  1. Ditto on the key thing. My son's XJ is like that, it would be nice to find a source for the round blanks :headpop: .
  2. mjtjnj When you added water to the cowl duct, how much did you add? If you filled it too much water would overflow into the vent duct (its in the cowl on the passenger side and hard to see). Try adding water again, only let a small stream in, just enough so that it won't overflow the vent duct lip which IIRC is about 1.5 inches tall. Also watch to see if water is coming out of the cowl drain located on the engine side firewall below where the heater hoses go into the heater core. There should be a drain hose attached to it. This hose has a tendancy to plug up so you should check that too.
  3. I agree with the others, take a break....and yea it sucks not having the money! Lets look at it another way tho, emphasize the good. To me, fabbing is a blend of art and science where you are the author/creator of something unique. Many of us, including myself, lack such skills which can be frustrating when something breaks or needs replacing and we don't have the money to buy or the equipment, raw materials or talent to fabricate. :headpop: So, take a break, but don't lose site of your ability and talent to do something that many of us can only dream about :clapping: !

    New Book

sinnaevd Thanks for the link, just ordered mine    !
  5. Front half is unibody as DirtyComanche says. However, the bed sits on frame rails (yes you can remove the bed) therefore making it a hybrid unibody. Nice if you want to make into a flatbed or a truggy!
  6. I think you did an awesome job. Add some rockers and rock n roll (pun intended) You can always add paint later or not!

    Frappr map?

You may need to wait a while as it takes a couple minutes to populate the map, even w/ broadband :brows: !

    Frappr map?

    Oops, i fixed it.........

    Frappr map?

    Here ya go: http://www.frappr.com/comanche
  10. Our 93 GC's D30 is low pinion! (with ujoint axleshafts)
  11. If Upcountry ZJ coils are 17.5", then in order to get the slightest amount of lift they would need to have a higher spring rate. I just went outback and measured a pair of standard XJ springs and they too are 17.5" :huh???: !
  12. IIRC but i think someone on one of the other boards did the swap, without any mods, at least thats what he said!
  13. Yes, i believe they do, base upon factory part #'s anyway (They are the standard 6054's.) 8) .
  14. IIRC You need to remove the interior door panel to access one of the lower mounting bolts. Yea, its a PITA, another round of applause for the Jeep engineers! :clapping:
  15. Its from the front wheel well on sons XJ. The vertical tube is the steel brake line coming from the MC and as you can see, the rubber grommet is pretty shot! Again sorry for the large, um huge pic
  16. I say at least wire wheel em. I've been using the brass wire wheels lately and am pleased. For paint: Duplicolor Engine enamel IMO. I have used rustoleum, but now use Dupli and really like :chillin: !
  17. Vey nice! Now i'm jealous. Man, look at the travel on those, especially the rear ones  !
  18. Go figure! The reason for the ? was when i went to the boneyard i saw a 84 GW with Dana 44's so i measured the back axle and springs and came up with the same distance (from eye to eye) as my MJ. I know that the spring perches are different, as well as the gear ratios, axles, lugs... but i got to thinkin (watch out) and wondered if Jeep was using same leaf springs on GW as MJ!
  19. DW is usually associated with worn or loose steering component(s) such as the track bar, TREs, hubs, etc. I don't think switching to leaf springs will necessarily fix the problem. DirtyComanche, I thought GW axles were 58" WMS to WMS. :dunno:
  20. GIRsMJ86 - No, i thought about doing it myself but the compressor was shot as well, so i had it done by local mech. The red and blue fittings are typically what you get with the store bought kits. The elbow i got from NAPA for easier access to low pressure side (blue), which is where you add refridgerant. The fittings just screw onto the old, schrader like valves. Charging the system essentially involves adding refridgerant to the blue low pressure side (opposite the one i am pointing at!). I would make sure that your fittings are on their proper sides and that you get all of the old R-12 evacuated out of the system? You might want to think about changing out your receiver/drier if you have not already done so. Its kind of like a filter and traps contaminants as well as old R-12 oil which is not healthy for your compressor when combined with R-134a oils and refridgerant! Let me know if you need help finding the high and low sides or have other ?'s. I am by no means an A/C expert, but am glad to share what i know. Dan
  21. DansGreyMJ, Here you go: As you can see they are quite large as GIRsMJ86 pointed out
  22. Hmm, you must of come over from JU ! Don't worry, its a lot saner over here. Welcome to the club! :waving:
  23. Sorry to hear that. After a closer look, it looks like the pinion got dinged too. How did the locker fair?
  24. Big junks out of the ring gear, man how did that happen?
