  1. I have pretty bad toe-in and decided to lengthen the tie rod myself. The collars came off easy enough, but the rod won't turn at all ... it just won't budge. So decided to just take the whole thing out and use a vise. I took the castle nut off the drivers side TRE, but thats where I'm stuck. I don't know what to do next .... nothing budges. This is my frist time messing with the tie rod, so any help woule be appreciated.
  2. It was such a nice day, I decided to start on the sliders and bumpers. First, gave them two good coats with POR15 Metal Prep. Then two coats of POR15. I still have to hit them with some etching primer, then a couple top coats of Satin Black Rustoleum. AND, I still need to get started on prepping the 8.25 and the leafs for the SOA .... which I'm getting done a week from tomorrow. NOT ENOUGH TIME!!!
  3. looks good!! I highly recommend removing the flares and doing the same prep underneath them.
  4. 3" Motion Offroad MJ kit. 3" coils, 3" SUA leafs. 31 BGF M/Ts on Cragars.
  5. x2 on the wax and grease remover. Spray it on, let it sit for a few minutes, and wipe it off while its still wet.
  6. Just for reference, here is a pic of my truck - exactly 3" of lift and 31s. No rubbing on the street at all.
  7. A lot of it depends on what type of driving you want to do, and how concerned you would be with a little rubbing here and there. If you keep it on the street, and don't mind the occasional rub at full lock, you can actually run 31s with 1.5-2" If you want to wheel the truck, get at least 3" for 31s. Also, how cheap is cheap? ;)
  8. I have a brand new JCR rear bumper sitting un-installed in my garage. Would it help if I took pics and measurements of their mounting brackets for you?

Are you allowed to cut the sticks?
  10. You can easily take a stock MJ!! Rausch Creek has different trail levels .... green, blue, black, red. Green trails are designed for stock 4x4s. As long as you aren't stupid, you shouldn't get any body damage on green trails. Here is a shot of a green trail.
  11. Same spacing, the only real difference between XJ and MJ rears is the MJ's are spring under and the way the shocks mount on the axle side. Not exactly true .... in addition to the MJ being SUA and the XJ being SOA, the spacing between spring perches are different on the XJ and MJ. I'm pretty sure that MJ perches are wider than XJ. For example, an XJ rear would not just bolt in as an SOA for an MJ. You would have to move the perches.
  12. I waged war at the junk yard this past weekend. After three hours of fighting underneath a 20 year old truck, this is what I hauled away. I'll clean them up and use them for the SOA ...... eventually.
  13. If you are talking wheels AND tires .... then you are talking about 90% of the guys on this board
  14. Welcome to the forums!! Thats a clean looking MJ you have there.
  15. No - I don't have any. I'll PM you my address
  16. That is oh so true. My wife had a miscarriage on our first. It sucked and was hard to deal with, but we did. Now we have a wonderful girl about to turn two, and a little boy on the way - and everything looks good. Our doctors told us that over 50% of woman miscarry with their first pregnancy. And that 98% of those same women go on to have healthy babies the second time.
  17. 1. There is a nicely built white MJ that parks on Pennsylvania Ave. in Downingtown. SOA, long arms, short box, the works. I think it has an 8.8 rear. Nice truck! 2. There is a stock 2WD, white, LWB, tool boxes in back .... I saw it parked in the Wedgewood apartments the other day. Some surface rust, but looks like a nice solid truck. 3. I've also seen a stock SWB black MJ driving around Downingtown a couple times too. Any of you on this site?????????????
  18. x2 on the mower application. I'm getting tired of flipping that thing over to clean out all the grass that gets stuck up in there.
  19. Great pics! Thanks for taking the time to post them. How is the paint working out? Any squeaking? Where did you buy it? Those packs look to be in the exact same condition as the set I have. How much lift did you get with the SOA?
  20. Can you take some closer pics of the rear cut 'n fold? And maybe a small write-up on how you did it?
  21. I just dug a set of MJ leafs out of the JY this past weekend. For being 20 years old, they actually look pretty darn good. Even the bushings look like they are in good shape. I'm happy with the find and will be using them for an SOA. My question - should I just slap them on, or should I try and spruce them up a bit? And if I'm going to clean them up, how would I go about it?
  22. Oh good lord .... this thread has reached a new low. I mean, c'mon ... a glowing Carebear picture?!?! I'm going back to NAXJA. ;) ;) ;)
  23. I don't mean to judge you or anything man ..... but maybe its not a good idea to keep your wife locked up in the bonus room above the garage. Great looking house by the way!!!!
  24. I think you could go back and forth forever on whether or not people should be allowed to just jump in an post classifieds for MJ stuff or not. But, in the end, it comes down to what are the forum rules. If the rules allow them to post classifieds without being an active member ..... then there is no point complaining. I suppose you could express your opinions to Pete, I'm sure he'll listen and weigh your concerns .... but this ain't a democracy - its ultimately his decision. IMO - if somebody posts a proper add with legitimate MJ related stuff for sale ..... GREAT! It benefits everyone on both sides of the transaction. If its just spam - delete it and move on.
  25. I shortened the LCAs and lengthened the UCAs a bit last night. It helped the pinion, but its still not level. Getting close though. I know I'm losing caster, but I can't figure out how to accurately measure the caster angle. Now I have another problem. As I adjust the CAs, the axle rotates forward to raise pinion, but its also causing the coil springs to slightly bow forward. Is this a problem? Suggestions?
