  1. I have an 87 LWB with a solid body and very little rust. It needs a paint job though. I spoke with you guys at JCR about four weeks ago. I'm in the market for bumpers and rock sliders. I like the stage 4 stuff you make for XJs and was bummed to hear you don't have a rear MJ bumper or LWB rock sliders. Its AWESOME that you are working on that. Anyway, I'd be more than happy to loan you my truck for as long as you need it. Unfortunately, I'm in PA. If you are interested in looking into shipping options, shoot me a PM and we can talk. If not, I'll just wait until you have the rear bumper and sliders I need and order everything at once.
  2. I'm running the 3" MO kit on my LB MJ with 31s. The rear actually sits at about 4" and I put some spacers in the front to bring it to about 3.5" The 31s rub, but only while flexing. Its not that big of a deal, but 32s might get annoying.
  3. So what exactly do you do ..... and are you hiring :brows:
  4. I think its funny that you still have the flairs on ;) They look pitiful above those tires :D
  5. She is 16 months. I set her in the passenger seat in the MJ and she loved it. Maybe some day she can drive it Oh, I and I forgot to mention that my brother helped out a bunch too. He was the one who suggested flushing out the cooling system .... good idea too, considering the coolant came out looking like used motor oil
  6. I like this poll. I think its a good idea. And I like that there is no "other" option. Lets face it, abstaining or writting someone in is an irresponsible decision. The right to vote is a HUGE privelege! Take it seriously. There are only two realistic options. Pick the one who you think will do a better job and vote for him. Sure, nobody is perfect, but not voting is a waste of your freedom.
  7. LoL!! My wife wasn't happy about us letting the little cow into the garage. She kept yelling, "Keep her clean, she has to wear that for trick-or-treating." Yeah, I guess I stayed relatively clean on that one ..... thats not always the case
  8. I've got some updates. Recently I: Installed a set of front tow hooks from C4x4 Got the interior back together Put on new mirrors I picked up at the JY Changed the water pump Flushed the cooling system Had Andy in PA put on my lift Got the truck inspected It is now officially in roadworthy condition. And I hope, offroad-worthy condition as well I still want to paint it and change the gear lube. Here are some pics of the progress: As it sits now (well, it has the mirrors on now, but oh well) The new headliner. Its nice, but wrinkled a bit by the edges. The newly re-upholstered seat. New coils, isolators, and shocks. Do you think I needed a new water pump? That pipe was a pain to get our of the old pump. Always clean up the hardware! Flushing the cooling system. I need a bigger bucket. Broke the fan shroud, fixed it with zip ties. Had some help from my dad and my little girl .... who thinks shes a cow. Mooo
  9. $6,000 is a lot of money in the Comanche world. Have you considered selling your current truck and combining the proceeds with the $6K to start fresh? You might be able to find one that is already 4x4 with decent paint. Heck, you could buy a completely built rig for $7k. Anyway, just an idea.
  10. Maybe I missed something, but other than the 44, what is so impresive about this truck?
  11. I am going to do a driveway paint job on my MJ. I'm not looking for it to be perfect, just half way decent. I'm gonna sand the whole thing down before painting. I don't want to sand the whole truck more than twice. What two levels of grit would you guys recommend I use?
  12. Thats funny. Yes it is. I had to read it a couple times to get the humor .... at first I thought he really had the design team at work draw up plans for his bumper. Once I figured it out, I got a good chuckle.
  13. My 87 cranks for a bit before it fires up too. But it always fires up. Its totally normal.
  14. Sure that truck is nice, but its even cooler that three MJs showed up randomly in one parking lot. How often does that happen????
  15. Hey man, look at it this way, we are just buying in low!!! As long as it goes back up by the time we retire, we're all good
  16. Hey, you are welcome to your opinion. I'll never tell someone how they should think. Just remember that things are always more complicated than they seem. And most of what you hear on TV is most likely very biased or just a bold faced lie. Bush's problem is his communication .... or lack thereof. Nobody really knows what the heck he is doing because he shuns the press and does a crap poor job of letting the American people know what he is doing. So we end up hearing a bunch of media SPECULATION about whats going on. So, for all we know, maybe he just got delt bad hand and is actually playing it really really well. Or maybe he is a doofus and doesn't know what the heck he is doing. So, in the end, all we are left to do is decide which TV commentater we are going to believe, cause from where we stand, we really don't have any factual information to digest.
