  1. It was a good ride for sure!
  2. Went wheeling in Helen over the weekend. Just a random pic of some 3 wheel action. Spartan locker working nicely in the 8.8. Few more pics from the trip: Buddy John and his Zeep-- Zebra wrangler
  3. Ive had good luck with sem paint products
  4. I used M.O.R.E offroad shock mounts and skyjacker shocks for a comanche with 4.5 in lift. They are about 1/4 of an inch from max when the axle is at full droop and bottomed out when the wheel is fully tucked. I still need to bump stop it, maybe this week ill do that lol.
  5. Did closed to open cooling system swap today. Just from a 10 mile drive seems like its running about 10 degrees cooler. Used a new 2 row radiator and over flow bottle from an Acura Integra.
  6. No big deal at all. I'll snap a pic when I go to lunch. The valve is connected to the lines coming right out of the master cylinder.
  7. Lol the time was because every fitting was corroded and wanting to strip. I swapped the zj prop cave because it provides proper front rear proportioning for disc brakes. The stock MJ "prop valve" is just a distribution block. The proportioning gets done at the rear load sensing valve. I wanted to eliminate the junk I didn't need, so I just removed all the stock mj proportioning stuff.
  8. Here is what mine looks like now: No more octopus of doom. I swapped in a ZJ proportioner upfront and eliminated the one of the two rear lines from the MJ distro block. I chose to get rid of the line that came directly out of the front of the distro block. The second rear line screwed right into the ZJ proportioner and then I just hooked my braided line to the other end. Pretty simple, just be prepared to fight the line fittings. My Jeep has no rust and the lines were still a major pain to do. 6 hr total no joke. Sorry kinda crappy pics.
  9. Cause all the explorers had 31 spline axles and the 94 and earlier were drum brake axles. The 8.8 out of the rangers had 28 spline axles, thats prob what you were thinking of.
  10. Just an FYI your axle is a 31 spline axle.
  11. I know this is going waaaaaay back but when you attached the bumper to the angle iron did you attach it to the end of the angle iron or to the top of the angle iron?
  12. Thanks! Yeah I live about 40 min north of Atlanta.
  13. Have you been able to find a set of e-brake cables that work yet?
  14. I picked up a set of 33 10.5 KM2 tires and had the Dana 30 regeared using G2 4.10 gear set. Gear swap done my Mild2wild 4x4 customs in Powder Springs, two thumbs up to them. This is how she sits today:
  15. There was so much janky wiring from previous head unit installs under the dash and in the engine bay it wasnt even funny. I cleaned everything up and installed a lancer radio from my girlfriends car lol. The switch is for the torque lock up. I also made a faceplate and gauge mount for the clock location. I upgraded the broken interior lights with S10 blazer rear cargo lights. Stole the idea from another member lol. They work great and you only have to file a tiny bit off of the hole to make em fit. Last month I installed a Ford 8.8 with 4.10 gears. Super straight forward swap. Got the axle out of pull-a-part for $170  Then I picked up M.O.R.E. axle perches and shock mounts. I used Rubicon Express spring plates and U-bolts. Total for the swap was about 290 dollars, I already upgraded the brake lines and replaced the worn out leafs with a really good 2wd set out of the jy as well. So the 8.8 was the icing on the cake for the rear end. Now I got to get a lunchbox locker and Solid diff cover. I also upgraded the front end. Truck came with 4.5in lift springs I then added ACOS, prothane bump stops, JKS quicker disconnects, IRO upper and lower control arms (temporary till I upgrade to longarm later down the road), IRO track bar, Crown brake lines, rukse upper control arm bushings, and Zone off road swaybar extended mounts.
  16. I decided to jump into the Jeep world a few days before christmas 2012. Some of my friends have off road toys as secondary cars so I decided to get one as well. This is my first real 4x4 build but its not my first car build so here she is: Basically what she looked like when I got it. 31 tires soa on dana 35 and worn out leafs with no overload springs. Swapped from 2wd 5-speed to 4x4 HP dana 30 aw4. First thing I did was strip the interior to spray the floor. Thank god there was zero rust cause this jeep was leaking water like a sieve from every common place a Jeep can leak! Then I fixed the starting issues it had by making my own cables out of 2 gauge welding wire. Fixed leaky valve cover with a brand new Zj cover and it allowed me to convert the ccv system to the newer style. Motor is all stock with 112k miles. I also replaced a broken motor mount and the exhaust from cat all the way back. So the Comanche was originally 2wd 5-speed but was converted by a previous owner. When I got it, it still had the clutch pedal in it and super spongy brakes to go along. I swapped in an auto brake pedal assembly and decided to ditch the stock shifter and switch setup that was in the truck. Since the truck didnt have a transmission control unit it has to be manually switched through the gears, so I decided to get a RADesigns Baja II shifter and the stock location Rock shifter to simplify the shifting.
  17. Seems pretty easy to me. Shorter shocks + weld on shock mounts = no more low spot on axle. Could also use these in conjunction with the set up: http://www.currieenterprises.com/cestore/product.aspx?id=982
  18. I have a baja shifter in mine, and my truck is also a 2wd manual to 4wd aw4 swap. The baja works flawlessly, hook up 5 wires and your done.
  19. I think its right around 3 quarts
  20. Any more pics of the rear bumper? It looks like its tucked pretty close to the body, which I like. The pics Ive seen before of Nates bumper look like they are farther from the rear.
  21. You pretty much can't get 3 inches, just from the fact that going from under to over nets the width if the axle and perch. I bought my comanche SOA and it was at about 4.5 with worn out 2wd leafs and no overload spring. I got a nice set of 2wd leafs out of the JY that have overload springs and now the truck sits at about 7 inches of lift.
