I think i finally figured out the picture thing, thought I would share a few pics :D [/b]

juan, hopefully this will make a little more sense. The aux fan is run from two circuits, one is the sensor in the radiator (which sends a signal to the relay you already tested) and the other off the AC/defrost circuit. The fan will only run when the sensor gets to a certain temp, or whenever the AC/defrost is turned on (the other circuit). This is why the red wire ties into the AC relay... With the engine running, turn on the defrost or AC (thereby completing the circuit). If the fan does not start, listen if the AC relay is clicking on and off... If not you should check the AC relay as well. This will help determine what to check for next, should the relay turn out OK.

Yea, i'm doing the same thing with my 89 MJ. If you trace one of the red wires from the aux. fan relay, it should have a green fusible link on the end of it where it terminates (or begins power wise) and that is at the starter solenoid by the front passenger area of engine compartment (along with a birds nest of other fusible links). The FSM has a good procedure for checking it :?

Pete, The mirrors you went with are about the size i was thinking about. Much better view, higher mounting. The CJ mirrors do look a little too big. :-D
-
I know this is not a factory option, but it would be interesting to see what a pair of Wrangler mirrors look like on a MJ. Or anything else that would allow better view for that matter. I have the first set that Eagle is describing, not much viewable image IMO :P .

FACTORY height & LIFTED height
ROADLESS replied to CWLONGSHOT's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Rechecked my MJ which still has stock suspension, came up with 18.5 inches in front and 19 in back. :-D -
Nice looking ride. Correct me if i'm wrong, but is your MJ pre-91 with a HO 4.0 transplant 8) ?

R.E. FIXED legnth UCA's....
ROADLESS replied to CWLONGSHOT's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Those look like RE SR2 UCA's, used on superflex kits 4.5" up to 5.5". I think the PN is RE3781 :) -
Another welcome to the forum. Assuming your 4.0 is the HO in combination with 2wd and SWB, i bet you can really roast the tires! Anyway, nice looking Comanche and bike too :-D. BTW is yours a manual or auto tranny?
-
Don't know if this qualifies, but i moved the 'stock' EVAP canister and placed it behind my front bumper (similar to where the large vacuum tank is mounted, only on the drivers side). It cost nothing, and I can now turn the oil filter on its side, and i can see/access my starter from the top! If anyone is interested i can post pics. :-D

AX15's and BA10/5's are 5 speeds, right?
ROADLESS replied to mjeff87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My guess is its an AX-4. :o -
starfox, welcome to the forum. Although i have not done this conversion (mine is already 4WD) I would think that the best source vehicle, other than another MJ, would be a 91-93 XJ (Cherokee) with the same engine as the one you are looking at. Yes, a non CAD axle would be preferable, but they are found in XJ/MJ's that have the 'Select Trac' t-case (NP-242) and are most likely mated to the AW-4 auto tranny (i don't know why). Also. the wiring for the accessories that you want should match up well.

My puke goat is dying from a fluid change
ROADLESS replied to Frankensteinsmj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Did you do the post about putting mineral oil or something like that from NAPA? I would still think about the Redline MT-90, maybe see if you can get your $ back if it doesn't work. Wouldn't hurt to ask. -
I think pingpong just answered the Q! :-D

Good to see another duffer (yea i'm one too) on the forum. Having recently joined i can say this is a great place, the youngins arent too hard are ya also and yes they are quite knowledgable! :-D
-
That just sucks, I went through a similar experience recently (in my sons 88XJ)....arrrggggh. Anyway, we took it to Speedy's and got windshield replaced for $175, which was 25 less than our deductable  !

what's the correct fluid for the ba10/5
ROADLESS replied to Frankensteinsmj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I recommend using Redline MT-90 fluid. Its a synthetic 75W90 fluid. A little pricey at $8/quart but has worked very well for our XJ/MJ's. -
Welcome. Very nice looking MJ, love the paint. What size tires in webshot pics? Also, how far are you from Reno area? :-D
-
I would think that keeping them stored in a dry, out of the elements place would suffice. From what i see in the boneyards, you can tell which ones are left out, rusted rims, UV affected tires, etc. The ones kept inside are'nt as rusty or cracked and faded. Just my $.02 8)

What cage to use as a start
ROADLESS replied to pingpong's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Found this link http://rockhard4x4parts.com/ ,don't know if thats what youre after or not  -
I would definately go with the FSM (it has over 1300 pages). Far superior than Chilton and Haynes combined! The book itself is hard to find and expensive, but worth it. You may be able to get a used one on eBay, if not, get the less expensive CD version of the FSM (eBay again). :-D

Ultimatley, I am looking at running 33's with 4:10 gears or 3:54 gears with a Tera Low range t-case (4:1). I also need to replace the D35. Will post w/pics once i get underway.

Thanks Pete, I should have known it sounded TGTBT  BTW, who has the best info out there on doing a SOA?