  17. I work in the financial industry so I'm seeing all this stuff first hand. I only have a few points to make. 1. I'm a republican, and am never a fan of big government, or of the gov't sticking its fingers in the capital markets .... I prefer them to generally leave us alone and let us deal with our own mistakes. I don't like social programs, and I don't like high taxes (well, I don't like taxes at all, but you get my point). I like private control of most things, not public control. 2. BUT, this "credit crunch" that we are in is a big deal and will impact everyone. You guys are already seeing that its getting harder and harder to get loans ... cars, school, houses, etc. It will get worse. Small businesses will go under without loans to buy inventory, credit card interest rates will sky rocket, etc etc etc. It really could get very very bad. I don't think we're looking at another depression, but it could still suck a big one. 3. The bail-out plan is NOT a blank check. Its not even a bail-out really. All the plan does is allow the gov't to purchase the bad securities from all the financial institutions who carry them on their books. Once those banks and other companies can rid themselves of that toxic debt, it will free them up to start lending again, which is good for everyone. A lot of the securities that the US Treasury would be buying still have value, and that value will most likely increase. In fact, the government could actually make money off this deal. And, they are authorized to buy up to $700 billion in debt, but there is no way they will actually need all that. As a general rule, I don't like the gov't creating these "New Deal" type things ... and this one mught bite us in the arse down the road. But, if I had to vote on the bill, I would vote yes. I think the alternative could be devastating.
  18. Sorry, just couldn't let this one go. I work in that nasty ol' white collar world as a financial analyst .... I know a thing or two about the markets. Obviously stocks are down and the economy is really hurting right now. And most people also know that this whole crisis started back when banks and mortgage companies started allowing people to take mortgages that were interest only, or with adjustable rates ... and they handed them out to people with bad, or no credit. What most people don't know ... or at least don't talk about ... is that it was the democrats with their "everyone should own a home, even if they don't have two nickles to rub together" stuff that started all this. They pushed hard to relax the lending standards so "under-privleged" people could own a home. Our current economic crisis is very detailed, and I won't bore you with all that crap. Nobody really wants to hear about securitized mortgage pools, rating agencies, and broker house & investment bank policies. I'll spare you. But, I think we all learned the hard way that if you can't afford something, you shouldn't buy it. Anyway ... all that to say that you can't point the finger at Bush on the current state of the economy. There are lots of people who you should point at, but on this one, it ain't GW. Laslty, to get back on topic, someone said earlier in this thread that John McCain is just like Bush and we would have more of the same. In reality, McCain is very different than Bush and has a very different style. Part of McCain's campaign strategy is to distance himself from Bush and show how different they really are.
  19. Don't forget that if you are towing something over the factory rated amount, your insurance will most likely not cover anything if something goes wrong. You are right that most vehicles can tow more than they are rated for, but that doesn't mean its safe, or legal.
  20. JCR Offroad has some very nice bumpers! Their front XJ bumpers bolt right onto MJs and look great. I talked with them a few weeks ago, and they are planning to offer their rear bumpers for MJs near the end of this year, or early next year. They are working on getting a plasma table set up to cut out the MJ brackets. I plan to wait until next spring and order a matched set.
  21. My serp. belt started squeaking. I tightened it up to the right tension, but it still squeaks. I am now convinced that its not the belt. I think its one of the pulleys, but how in the heck am I supposed to know which one is bad. What should I do?
  22. uh, yeah, I have a new favorite Comanche! Freak'n awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. Both my floors were pretty bad, but the driver's side was noticeably worse. I would agree that the driver tracking in water, salt, snow, dirt, and what not makes a difference. Maybe not a huge difference though. Where the leaks are has got to be the primary issue.
  24. no lsd here ... I don't do drugs :chillin: Thanks for the replies!!!
  25. I think I've figured out that I should use 80w90 gear lube in my differentials. But, I've seen a few things about adding an additive to the lube. Do I need to do that?
