It has a 3" body lift and 3" blocks on it now, The front springs are at negative arch or it would be sitting level . It has 33"s on it now so with a good lift and a 2" body lift it should clear 35's with ease
-
Yup the wifes ok :D She hasent killed me yet after all the toys and money spent the plan is 6" lift 35's black paint, red interior, custom bumpers, winch and rollbar for the bed, Just the basics for now :D
-
Nope all factory :D the buick 350 was a special option the engine was rated at 230hp in 2barrel carb trim and 285 hp in 4bl trim The one I have is the 4Bl. I also found out it has 4.10 gears

Its not an MJ but :D Well theres been a new project added to the list It's my wifes 1971 J2000, The specs are buick 350, TH400 trans , dana 20 Tcase, D44 axles front and rear. Also for some reason the old owner put a stepside chevy bed on it , but I kinda like the way it looks. This is gonna be a long term project ( at least thats what the wife says )

Except for the sway bar end links it has been the opposite for me  The lower control arms and track bar are good and stout the ubolts and other assorted hardware are working fine. Its just one coil spring and the service that suck for me. I have learned my lesson though, It seems like every time I try and save a few bucks the ole jeep gods smack the snot outta me :D
-
They said they where rock crawler springs, I talked to a few other people who have said wait and buy the RE springs. It may cost more but it will be better in the long run. My YJ has an RE lift on it ( RE extreme duty 2.5 lift ) and after 5 years trail riding an DD it's still at 2.5".
-
Unfourtunatly the lift was bought in feburary it has just taken this long to settle and sag :headpop: I would do the ACOS But I is a PO jeeper  . Only one paycheck and three teenage daughters ( one of which drives a lifted XJ/ money pit :D ) will slap the snot outta a jeep bugjet.

I have tryed polite and It hasnt worked, I only started bashing them after they have started draggin @$$. As far as listening to people on the web you can get 10 diffent opinions from ten diffrent people on any given day, so who says whos advise is right? Sometimes you gotta do like I did and learn the hard way. The only reasons why I got the rustys kit was beacuse I wanted the rear packs ( which are damn near perfect) and the fact that I had a set of 4.5" springs that I donated to a fellow jeepers project ( http://www.oramagazine.com/pastIssues/0 ... -name.html ) and they worked great and they where a few years old and had an @$$ load of trail miles on them.

I am gonna call these guys tomorrow and get some details but this seems like a sweet price , don't it? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jeep-Che ... enameZWDVW

I paid by check so thats out :headpop: The folks there usualy send me a tracking number whenever they ship something out . Thats why I called them back when the stuff did not arrive. If I had only saved the pennies and went RE.

Well here's the latest up date  I still don't have a replacement coil for the sagged POS I have on the DS , I still don't have sway bar end links that work ( built to long by the fine folks at rustys ) and the front of my MJ is sittting at 3" lift not 4.5 and to top it all off one of the rustys( Every male voice on the phone seems to be named rusty :headpop: ) Got about $#!&ey when I called for the 3rd time , because the last too times they said they shipped the spring and links they didnt. I am so pizzed I can't see straight

Cool :D Thats got it. Now I just need to get another XJ/MJ fog light switch and wire it up.
-
The panel to the left of your steering column should have two knockouts for switches. One will be used by the fogs. What else is there? The "panel" on the right isn't really a panel on MJs -- it's a dummy that's plastic riveted to the dash bezel. You can get the actual switch mounting pod from a wrecked XJ and cut the dummy filler plate out of the MJ bezel, but why bother if you already have a place to put it? On the left of the column is my front fog light switch and my cargo/bed light switch. This is why I was a bit confused, since the MJ has front fog lights I didnt know how the lights for for sport bar where switched from. My only guess is that you got one or the other set of lights not both and they used the same switch for either?
-
SAWEET :D Looks like those rustys leafs are doin good. Ya gotta love an MJ on the trails
-
Cool :D , I was just wondering since I have the front fog lights on the bumper where they would have put the rollbar light switch, Now I know :D I guess I will get another fog light switch and set it to the right side of my column and wire it up . Thanks :D
-
Ok MJ techies :D here's a question , I am getting my factory LWB roll bar 1st week of june. I want to put a set of lights up on the bar , since it has two tabs for lights I am assuming that they where a factory option with the sport bar. so does anyone have any idea where the wiring for the lights might be and where does the switch go? ( I am assuming again that it goes into the blank spaces on the right side of the column) has anyone seen this setup on an MJ ? . My MJ had the sport bar from the factory but was not wired for lights.I have not been able to find any refrences to sport bar lighting , wiring , or switches in any FSM I have or can borrow.
-
Looks like a fog light connector?

Eureka :D I just found what I needed, The engine is a "J8S" :D The reasearch can continue 8)
-
Thanks for the quick responces :D I did a search on Yahoo and found a few sites that deal with the winnys and the renault engines but none list the engine number, I know it is a 2.1 TD but renault has about 7 varietys of TD and the sites I found don't break them down by year.\
-
Does anyone have any idea what model renault turbo diesel engine was used in the MJ/XJ'S? I am doin a bit o reasearch :D for $#!&es and Giggles.
-
My rear brakes are lockin up Big time  , It does not matter where I put the laod sensor valve arm they still lock up nicely when I have to stop quickly, Any one have any idea on what I can do to correct this? Preferably cheaply :D

question on internal slave quick fix
Cabz replied to ejndssn's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Nope  The internal slave bell houseing does not use a release arm , the slave pushes directly on the P Plate. The external BH has a release arm that the slave pushes on . In short your gonna have to pull the trans either way. -
8) Well since you have started the operation DR Pete :D Keep us informed on the paitience status. It Just seems for DD and mild trail rig ,that would be a sweet setup I kinda wonder how the 242 would take to having lockers releasing and relocking around corners? ( lockrights or aussies that is)
-
Has anyone ever seen this setup? was it an option? I would like to run a 242 case if I can,and if I stay 5spd on the ole wreck , I was wondering if this would fly?
