A cracked windshield will obscure your vision. A removed windshield will not.

install pics for diff locker

I wouldn't reuse the old one. I'd go to the local hardware store and buy a new one for $1.69. it is called a "tension pin " or "spring pin". -
So this means the one who gives you the tickets? No, the one married to the boss' sister. Don't think I've been pulled over by anything but local police for like 14 years now, and I know all of them personally, so they usually just tell me to either slow it down, or get it the heck home and fix whatever problem there is (like an overloaded trailer without working lights behind a Comanche not rated for towing anywhere near that load). When he stopped by again I plugged the lights into the Suburban to show I had "fixed" the lights. Comanche doesn't have the correct plug yet. They don't actually write me tickets since my ex still signs their pay checks. But when they pulled over my daughter for doing 50 in a 25 zone they called her mother on the spot and got her grounded from her car for three months. She said she'd rather have paid the ticket :D

I have a buddy with an 06 royal enfield for sale. Its the od green reproduction model. If your interested shoot me a pm and I will talk to him about it. "Some day" meaning "probably not before the kids are out of the house". At the moment I don't have near the funds to buy a bike, and still need to finish fixing up my house as well as build a garage. Thanks for the offer, though.

In most states a windshield is not necessary if you wear goggles, safety glasses or full face helmet. Same as motorcycle.

An acquaintance of mine is a deputy sheriff. A while back he ran his own plate for kicks and giggle and found out his 95 Ford Ranger he'd had for 2 years supposedly was a 71 Chevy C10. Turns out the car lot had given him the wrong title and he never looked at it to notice.

Huh? i see 4 pictures underneath each other, not side by side. And the widest ones are only 600 pixels wide. No scroll bar here other then up and down. Ad it looks great to me. Can't think of anything else we'd need.

Yes that is a cargo light, and the dashboard switch is still there also. The headliner is in good shape, but the carpet underneath the rear window is missing. Time constraints would not allow me to remove the headliner or cargo switch. They wanted $45 for the headliner and cargo light, or $12 for the light only. I guess that means $33 for the headliner. They are open 9-5 mon-fri and 9-4 sat. I now do have an auxiliary electric fan and an air cleaner box (mine was in multiple pieces duct taped together) out of a 93 4.0 Cherokee, and the fuel sender unit out of the Comanche. Last time there were 15+ Cherokees with the 4.0, today there was 1 with a 4.0, 12 with a 2.5 and 1 with a 2.8. They go through vehicles pretty fast and cleaned up a lot around the pickup truck area. Tomorrow I will install the sender unit and look at temporarily wiring the fan to my fog light switch/relay, as the fog light are gone. This does mean the fan can only work when the headlights are on though...

Yeah, it'd probably take me about 2 weeks to kill myself on something like that. I'd like to get a Ural Retro some day. Max speed of 55 with the sidecar attached, 65 without. Or maybe a Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Classic. Either way, not powerful enough for me to do something stupid, and they are exactly the kind of look I like.

To be more precise, the gas tank is mounted to the bed, not the frame.

If you have one, the full size center console looks like it will hold tweeters in the back as well.

Well, yesterday I only had about 500 pounds on the truck, but towing a 1200 pound (empty weight) trailer loaded with 4000 pounds of dirt. Going down a steep hill with a stop sign at the bottom, I blew the ds front brake hose and that sucker pushed me right through the stop sign about 10 mph. Luckily it's a township road without a lot of traffic. I guess it's time to put brakes on my trailer and wire up the controller. Never had to worry about stuff like that with the Suburban... Anyway, I just got done replacing the hose. Luckily it was the ds one, which cost $18, as the ps one costs $34  And I finally found a nut on my truck I couldn't get loose. A @%^ 3/8 nut on the hard brake line. So now I had to buy a $0.72 nut and a $11 flaring tool to install it. But I'm all good again.

MJ#757 ..it's an 87...no, it's a 95, no, it's a...97+?

