increase. You didn't fix anything. Of course the "Prez" requested an increase this time - he's on the way out. Look at his past military spending and manpower priorities record mate. Too little too late. Anyhow, all this is off topic - my fault - back to our regularly scheduled programming.

It makes damn good sense especially now since our wonderful Prez has hacked and slashed the military budget to death.

Sounds like you sucked clutch fluid from the EGR hose into the intake and maybe gummed up your injectors. Pull your plugs and see what they look like. Hopefully you can clean/dry them up and it will start and blow the crap out.
