No that is absolutely wrong. Myself and many others agree that optimas have an atrocious failure rate when they are discharged completely. They will not take the abuse that a regular battery will. I have had the unfortunate displeasure of using optimas for many years, running them dead and then having to replace them. Not only that but the capacity decreased each time you run them dead, meaning sitting around camping at night with your radio on for just 30-40 mins will leave you with a dead battery in the morning. Like anything there can be bad ones, guess it turns out thats been every single optima I have had to deal with. I have a 3 year old optima here I am trying to figure out a way to scam a replacement on. But for the money, nothing is better than going down to samsclub for a battery.

Seems like everyone has to have one to the point of being cliche now.

I think optimas are crap. Hate em. They will be fine if you never run them down. Run em down once or twice and they die. Run down a regular lead acid battery once or twice and it will be fine. Optimas don't like being discharged. Optimas cost alot. They do not last longer than regular batteries. Take good care of an optima(as in never let it discharge), and take equally good care of a regular lead acid battery and you will see the same service life. The difference is that the optima will cost over twice as much, can be mounted at any angle(which very few people actually need), and if the optima does get discharged its useable life will greatly decrease.

Better movie than I thought it would be, I was expecting more of a chick flick, at least thats what all the previews made it look like. I was pleasantly surprised.

Ok they dropped off my replacement TV today. Had a long waiting period (12-4), they showed up at about 3. Walked in with a box, opened it, removed TV, took my old one, had me sign a paper, walked out. Whole thing took less than 4 minutes. Guy asked if I had the old remote, told him I didn't he just shrugged and set the manual package down. Included in the manual package, Manual, powercord(not like I needed it), HDMI cable(longer than the one I had), two AAA batteries, and one remote So score for me, I was betting I would have to buy a remote, vizio wanted like $60 for it, but I found it online at a few places for like $15, so at this rate I am still $15+shipping ahead. So I got my old TV down, took off my mount, installed it on the new TV with some Jeep fender bolts(good use of torx). Went to install it on the wall, turns out my old wall mount was too narrow! Took it down off the wall, went outside and cut it in half with the grinder, bolted it back down about 5-6 inches wider. Turns out I barely made it wide enough by about .25 inches on either side. So I got it up on the wall, hooked up and powered on. Picture looks fuggin fantasic! The black is much much better on this TV than on my old one. Also a good deal brighter too, I think the colors seem richer, though that might be a function of the better black. Tv looks smaller up on my wall since the speakers don't stick way out the side, but the extra five inches over the old 37" is noticeable. (I wouldn't mind having a 52" now, but I suppose I should count my blessings). Popped in the latest bond movie to give it a try, looked pretty fuggin great! Figured I would try out the TV watching a movie with the parents tonight since they came up to visit. Turns out we watched Madagascar 2. Great way to break in a new 1080P TV. Ok so this is what the old TV was doing: So they replaced it with this one: Look at the detail there, so crisp and clear, the colors are much more vibrant and the black is much better:

Switching Over a 92 to 4x4
Sir Sam replied to Starbuck75's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
...What? I read the "for" as "front" editing.......... -
So he cut the XJ boday at the firewall? No, he would have taken more than that, this way he kept the dash and everything complete from the XJ.

From a Cherokee: D30, Front DS, Xfer case, Transmission Xfer case will not boltup to trans, you need a new one. you will not need a custom front driveshaft. -
we need better pics!

Welcome to the world of every other AW4 owner.

A personal inspection or some detailed photos would tell yes, but the provided photo just isn't detailed enough.
-
Both will vary wildly by area. try car-part.com for junkyards near you TJ rubicon front is $$$$
-
We have seen other "conversions" where people simple cut the front from a newer XJ and welded it to an MJ. One more piece showing support of the cutnweld is the drivers side fender support. It has a hole meant for the 97+ washer tank. This would be present on the body of the 97+ jeeps. Now if the comanche has previously been wrecked and the fender support replaced, and then the engine bay/support repainted, it could have been replaced with a 97+ support, so while its not 100% conclusive it looks like a cutnweld job to me.

Sounds like a cut'n'weld

ya looks like another cut n weld job.

Uhhhh huhhh... So you got any pictures of it when you brought it home?? Cause I know it didnt look like that... You got what about a grand or more in sheet metal and paint right? And is that the e-brake cable hanging off the back axle?? You might want to zip-tie that.. :smart: Fender was $45, paint was $60, bumper end cap was $25. Airbags were $150. D30 was free.

Got some wicked hail up here for about 40 mins today, not the largest ever, in fact you texan will scoff at the size, but the largest was around marble to large marble sized. Didn't do any metal damage to my cars luckily, but it did a number on my plants and on my convertible window:

Maybe I just missed the age group it was intended for. Had I been much younger, under about 13, I would have been impressed by all the cool transforming cars. Had I been between the ages of 13-18 I would have associated with it as it was supposed to be about people my age, trying to talk to a girl impossible out of my league, and dealing with high school jackass jocks. Fact of the matter is I get tired of the highschool jock cliche pretty quick, and I never played with transformers as a kid. Turns out I worked on real cars when I was a kid, guess that means I cannot take joy in the "coolness" of a semi that also turns into a giant battle robot.

And those searches would show?

With disk brakes, it has to be out of a Grand. It's not so much crap in the case, it's that the case IS crap. The Grand Cherokee "Dana 44" has an aluminum case that warps if you look at it cross-eyed. The internals are not fully interchangeable with those of a "real" Dana 44. There's a reason it's for sale for $60. The seller doesn't want to man up and pay somebody to haul it away. Yes the brakes would work. I suppose there's a very slight chance that someone put disks on a XJ or TJ D44.

Ok I know I'm behind the curve here, but I finally got transformers on DVD from netflix today. I was expecting much better, seems like the movie was widely accepted, but I didn't think it was all that great. Just kinda meh, I think if I had paid box office prices I would have been pissed off about it. At this rate is it going to be worth it for me to pay to see #2 in theaters? I had been seeing the previews and thinking it looked pretty good, but now I'm not too sure.
-
sounds like it is out of a grand cherokee, its crap in that case.
-
dude, there are a ton of dana 44s out there. you gotta give us more than that.
