  1. pretty sure it's the brake light switch. when i giggle the peddle they start to work. got a new switch from advanced and installing today.
  2. yes, back up lights work. only the brake lights are out.
  3. my 87 is non adjustable. besides the switch, is there anything else that would cause the brake lights not to work but the flashers do?
  4. guys, the brake lights aren't working. the hazards are. before i go ahead and buy a brake light switch, what else would cause this? i'll add that i suck at electrical $#!& and have no tester. are there any grounds that would affect only the brake lights? i will add that i just installed a new fey bumper but all other lighting is working as it should.
  5. guys, my valve cover arrived today but with out the grommet or the side fitting for the vacuum lines. the thread size on the side i believe is 3/8 x 24 and advance or auto zone have either. are there any part#'s? lowes dosen't have the right thread size either. wtf. any thoughts will be appreciated.
  6. was AMC the only 2.5 manufacture during those years or should i be careful not to buy one from a different manufacturer?
  7. guys, i'm in the market for an aluminum vc for my 87 2.5. when cross referencing my truck on ebay, some of the vc's that are listed for wranglers don't match. which years will properly fit my 2.5?
  8. install that and no more banging against the cross member.
  9. thats the part, how much they charge you? mine was 20 + shipping from arizona parts.
  10. thats odd, i can't either. i just bought it from them 4 months ago.
  11. P/N 52003040, EXHAUST DOWNPIPE SUPPORT, 1987-2001 JEEP XJ/MJ $20.00 http://www.arizonaparts.com/
  12. well my friend got the drain hole all done. the time sert repair worked just as advertised. 20 minute fix while the pan was still on the jeep. if anyone needs to do this repair, hit me up, there's 3 inserts left in the kit.
  13. well, he got the plug out. now waiting for fedex to deliver the time sert kit. will keep you guys updated.
  14. i here ya, but that being said, i did my bimmer oil pan with the ts kit and it worked great, a 20 minute fix. i covered the bit with bearing grease and the shavings all stuck to that. i then puored 2 qts of cheap oil through the enging and just let it run out to flush out any left over shavings. my concern is, is the yj pan robust enough to be tapped and an insert installed/
  15. so, know one has ever repaired their drain plug hole using the time sert repair kit? my friend is going to try and drill out the old plug and rethread the hole and use the time sert insert. thoughts???
  16. guys, my bud has a 92 yj, 2.5. his oil drain plug is striped to the point where he can't get it out. tried turning while prying and still no go. service stations say he must replace the whole pan. i found a time sert oil drain plug repair kit used. can he drill the old plug out and repair with the kit, or should he replace the pan? does anyone have a used one? or part# and vendor for a reasonably priced new one?
  17. do you have an exhaust mani leak? my truck does the same thing but runs smooth once warm. i am attributing that to the mani expanding and somewhat closing the leek.
  18. Any other way?????....I do not have or want a facebook page  start a fb page, join 4banger then delete it.
  19. you have to contact them through there face book page and request a membership.
  20. guys, my tilt steering wheel has a lot of play in it. like an inch each way. it still functions as it should but wtf. my so has been driving it and he's inexperianced so i don't know if it was a gradual thing or came on all at once. any ideas? it's not the steering u joint. that's nice and tight. it's in the tilt mechanism.
  21. looks real good, now my inspiring you has inspired me too.
  22. This is the accurate schematic. Keep it simple, Bobby. Two ports on the TB. Lower goes to the VC, which is supposed to be at the rear of the VC. Upper goes to the MAP. Port on intake manifold goes to EGR solenoid and is there T'd off to the canister at the bumper. The second line off this port goes to the air cleaner plenum, from there to the air box (I believe, as my air box is gone). If your idles poorly..........I would check the EGR........the next thing I would suspect is the MAP........when map is unplugged or bad it will not idle. this schematic still looks wrong for the 87. the vc line towards the front of the truck on mine, routs to the air box and the rear goes to the tb. everything you talked about is done and she is running fine now. these schematics must be for late models. i have yet to see one that has the front vc line running to the air box. and all the charts have pics of pcv valves which as far as i can tell, the 87 renix dosen't use.
  23. can't see them. post the link
  24. dasbulliwagen is correct, you need to contact them through there facebook page.4bangerJP. i think the guys name is Jeffy
  25. does anybody have the part#'s for the 2 grommets in the vc for my 87 2.5?
