I have a Cobra 19 ultra III with a firefly 3' tunable tip antenna. I have a hood mount that I got from Quadratec. I am just not sure how the measurements are about 3 one minute and pegged to the left after tightening everything down.
-
I have been trying to tune my CB antenna all afternoon. When I started, the SWR for both channel 1 and 40 were right around 3. I wanted to lower that a little. First I checked all of my grounds, they were good. Then I double checked that everything was tight. it was. I made sure that the coax was not touching any grounded out pieces that it shouldn't be. then I went and checked my SWR again. and it was WAY higher. It is almost pegged all the way at the set side when I flip the switch to REF. Any suggestions. I am really confused right now.

Yeah, you should Definitely go through Sedalia then. What I would do is turn off of Santa fe onto 67 and then continue until you reach a bar called the Sprucewood Inn. You will then find a Y in the road. Both roads will end at the river, though staying on hwy 67 (left side of Y) will get you there faster. Then turn left at the end of 67 or Pine Creek road at the river and drive into Deckers. EDIT: Here are the directions I got on Google Maps from Sedalia to the meeting place. 1.Start:Head south on N Hwy-67/CO-67/Manhart Ave toward Platte Ave Continue to follow N Hwy-67/CO-67 13.3 mi 2.Continue on County Rd-40/Pine Creek Rd 3.1 mi 3.Turn left at County Rd-97/S Platte River Rd Continue to follow S Platte River Rd 4.8 mi 4.Turn left at S Hwy-67/CO-67/S Platte River Rd Continue to follow S Hwy-67/CO-67 4.9 mi END:7602 CO-67 Sedalia, CO 80135

what is better this 8.25 or an 8.8

I would take an open over a LS because you cannot put a lunchbox locker into a rig with LSD. -
Both trucks look REALLY nice. Why are you using that 4.0 truck as a donor? It looks too nice to part out. If it were me I would keep the 4.0 truck and find a donor XJ that has been crashed/smashed/or rusted out, and use that for the 4.0/4x4 swap. Just my 2c.

Clunking from Johnny Joint track bar
james750 replied to james750's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Tonight I had someone bounce the truck while I felt all of the joints for play. I determined that the track bar is taken car of by being tightened. The ball joints are okay. The play is in one of the passenger side LCA johnny joints. So, although it is a different component, the same type of joint is causing the problem. I will deal with it when I have the time in a few weeks. -
I broke a swaybar link on the 97XJ today. When I went to remove I was surprised to find swaybar disconnects on the truck. It does have the up country package. The strange thing is that it has factory swaybar links, but the bottom has an odd pin similar to the JKS diconnect lower pin but a smaller diameter to handle the stock swaybar link (not a standard clevis pin). based on that pin, I know that it is not a homebrew (even though everything else looks homebrew). Did the up country XJ's have swaybar disconnects?

Maybe there were different TRE's on the link? I think they are the same thickness.

Clunking from Johnny Joint track bar
james750 replied to james750's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I pulled that track bar this afternoon. The bolt hole looks ok to the naked eye. Is there anyway to check to be sure of the problem? Is there any way to check the joint for play to see if that is the problem? EDIT: Just went down and did a bounce check with the track bar removed and the noise is still there. That leads me to think that a ball joint could be going out. I checked for play by jacking it up and setting a pry bar under the wheels to try and see if there was any play but I saw none. any other ways to check the ball joints? Any other ideas on what else could be wrong. -
About 20 mins after I posted I got one of the worst virus' out there right now. I got sasser, koobface, and Virut. I am off to reformat my hard drive and reinstall windows now. :headpop: Wish me luck. Worst part of it is that I can not save any of my programs or executable files because there is a chance that they have been infected. I was able to save about 1/2 my hard drive with the files/pictures/video that will not be affected by the virus. This SUCKS! :ack: :(

I don't use any antivirus program that runs on a constant basis on my pc. But I do have Malwarebites installed so that I can get rid of a virus when it does attack.

I'm a bit confused. Did only XJ/MJ with an AC come factory with an aux fan? Because my MJ has an aux fan with the factory wiring/connector in there with no AC. Based on the work I've seen from the PO, he didn't add it with how clean it looks. Which options came with the aux fan?

You would HAVE to be. :brows:

Clunking from Johnny Joint track bar
james750 replied to james750's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That is a definite possibility. It is the frame side. When I installed it I had to drill out the track bar hole to a different size and maybe the bolt elongated the hole. :dunno: -
17 here...

I have a Currie Johnny Joint adjustable track bar in the truck now, its been in there for about a year. The past few days I have been hearing a noise when I hit bumps and steer. By having my dad bounce testing the truck I have determined it is coming out of the joint. What would be causing this? Do I need to get a new joint or can I fix my current one? I have greased it constantly and tomorrow I will try rotating the joint a little to see if that takes care of it.
