  1. Well, on the road, around town, first gear is basically useless... I mean I have to shift before I get to like 10 mph... I can "start" in second gear and it feels basically like my 1st gear did before the regear... I still have pedal to spare in 5th gear going uphill at 65-70mph... I expect I will blow up my engine faster now that I feel like I have a little more power... Thanks for all your help with the speedo gear... I got "rug-rat" duty, so didn't take it out of the garage this evening after messing with it
  2. I like Shup as a front end app to upload to imageshack to post here... makes it easier (thus I post a lot of pics) http://www.shup.com/
  3. 3.07's... the "43 and 14"... 43 / 14 = 3.07... I think it's 43 teeth on the ring and 14 on the pinion.... http://www.jeepforum.com/wiki/index.php/MJ_Comanche 3.07 - used with 4.0L I-6 engine / manual transmission. 3.31 - used with the rare "Fuel saver" package in '86. 3.55 - used with 4.0L I-6 engine / automatic transmission and with the 2.5L I-4 / 4 speed manual. 4.10 - used with 2.5L I-4 engine usually with 5 speed, also came with '86 Metric Ton models. 4.56 - rare but can be found on some older (~ '89 ~) models with 2.5L I-4 engine and auto transmission
  4. I don't think I heard anything like a spring, or any noise for that matter...but I haven't pulled it out of the garage to know if it's actually working yet or not...
  5. ??? I feel really stupid, because this shouldn't be this hard...
  6. the Fork will go on in multiple places... I have no clue which way the Tooth indicator mark should be pointed... i've now got 3 different responses and none of them sound like what I'm looking at...
  7. That's the problem, I can't find any tic mark on my T-Case or anything to line anything up too...I know the Fork that holds it in goes into 2 of the ribs on the top of the plastic part, but I can't see where I'm supposed to be lining the Tooth Mark too...
  8. Mine sits 90 degrees counter-clockwise from the position in your third picture. With what tooth Gear? So the mark on the "32-38" actually points toward the bolt holding the retaining clip/
  9. OK, here is what I'm looking at... can someone tell me where this "imaginary" line that I'm supposed to align this thing too?
  10. I just emailed the Historical Information Email Link at the Walter P. Chrysler Museum to see if they had any info or knew where we could get some... not holding my breath, but 30 seconds of my life just to see...
  11. I also thought that chart listed on 4x4 Models or something that was only a subset, but maybe I'm remembering wrong... was in a book or something... brain going south...
  12. Still not carpeted... But the carpet is going back in, right? Are you looking for something until the carpet goes back in? If so, the Husky liner coverd the hole(s) in my floor before the fix and new carpet. Main Carpet Going in... want carpeted floor mat to go on top of carpet... Like These (what I have in my TJ) Amazon.Com these, but looks like 95+ Cherokee... Are the floor shapes drastically different? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/compat ... f_dp_chart
  13. I got full tach and ZERO Speedo (no bouncing). I'll check the Cable up top first and if it's in good, then I'll pop the housing off again... I can read the #'s on the housing, I just didn't don't see anything to align them too... SW,Follow align the number to the red line Motion Offroad provided and it should work. JD My Numbers are on the Top Flat Part of the Housing and not the Side like that pic, but will see what I see...
  14. I got full tach and ZERO Speedo (no bouncing). I'll check the Cable up top first and if it's in good, then I'll pop the housing off again... I can read the #'s on the housing, I just didn't don't see anything to align them too...
  15. MY TCase housing doesn't look quite like that... I have the cast section right below the Speedo Gear Hole where the vaccuum lines run in...
  16. ???? As I recall there are only notches on my tcase at 3,6,9, and 12 O'clock and the adapter plate for the speedo housing that can be aligned to the notches has the tooth count in four sectors corresponding to the notches. I didn't notice any teeth numbers on my housing because it was rusted, I got another one from the JY and it had the numbers. Hmmm.... So if I installed it correctly, the Tach us also affected, correct... On the way to work today, I have Tach, but no Speedo...maybe it popped out of the back of the Speedo @ the Dash (clip isn't the most secure) when I was yanking on the speedo cable.
  17. Where is the "mark" on the T-Case that i'm supposed to be matching the side of the cable housing too? I see the Numbers on the end of platic ring on the Speedo cable, bit can't see anything on the t-case...
  18. I think I'm going to be able to clean up and reuse my OEM Carpet... So once I find the water intrustion, I'd like to get some new floor mats... I have some nice Nifty Fitted ones for my TJ that have the floorsnaps to keep them in place, etc... Does anyone have any recommendations for nicer Floor Mats?
  19. Chrysler jacked the price on them about 6-7 months ago. They used to be like $20, now they are over $80. $50 is a good price to be honest with ya and I doubt you'll find it cheaper. If you do you've most likely found someone who's not aware of the price raise... i got my 37tooth @ http://www.mopardiscountparts.com/ for $11+ shipping (bout $20 total), but they don't have the 39 tooth... 21. Anyone compare these to the JCR's? "The main tube is made with 3"x2" boxed tubing with a 3/16" wall."
  22. Cool... will try to install this evening... I got no idea how fast I'm going right now...
