  1. thats a pretty good price for the open market around here.
  2. Turn too tight with safety chain on? Thats not where safety chains should be(if that is indeed what it is). Also, good like finding a factory MJ bumper, I've been looking for a year.
  3. Get a diesel, then you can also run biodiesel or make your own home grown fuel!
  4. Well, the master cylinder I had was an OEM part with the hose already attached, but not attached to the slave. The NV3550 I got at the junk yard came with the slave, but the line was clipped. I had to remove the old line (2" or so), and then the new line just clipped on. SO, the only reason I'm looking into this is to avoind the cutting/welding/fabrication of a bracket to adapt the newer Master Cylinder to the MJ firewall holes. If I can just use an older Master with the existing slave, I'll go that route, I just don't know how to connect the master to the slave or if it's even possible due to fluid volumes, etc. Clarke It is not possible to connect an older master to a newer line(at least not without some real work) All the masters from something like 1993 on are the same plastic style with the roll pin. Any of those will work. The older metal types cannot easily be adapted.
  5. The external XJ AX15 Master/Slave/Line is the same as the XJ NV3550 unit. Please note that when you buy this part new it comes as one piece supposedly prefilled with fluid. While it is possible to replace the master or the slave separately, I would recommend getting a single unit used or new, and save yourself alot of hassle of trying to graft two pieces together.
  6. Found an 83 westy with a subi conversion. Alot of the van was just a big hack job, hoses running everywhere, wires, bunjee cord hold up radiator pipes for the front rad, chain holding up the rear muffler, foam stuck through the hole for the rear floor heater.......etc But, it had some conversion parts(not sure who from, perhaps smallcar?). So I got the adapter plate, flywheel, and clutch disk/pressure plate. Additionally it looks like it had an upgraded starter, and a professionally made exhaust. I had fun with all the CV bolts - been years since I replaced the tranny on my syncro, so I didn't really remember needing any special tools to remove it, I should have read the manual or searched here first to make sure, I love how german cars always tend to throw random special tools in that need to be special ordered. So got all the parts pulled, left the hackjob, and carried em out. $105 out the door. Just the flywheel and plate from smallcar is $540. A nice stainless header is $380 + cost of cat and muffler. What I have isn't real pretty, but perfectly functional. I figured I just saved $815 by getting this score at the junkyard. They also had a 95 SVX that I missed getting the engine on. I was planning to pull it last monday, and went to make sure it was good on sunday only to have a kid start pulling it a few minutes later. Would have been $308 for all the SVX parts I needed. Oh well.
  7. I was gonna say it looked like a bug kit car.

    2500?

just the updated front end and minor body look.
  9. Sir Sam

    2500?

Are you talking about the beijing Jeep 2500?
  10. Got my westy parts today: In the Van: Out: $100 for all the westy stuff, need a fridge door, a few latches, Sink faucet is missing, propane tank was gone and lines cut. I will probably try to sweat on some new fittings so I can use the smaller green coleman type of propane canisters(I never liked having the tank underneath).
  11. I'm not sure the syncro conversion is in my future. The syncro trannies are expensive to rebuild(having previously owned one and needing to have the trans rebuilt). This Carat is kinda the other way of the syncro, its lowered a few inches and handles better than the normal height vans. I'm thinking that maybe we will just stick with 2wd, and get the LSD diff and go that route. I think it will be plenty capable for getting off road places to camp then. I still think an SVX engine way be in my future.
  12. Spare parts, craftsman tools came with it, parts of the pop top inside. Window being held up with pliers: Couple of busted headlights: Probably pull the windshield and rear window for the repaint, see what kinda price my windshield guy can get for a new windshield.
  13. Glad you appreciated it.
  14. I am well aware of gowesty, they rebuilt the transmission on my dads 99 eurovan(POS, never want to deal with a eurovan again). gowesty is where we will get the new canvas for the pop top. I think a subaru engine is in our future as well.
  15. You pull a cobound and go buy something else: http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/1254800523.html So my dad got himself a hippy van to live in. (down by the river). Right now all the parts to convert it to a weekender(pop top, cabinents, etc), and a syncro(4wd) are for sale on CL. The syncros come with a granny gear and lock front and rear diffs. Also, it comes with a device that controls the passage of time under the seat: In reference to: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/e ... a_ep45.jpg More pictures, coming soon.
  16. Ah, ya I left on the morning of the 5th and headed up to Rabbit Valley so my dad could get a headstart on his drive to LA.
  17. Yup. I'll get some up when I get home. I'm already on the road to get new parts.
  18. My Jeep just earned its keep today. I hit a deer during the witching hour on July 3 on my way down for camping and 4 wheeling in Ouray. At the time I was pretty pissed because I was planning on trading vehicles with my dad since he needs someplace to live in LA(ie in the back of the Jeep), and I would take his Mercedes(which is not comfortable to sleep in), his Mercedes needs the diesel emissions testing done and plates renewed, which needs to be done in colorado. To top it off I don't keep full insurance on my vehicles to save money(under 25 driver with more than one ticket). Well it turns out I do have full insurance on the Jeep, seeing as how it used to be my dads Jeep he had full insurance on it and that stayed the same. So today the appraiser came by and looked at everything, just over $2200 in damage. I paid $2200 in Dec of 06. I  my Jeep. So I'm off to the junkyards for parts, should cost me just under $600 in parts, and I already have paint leftover from the first time I painted it. Woooohooooo!
  19. post a pic of the rear end. while not impossible its probably not a 8.8, its more likely to be a 8.25, and even that is somewhat questionable.
  20. Sir Sam

    I got some!

    I got my paint today!
  21. Ya, its real easy to push that little diesel and just go nuts. You can climb the passes on I70 here at 80mph all day, but your mileage sure does drop.
  22. You should put that HVAC bezel to make it look really pimp.
  23. Sir Sam

    Oh Pete:

    Also, this sold for $3300: http://ww4.klode.com/kws/napplications/ ... Exit=Close
  24. Sir Sam

    Oh Pete:

    Sold for $3050
  25. Sir Sam

    Oh Pete:

Hail damage adds up fast, just as many panels might need replacing on that Jeep as a rolled one. Hail damage is something that is hard to see in the normal photos, tends to get hidden easily.
