For BLHTAZ to get a job...hell, for that matter, all my friends to get a job. Merry Xmas guys.

TB I have two locks (currently in spare doors) but have no keys for them. You can have a lock for free if you want to get it re-keyed for your key.

Intermittent wipers and Cruise control.
Akula69 replied to xj_dummy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I can't really advise you on the 2.5 issue because I've only had experience with the 4.0 installation...but I have seen a 2.8 V6 with the identical cruise control components...perhaps one of the 2.5 guys can weigh in here. I've not seen a manual tranny vehicle with a cruise control. The shrouds on the tilt steering columns are difficult to remove, however, doing so allows you to check and possibly tighten your tilt section. I have always painted the column shrouds with flat black paint after I get them put of the donor and cleaned up - its much faster. -
Intermittent wipers and Cruise control.
Akula69 replied to xj_dummy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Wipers are relatively simple - but you will need to partially disassemble the steering column to remove old signal stalk and install the new one. There is also a 4 wire line that needs to be fed down the column for the cruise control. The cruise control is more problematic. Firstly, the speedometer cable for the cruise control is no longer available, (I have one but I'm using it ). There is a short harness that plugs into the cable from the column, also into the fuse block and a switch that mounts onto the brake pedal assembly. The rest of the harness goes through the firewall and engerizes a vacuum canister/throttle control unit that is mounter high on the engine bay side of the fire wall. Your best bet is to find a similar model year XJ that had tilt column and cruise...and harvest the entire column, speedometer cable and cruise control system. -
Oh. So we are to assume that you took care of that and made it...umm...crunchy? :brows: :D

My father-in-law was disabled by a stroke, so I am familar with the situation you are facing. Best wishes for her recovery, and with patience and God's help your mother will be OK soon.

Got a Poulan 'Wild Thing' 18" bar right after Katrina and it has always worked well...starts right off every time. I do have the problem with the chain coming off the bar occasionally, but have gotten into the habit of tightening it after each cut so I don't have the aggravation of the chain flipping me off, I mean flipping off the bar...

Ah, we got a lot more then the pictures show...most were taken in the begining when it was first coming down. In the end, the MJ looked a lot like yours. Kinda wet now though.

It's all melting now...guess it was fun for awhile. We lost a huge oak branch in the front that barely missed my Taurus. Some pics: My Son and the Christmas Jeep (looks really like Christmas now... ;) ) Woods at the back. (We have about 500 acres behind and beside us) Taurus Tree that tried to squash it They sanded the overpasses this morning for the folks who have never driven in anything slippery :rotfl2: but the low was about 33 degrees at the most. Being origionally from Ohio kinda gives me perspective on your position Wildman...I've seen both sides of this snow thing. I happen to like it...wife hates it but like I told her...I'd rather have more then two seasons a year (meaning hot and wet for Louisiana).
-
Funny you mention that - the State Police have reported "Hundreds of accidents" but I'm not working :D , so I'll not have any pics...sorry.
-
YEAH - its snowing like a biatch here - got about 3" on the ground and it's still falling. It is supposed to snow unitl 1200 hours. :clapping: (editor's note - I realize this is not interesting to you northern folks with all the snow you get. But it only snows here like once in a blue moon, and whne it does it almost never collects on the ground).

humpf...I'm still waiting for JeepcoMJ to sell me the blue interior parts I need.... :waving:

hmmm....well, don't disappoint them - sleep well!

You may have been a little wrong, but I was a lot wronger. Good even game up to the middle of the last quarter. I'm disappointed, but hell, nobody expected the Tide to do as well as they did. And crap, I got ill listening to the yakking heads constantly deifying Tebow ad nauseum. I really don't give a flying flock now about the National Championship. :( I think I'll get hammered tonight............. Hey - they did good Don...and I'm not happy that they didn't stomp Tebow and the Gators...I have a real reason to dislike the Gators anyway  . I agree with the deifying...I had to turn off the surround sound after the third Q 'cause the announcers were making me ill with all that hot air...

Permanent Fuel Rail Pressure Gauge
Akula69 replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
LOL...well, I have the solution for that: Soak the metric wrenches in beef broth, and the SAE in chicken broth. Then, you can say "Get me the chicken 5/8's", or, "Get me the beef 13MM". Of course, he might run off with one occasionally... Still, a beautiful dog. Used to have two myself (They're hanging out 'Upstairs' now...fetching the tools for the Master Mechanic). -
:agree: Just be very careful re-inserting the steering column inner shaft into the intermediate shaft collar...it will pinch the shait outa you if you're not careful....ask me how I know

Good work, as usual. Nice Cocker Spaniel as well. -
I'm a little confused. I believe you indicated it happens when you brake, but then reference downshifting...does it occur more violently when you downshift? if so, I might look at the motor mounts first...
-
I can't wait...gonna get in line for my tickets now... http://www.beyondhollywood.com/wolverin ... the-works/ Uhhh you better take a look at the write-up on that movie remake SW2...it's not going to be the same movie when the folks in Hollowood get done with it.

How To Properly Mount a Aftermarket Radio
Akula69 replied to smartazz19's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I used the radio traay that I purchased from Fiatslug87. It mounts on top of the aftermarket radio, and has two 'ears' that utilize the screw holes already in the dash. It fit my Kenwood well, and holds it a lot more securely then the sleeve that came with the radio.
