  1. Ya the interesting this about the Gladiator concept is that while it came out 2 years before the JK it is basically a truck version of the JK, convert it into a 4 door, and boom you have the 4dr JK. Between concept cars and production cars it really is one of the closest things, that ZJ concept is pretty close to final design too. Neat to see that what was once a concept got marginally tweaked for production.
  2. Honestly I didn't even think about that. I bet shipping all that would be $$$$! Seriously I doubt it would run more than $30. I got ALL my 2500 parts shipped for $55 fedex. For your overhead console and headliner I would recommend finding a good tan XJ headliner from a junkyard, pulling the fabric off of it, and then gluing it to the headliner, that is what I will do with my headliner(except with the light gray). Also, if there are any other tan 97+ parts you need, I just picked up a 00 with a nice tan interior.
  3. just wanted to see it twice in this thread...when it came out, I really wanted them to make it. I just noticed something, does the hood hinge from the lower grill and open away from the windshield? It does. i know it can't be coincidence. One company took it from the other and i doubt the hurricane was even thought of till halo came out. I would take that warthog any day though, just to go have fun. I would prefer one with the Gauss Cannon instead, I can take out a tank in one shot with that.
  4. You do realize when I offered the interior out of my MJ that all my panels are tan? Would be better matching interior panels than what you have now......
  5. 97 stuff isn't really any different. Goto a junkyard or JC whitney probably sells it.
  6. Didn't I just say that? :waving: Alot of people choose to upgrade to the seal type when they get a new windshield. Costs about $20 more for the seal.
  7. I think I have that bumper on my comanche: No other comments about it, other than maybe its not great for towing.
  8. Is it just me or do Jeeps concept vehicles look better than the production vehicles(speaking of the compass and patriot specifically)? I think this looks pretty good, nice beefy stance like a rally car but lower profile overall: A little too tonka toy like: I dunno WTF this is supposed to be really: Goofy, but the origin of the Ecco wheel: Oh this would have been slick, and you can see the origins of the KJ in the rear design: This looks like it would be fun with a 2L turbo diesel engine: More evidence of KJ stlying: Named the commander, but I think this strongly influenced the WK(I think it might have also influenced the jeep 2500: This ZJ concept was nearly identicle to the production version: (wonder if that hood still exists and if it does how hard it would be to make a negative mold from it and how many people would buy it)
  9. Ok did some more work, got the steering column, dash, and a few other things out of the way. You can see where the front of the newer seat sits here: And so this is about where the front of the new seat will sit in the commanche, that little bit of bracket will be cutoff and the Xj seat bracket welded a little further back than that existing one. Basically the new XJ seat will sit exactly where the XJ seat would sit in a 97+ XJ. Dash pulled, engine next so I can get the heater box out easier: My dog helping: Seat forward: Seat back: Still some space to store stuff when the seat is back: Pulled the windshield trim, need to buy an extractor for the windshield so I can remove it. I will then cut the little studs off that hold on the old style trim so a newer rubber seal can be used. My neighbor works for safelight so I can get him to reinstall it for me for the cost of beer. This will allow me to weld some of the mounts that the newer dash/steering column needs easier with the windshield out
  10. Yup that did it, not 6mm, not 7mm, but a .25" socket fit perfect(6.5mm?) I guess the next step for me is removing the engine, it will make getting to the heater box/blower box easier. you don't need the heaterbox loose to take the dash out. I already have the dash out. The heaterbox is the next step, I will pull the engine to make getting to those studs easier. just checking, trying to help and didn't know what all you needed to do. Ya, its always appreciated, FYI I'm gutting the interior/engine bay/frame for my CRD build: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=10092

  13. I'm in the middle of this right now, how do I get the fuse block unplugged from the dash wiring? I've undone the two screws holding it to the firewall, its come forward, but I can't see anything else right now. Anyone need an interior out of a 88?
  14. Thats the next thing to come out, the whole interior is coming out to prep it for por15, then sound deadening, and then finally the 01 interior.
  15. Good beer. Going to watch this one... I'd love to throw in a set of Prelude seats I have, but the Honda seats are way wide at the bottom. Jeep seat have that taper in them that makes finding replacements a PITA.. Get the "F" out of here......You did not....... :shake: I don't think what I do will really be relivant for using prelude seats, I am using 2001 XJ seats, so they need only have the different mounting points added. And you doubt me? The one I found looks very similar to this, except that mine has 4 set screws.
  16. Started pulling the interior panels out of the MJ, ripped out the carpet tonight, more rust than I was expecting given the outside condition of the vehicle, guess it was that wet carpet syndrome that got to it. Lucky none of it is through the body, and none of it is even soft, went around and tapped on all the rusty spots with welding hammer, all if it is good and solid, and basically appears just to be a heavily pitted surface rust. So right now the plan is to wire brush everything with rust on it, then get some POR15 and coat everything well(after I make modifications to the floor for the newer seats to bolt in), then the POR15 will get covered with the sound deadening material. Anyone have anything else to consider for rust abatement? Here you can see a VERY quick pass(not even 30 secs worth) of wire brush, compared to what it looked like before. I think the wire brush will work well on the surfaces I can get to, its the seam where I cannot get between, or the channel that I cannot get between, that worries me. Of course, if this is as bad as it is after 22 years, another 22 years of equally bad rust wouldn't be the end of the world. Who knows, I somehow doubt I will still own the Jeep in 22 years(maybe, thats a long ways off) I also found a muzzle brake under the carpet, LOL

  18. "Coons? Well my Momma always just sweep em off the back porch with a broom." [/thread]
  19. Also, there is a Renix Xj at pull n save off peoria with a BRAND NEW wiring harness installed. It doesn't do me any good, but for someone out there it would be a sweet score...
  20. Sir Sam

    New ride!

    what year?
  21. Ya, old news, well, maybe more so for colorado people.
  22. Do you have a fuel filter head that you can pull some fuel out of? If you can't get it out of the filter head it may be gelled in the lines and not able to flow to the IP. Does it have a in tank lift pump?
  23. new for new, you may be hard pressed to tell the difference between the single core stock, and the 3 core CSF. (now that is debatable, I am a firm believer that more surface area and cooling volume will always prove to be better) However, as the vehicle ages the 3 core will continue to provide sufficient cooling while the single core will quickly fall on its @$$. Additionally even before the single core fails in daily duty's it will fail under duress. Plain and simple, the 3 core is the way to go.
  24. new lock cylinders for those old columns and cheap and easy, just go that route.
