  1. Yea,I thought about that, and I have a/c too!! I don't have room to carry a spare can of oil under there.
  2. Just looking at pictures in the parts catalog, it appears that the 2 and 4 door holes in the trim panel are the same size,so 2 dr switches and bezels wouldn't leave an open hole, but Sir Sam says otherwise. Sorry I ain't more help.
  3. And the bad news??? For those of us with thoughts of changing over.
  4. CW,just a logshot,(pun intended),those are mj spring I assume?'cause I have a set of xj's I have no use for I could fire up there. I didn't study your pics,although I like the way you did the shock mounts,so if I'm out in left field,just disregard.
  5. I'm in So.Fl,lotsa mud. A couple guys in my local club have done it and are sorry. It is a beeeeyotch to get the sand out of the rough surface. edit;line-x,that is;edit
  6. camjeep3,before you go nuts on it,take a look and make sure some PO didn't get tired of it leaking or whatever and silicone it shut.Just a thought. If the latch is open, other than old rubber being stuck or crap in the channels, they oughta move without a whole lot of trouble. Also, silicone spray is your friend. It won't hurt anything, soak that bad boy like a cheap who...oh,nevermind. As to where to get new weatherstrips,no clue.
  7. The window and lock switches are the same '97 to '01, for the right and rear doors. The drivers 2 door has 2 window switches, the 4 door has 4 switches. I hope that's what you're asking. :???:

    Comanches doubt

Pete,I believe you pegged it. Mopar's info keeping back then was notoriously poor. Vin's do match. I just thought you guys would enjoy that. Still would like to find a roll bar, since I have the factory mounts there. Even the welded in nuts and stuff are still good.
  9. Jeez,I must really be a redneck. At work,no radio. In my vehicle,cd's are Allman Bros, Skynyrd,Molly Hatchett,Seger, Georgia Satellites, various blues.

  11. Just to add to what Pete and BLHTAZ said, when I got mine, the electrical system was possessed by demons. Get a service manual with wiring diagrams, find every ground on the outside especially, and clean them all. That cured all my problems. Bad grounds will cause some funky stuff to happen. Good luck.
  12. Actually.the outside of the tank, and truck for that matter, are relatively rust free. That's why I'd rather not replace it. Unlike most of you guys,I'm in So Fl., the truck has been here it's whole life. We don't get much rust like you do up north. I think the main water intrusion is from wheeling, every time I go I change engine, trans, transfer case, both diff's if it's wet riding.Evidently some gets in the gas tank too.I'll see if a vent hose might be cracked or off. Thanks for the advice. I'll try to find some Por15. Never heard of it until I started Jeeping, anyone from the south know where it's available? Paging Dr. TAZ? BTW.not trying to fudge. If it's too nasty I will gat a new one.
  13. Not what I wanted to hear, but thanks.
  14. A little fyi for you all. I finally got around to replacing that bearing. When I rmoved the housing it's in,some pretty big chunks of metal fell out of it. Apparently the worn bearing allowed the mainshaft to move enough that the oil pump gerotor hit the side of the aluminum case it's inside of,the case broke when the gerotor broke, the pieces luckily all fell in that bearing housing and not into the geartrain. So the bearing job got a little more involved. The only problem I see is getting the oil pump pickup tube back on the pump as I assemble everything. So if you notice a little play in the rear transfer case bearing, don't put off replacing it. Hopefully I got lucky.
  15. Nope,it takes half the force. A snatch block effectively doubles the winches pulling force, if the cable goes straight out and staight back. Think of a block and tackle.Same principle. I carry one,you should too. They ain't cheap, but they'll get you out of trouble.
  16. Waiting patiently for you to do the bumper. I've got a Tomken front I want to adapt to fit the rear, need some ideas. Looks awesome btw,I like the blacked out lowers.
  17. Don't know that you'll need a radar detector. Mine'll make a top end run through a school zone and not get a ticket. :brows: Nice find, what other plans?

    Comanches doubt

Since the subject came up,you'll like this. Mine is '88,is dark red,has what's left of poineer stripe. Gauges,no tach, buckets, full console.Red interior, btw. Acoording to the vin(Mopar),it's an Eliminator, and was gold. I see no evidence of it ever being any other color than red. But it has all the mounting for a roll bar, including the brackets to the frame.(that's why I've been hunting a rool bar). Figure that one out,oh great ones.
  19. Had a driveabulity problem, the longer the truck ran the worse it ran,til it would hardly accelerate at all. Bucking and missing under acceleration. Pulled the fuel pump yesterday, everything is covered with rust, sock about plugged. New pump, new sock, runs fine. But the tank is full of rusty sludgy stuff,so it won't last. Now,if I take the tank down, can I clean it acceptably with say my pressure washer, and can I use a rust stop product inside the tank? Thanks.
  20. Really nice job making inner panels. I'm impressed.
