  1. This is a great explanation - thanks!! I am SU with new leafs with plenty of arch so it seems I'm right where I should be.
  2. I recenlty installed the adjustable lift shackles from Rough Country. Is the angle ok? Its steeper than stock. I am inclined to leave it alone as I'm happy with the lift and the ride seems un-affected. Is there anything I should be concerned with?
  3. So what happens if things won't spin, get stripped, or break off? Do I just swear a lot and go home? I'll see what I can do about the pump and sending unit.
  4. I'm thinking about getting a bed from a JY truck, but I'm nervous about actually being able to remove it. Rules say no power or air tools (battery is OK - which I don't have), so it will all be by hand. I've read how to take off a bed (drop tank, remove eight bolts, lift off frame) ... that doesn't sound too hard. But, I'm sure once I crawl under a JY truck I'm gonna run into problems. What do you guys recommend I do/take to be prepared? I'm planning on taking a good selection of ratchets, cheater bars, hammers, wrenches, etc ..... but what happens if I strip/break a bolt? Also - any suggestions on getting a long bed home with my lb MJ? I was thinking about flipping the bed upside down and placing it on my bed ... just like a cap .... and using four or six big C-clamps to clamp the two beds together. Any other ideas?
  5. From the guys email, he has five in his inventory right now. Prices range from $95k - $124k. Yup, you read that right, over a hundred grand for a restored waggy. Apparently he is getting out of the business, so if you want one ...... better act fast.
  6. I ran across this page. http://www.grandwagoneer.com/ Its a guy in Southern CA who restores old Waggys. And boy does he do a thorough job. Just take a look at the amazing amount of effort he puts into these things. Every detail is covered. I emailed him to find out how much he sells them for. Want to take a guess?????
  7. I've got a lot of bondo on mine, so I went to the local JY and got this for $20. Would something like that work for you?
  8. X2 Thanks Motion!! Very cool of you.
  9. Red
  10. Three nice shirts from my wife. A bright yellow "Jeep" hat from my brother (awesome!!). A Dewalt 5" random orbital sander from my folks .... no excuse to not paint the MJ now  Ratcheting wrench set from my father-in-law. And a whole lot of fune watching my 1 year old daughter tear open gifts and play with all her new toys. Oh, and Motion Offroad sent me a free winter hat .... just cause I'm a "good customer". Thanks Motion!!! Thats some serious customer service right there .... you'll be getting more orders in the future!!
  11. I called JCR on Friday to ask about availability of MJ rear bumpers ..... they are supposed to get pics up on their website TODAY!!!

  15. I've seen about a million MJs with 5" (or so) SOA setups running 33s. They look great. But what would 5" with 31s look like? Got pics? I've been looking for a pic for a while now. I'm about ready to go stick a couple bottle jacks under my truck to pop it up two more inches to see what it looks like :brows:
  16. Here is my truck with 31s and exactly 3" in the front and about 3.75" in the rear. Looks like you have about the same.
  17. Me and a few other guys from NAXJA are heading to Rausch Creek on Sunday December 7th. We'll do a few greens and mostly blues. If some bigger guys come, they might break off and run blacks. Nothing fancy .... I figure 4-6 rigs at best. I'd love to see another MJ along! Anyone want to come?? Its west of Reading, PA. Google Rausch Creek Offroad Park for more details. Here is the NAXJA thread. http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=974853
  18. 1. http://www.panthermartin.com/ Thats me in the red shirt and hat 2. I go to church every sunday .... and actually enjoy it 3. I have a white collar job - but enjoy blue collar living 4. My college roommate tried to push out a big fart and ended up shooting poop up against the wall .... to this day, I've never asked him why he didn't have any pants on ..... :dunno: 5. I caught a small pike in Ontario, threw it back, and watched a bald eagle swoop down, grab it, and fly off
  19. with some 4.56s, my MJ could climb that.
  20. I replaced those stupid towing mirrors with the normal little ones, but it left four holes in the door. I cleaned up the old bolts, put some RTV on the bolts and put them back in. Sanded and primed. I need to get around to painting this thing. And, I got some junkyard junk that might one day get patched into my heavily bondoed bed side.
  21. Hey Brian, when you are working up the new MJ rear bumper, would it be possible to have an option of sliders that extend from the bumper forward to the flares? Something like this?

  23. I'm a pretty "Bible thump'n" type guy .... church a couple times a week, went to a Christian college, go to Bible studies .... I'm about as conservative and "religous" as they come. And I think that picture is a riot!!!!!!!!!! Sure gave me a good laugh when I scrolled down.
  24. Took twenty minutes of work .... didn't seem that bad to me, and I know there aren't any air pockets in the system :dunno: Bleeding the system over a day or so wasn't an option for me .... I needed to drive it the next morning. I guess there are a couple different options .... different strokes for different folks. That is WAY too much work... :ack: I never tried the hose filling method mentioned here, but if you don't want to disconnect hoses or anything, this is the easiest way that I found... http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/view ... =9&t=12311
  25. I followed the procedure in the Haines manual with no problems. Take the cap off the reservoir and fill slowly until reservoir is about half full - its the highest point in the system so that makes sense. Leave cap off and start truck - let it idle for a while until it warms up and the thermostat opens and coolant flows - because of air in the system, the coolant in the bottle will get sucked down in to the system. As soon as the bottle is empty, turn off the truck. While the truck is off, but the system is still open, squeeze the hoses to work air out. Let the truck cool off until the thermostat clicks closed and the system shuts. Re-fill bottle to half full and repeat the process. You will know you are done when, after the truck heats up, it doesn't suck the bottle dry. Be warned - each time you run the truck with the cap off, you WILL get spill-over when the system opens up and air bubbles out. Just clean it up afterwards and don't mind the smell as coolant burns off :waving:
