  1. Bought a 1992 (!) model with a 4 cyl, 5spd 2wd for $150. The sucky part is that NO title is avail. @*&%! out of state vehicles. NO title, NO inspection= NO STREET USAGE. parts only, dag nab it. :grrrr: Factory tow hooks, factory bed bar with lights, grey interior with buckets, and AC that still works. :( This thing says "sportruck" on the side, too.
  2. Wait a second. The black interior is hard to find???? I have the complete black interior for an MJ sitting in a box in the shed by the garage.....I happen to prefer the grey interior, personally.
  3. Put on a new exhaust system... now, you can actually hear the fan spinning when the engine is running. Too quiet. This is with no cat, 2 1/4" pipe and a Thrush "Raptor" turbo style muffler and the pipe dumping in front of the axle.. :hmm:
  4. If you are having taillight troubles, then check and most likely rework the ground connection inside the drivers side taillight pocket. If you the fuel gauge doesn't work and the fuel pump is having trouble, check the chassis ground back at the tank. I have had to re-ground this on 3 different MJs' so far... :headpop: I just go to the frame rail, or bed, depending on which is closer to the break in the wire.
  5. Hey, Smartguy. Y'all still dustin' the Catfish fer ticks, or wot? :chillin: Hopefully, you folks get some more of the much needed rain/run off soon. I know that last summer it was dry. See above comment.
  6. 35* yesterday, today 61* , tomorrow 33* :ack: WTH.??......67* by Wed. :hmm:
  7. Hornbrod, I have a friend that works for Dana here in KY., and they have some "interesting" stuff in the warehouse over there. He is going to try and get me a pair of the TJ Rubi axles next... Now, IF I can find and make friends with somebody that works for New Venture, I might be able to get a better tranny...
  8. Told it " Your a$$ is SO mine, as soon as I put a clutch in the Cherokee". I have a '93 Mushtang Cobra 5.0, NP 435, Early Bronco Dana 20 transfercase ( the straight shift style), and a NOS MJ D-44 rear axle to put in it....hee,hee... :clapping: Come on, Saturday. Oh, and all of this is because the high and mighty AW-4 is slipping in O/D. Stupid automatic tranny. :grrrr:
  9. Do you have a manual for the MJ yet? Even the Haynes manual has a good write-up for the clutch. Oh, 1 piece of advice, from the "did that , wished I hadn't" class- remember to put the flat side of the new clutch plate towards the flywheel, other wise you will be doing the clutch again fairly soon.... :wall:
  10. I welded 2 pieces of chain link on to the arms, so that they do not touch each other, but you can put alock through them. (Of course, I still think that the 208 lbs. of Rott/Akita sitting in the bed is the best theft prevention device to date.... :D ).
  11. You want to start / give the neighbors something to complain about? Then try starting the motor in your dirt track car at 1:30 in the morning on a Saturday/ Sunday morning. Talked about P-d off! :D Think no pipes, just manifolds with turn down stubs.... Scr*w 'em. No noise laws or ordinances out here....
  12. Did mine using parts straight off of a ZJ with ABS. Bolted on, no fab needed, except for the brake hose brackets.
  13. I am having a 'shaft cut down, as I can't find a factory one. The drivetrain is 4.0, AW-4, NP 242 and a D35. The "at rest" length that I came up with is 40 1/4". Still spring UNDER. I hope this helps some.

    Oops.

WOW. BANNED from PRR? Exactly HOW do you manage to do that? Lack of profanity, maybe, or.....? Oh, I know... not enough flaming of someone asking a ?.
  15. That's basically what I said, just with a better explination of the details.
  16. "T" handle every day. NO stupid plastic to break, NO sweaty palm to slip, and power shifting is def. easier when your hand is not trying to slip off the knob ( That doesn't sound quite right, does it? ). :D
  17. I find the that Novak considers the Chev. 4.3 to be a bad candidate for swapping due to its height causing a poor fit under the hood to be nothing but some body talking out of their ( add word/ body part here). The 4.3 is the same height as the 350, so WTH? IDK, apperanetly, they don't want to sell the mounts anymore. I bought a set of the XJ/4.3 mounts about 3 years ago, and they $110, now, they don't even list them.

    "girl's Comanche"

What about Cayemen Green: Doesn't look to bad. I got alot of compliments on it, too.
  19. Around 420 miles/ 20 gallons IF you play nice on the interstate. Going to work and back, a full tank lasts almost 1 month. But then again, it is less than 8 miles to work... :brows: Oh, and this is with a 300,000 mile 4.0, 5 spd., 5" lift 3.55 gears, and 31.10.50.15 Hankook MTs'.
  20. Does the waggy have the 4 headlights on it? Othere than that the grill should fit with no throuble. I have the grill from an '85 Waggy on an '88 XJ.
  21. Actually, you can the parts to get rid of the stupid plastic line, but you have to call AA, and they aren't exactly cheap, either.. For the FWIW column, my 1986 MJ was external when it had the 4 spd in it, and the 5 spd. that I put in when I converted to 4x was external also. I do not know if it is "4 banger" thing, though.
  22. I am running comp from from an AW-4 XJ in my Mj with a pukegot, with no troubles for the last 5 years.
  23. Well, I simply used the combination cargo/brake light set-up from a late model (98-00?) ranger. The good thing is, the light has the right curve to match the MJ roofline and uses a gaskt. The bad news is, you have to cut a pretty long hole in the sheet metal. I have also use the hatch mounted brake light from a97 and newer XJ in the roof. I also tapped the brake light switch both times for the light. The cargo light was simply connected using the factory wiring, and a factory switch put in the panel, but not marked as the cargo light (I an not find the correct switch panel).