And you didn't even have to get the paint out (yet). :D Looks great, but if it were my truck the front would have to go up a little higher to more closely match the back. I think it has the stance of a 2wd truck (albeit a tall one). -
Thanks for the info. Didn't know that That's the pump I got, but Advance had to order it. Took two days to get it in. Anyway, I have been very pleased with it, I had just one little snafu when installing it on the senDER unit, which was easily solved with tin snips. The kit comes with a new O-ring for the tank, btw, and I did not have to remove the drive shaft. 2wd or swb may be different. I have a lwb 4wd. Since the unit goes into the tank from the side, you do not have to drop the tank, which is good, but you want to make sure the tank is no more than half full if you don't want to shower in gasoline. The side mount does cause another problem and that is that the O-ring on the tank does not want to stay in place, as it wants to slide down. Gravity sucks! I used a little dab of RTV silicone to help it stay in place. If for some reason you are reusing a used O-ring, let it dry for 24 hours first. They soak up some gasoline causing them to swell up. It will not fit in place unless it has completely dried and shrunk back to original size. I myself will be doing this again later this weekend (sender unit has rotted through causing gasoline to leak at the base of both lines as well as the wire grommet and possibly some other pin holes). have fun!

Sending unit for Comanches are not being made anymore. Do not be fooled by parts stores saying they have them. Their computers say the Cherokee is the same as the Comanche, but in fact the Comanche is supposed to be mirror image. There should be no need to get a sending unit unless it is leaking (and usually if it is you are better off fixing it.) If you do get one it will be a used one that is guaranteed to be at least 16 years old. The pumps themselves are interchangeable between Cherokees and Comanches and are held to the sending unit assembly by a single screw (and a rubber busing in a bracket). Don't forget to get a new sock to put on the pickup tube. If the pump comes without you will have to buy it separately, and installing a new pump without a new sock will void the warranty.

My pump was relatively quiet (or at least I thought it was) when I first started the truck, but after 5 minutes or so it got so loud you could hear it from 20 feet away. Drove like that few a number of months until one day I was 90 minutes from home and I was losing power. The truck started bucking and missing whenever I got on the gas, but idle and low throttle was fine. It got worse and worse until I could only get it up to 45 mph on flat ground (and take 5 miles to get up to that speed). Since it wasn't safe to get on the freeway like that I ended up taking back roads, and one last steep hill 2 miles from home I limped over the top at less than 1 mile an hour. Next morning it ran fine again, but after 15 minutes started losing power just like the day before. Replaced the pump and had all the power back even at WOT. And I couldn't even hear the pump unless I had the window open and listened very carefully. I took the old pump apart, but there was nothing visibly wrong with it. It must have been worn out pretty bad, though.

Not positive, but it might be.

My part for today is done and I'm heading to bed. But Rickie still has a 200 vote lead.

I've been adding ~ 100 votes a night for the last few nights. Will do so again tonight.

Well, I broke the second leaf from the top (directly below the main leaf) on the ps rear suspension. I'm guessing this is what caused it: Can you tell I'm used to dealing with full size trucks that can handle a lot more weight? Now I guess I'll take my old leaf packs apart, see which of the two has the most arch and replace it. May just take my old main leafs, cut the ends off and stick them in there as well, for a little more capacity.. Tomorrow I'm getting another load of dirt. Only putting half as much on the truck, though, and the rest on the trailer.

If they look decent I can take them out, but don't know how much they want for them. I guess I could stash them somewhere and then you could get them? It's at Dave Worshill's in (at the east end of) Canton.

I think mine has finally rotted through. I am now leaking gas at the base of the feed line, return line AND wire grommet. Saturday I'm going to see if that 2.5l Comanche is still in the jy. The unit is the same between 4.0 and the 2.5, right? Just a different pump on it? Maybe the forklift can flip it over for me for easier access, as the body is junk anyway. Plan B if it's gone? Wildman, you have any available? Assuming the Comanche is still there, I believe it was a 2.5l, 2wd, bench seat, short bed. The body is mostly junk, but everything under the hood looked all right. Anything else I should get off it for anyone?

Tires. Yes. A tire thread.
mvusse replied to DirtyComanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
He's in British Columbia, north of Washington state. Mississauga, Ontario is like a 2700 mile drive from where he lives... That would be around $1000 in gas there and back again. -
Before I got my new tires I left a 300 foot burn going uphill to work. Tried it on flat ground once and it just barely chirped. Didn't try donuts, though, and most of the mark has been worn off the pavement since then. Now after spending almost $400 on tires, I'd like to preserve the rubber a bit more.

ENGINE/TRANS out - a few questions
mvusse replied to mjtjnj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I was under my truck yesterday working on the exhaust, and I have the same line you're talking about. It comes straight out of the bottom of the charcoal cannister, goes about 6 inches and stops in mid air with a tapered end. Maybe it's supposed to be like that.
