  1. I'm guessing somewhere along the lines, someone replaced those 4 bolts with standard hardware. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they should have a smaller diameter head from the factory. Save from the occasional odd-ball replaced bolt, I've always been able to get at them pretty easily with an 8mm ratcheting wrench... FWIW...
  2. Fusible links? Under the relay cover?
  3. Dorman Motormite 85483
  4. This was done using the headliner from a 99 Cherokee. Not perfect, But for the ~$30 invested, I'm happy! It was a bit tricky to get it to fit right, and I had to get creative to fill in the hole for the overhead console, but with some ingenuity it can be done!
  5. If everything else points to the fuel pump, be sure to check for power/ground loss in the wires just before the tank. Ideally, BEFORE DROPPING the tank... I once had a '98 (up country) XJ die on me in the middle of a trail run. No fuel. Decided it was the pump. Got pulled up hills, and then had a few crazy scary rides down with no power steering or brakes... Not fun. After a 60 mile flat tow home, she was in the driveway. Started the process of removing the tank skid and broke the first 2 bolts I turned. (Rusty Iowa Jeep originally) Got out the PB Blaster, gave em' all a good spray, and proceeded to break another bolt. Decided I'd better properly diagnose the problem before opening up a huge can of worms. Long story short, my test light revealed a broken power wire right where the harness starts going over the top of the tank. A simple heat shrink butt-connector got her right back on the road and could have avoided everything!!! :fs1:
  6. FWIW, I've owned 2 factory bench seat MJ's (an '87 and an '88) and was involved for a while with another, (a '90) and ALL 3 had the center belts. All appeared to be factory, and all were stacked using the same two bolts for the outer belts...

One of the first short beds ever? 1987 Comanche Sportruck Purchased 4/21/14 - as I got her... (after a couple hours with the hotsy) 2.5 / ax-4 / 231 3.55 D30/35 Build date is illegible, but I'm guessing early August '86 based on this: http://comancheclub.com/topic/23211-1jths6412ht001663/ Currently located in Fort Collins, CO and just recently put back on the road after ??? years sitting... Pretty basic, white with peeling clearcoat. Sportruck decals were removed long ago but the shadow remains. Originally a vinyl bench/vinyl floor mini console truck. Strangest thing I've noticed yet, is that It did not, and appears to have never had the carpeted panel at the back of the cab. (jack sticker directly on the sheet metal, no holes in the floor where the "feet" sit.) This may or may not be unusual, but I've never seen one that NEVER had it... Edit: Just noticed, it also only has (1) windshield washer squirter (center). Wierd... APPEARS to have been purchased originally from Friendly's in Boulder CO, and still wears the original emissions tag stating that it was built for primary use at altitudes above 4000 ft.
  12. I'd agree with the custom thing... More curious where it all came from! The mini truck days sure brought to light some interesting ideas!
  13. Slow day at work... Browsing the web I came across this: http://www.autobidmaster.com/carfinder-online-auto-auctions/lot/10493800/COPART_1988_JEEP_COMANCHE_E_CERTIFICATE_OF_DESTRUCTION_TAMPA_SOUTH_FL/ Poor truck... But interesting! Anyone ever seen a cluster like this? Or those seats? Opinions?
  14. Has anyone successfully matched the burgundy/cordovan interior from a spray can? I've spent DAYS researching, bought 3 different colors (all too bright), and been told by my local dealership that the OEM spray is NLA (no longer available) in cordovan. The OEM part number I was given is 4504707. Maybe one of our resident Mopar folk can double check/verify for me? 1987 MJ HH9 Interior code Thanks in advance!
  15. Heated "leather" custom job from an '02 Chrysler 300 Look familiar?
  16. Pm sent!
  17. I've got a COMPLETE set of bench belts/buckles in tan, but my OCD won't allow me to split them up... 2 shoulder belts w/retractors, 1 center belt, and 3 buckles. I'd take $60 for EVERYTHING, SHIPPED, anywhere in the US.
  18. PM Sent!
  19. PROOF! I'm about 90% sure I've got a spare packed away somewhere... Will let you know if/when I find it!
  20. My Johnny Lightning / Dremel tool attempt. Paint was still drying, hence the no glass, hood, or bumper. Not perfect, but I like it.
  21. Sold my XJ back in August, with no intentions of replacing it. Figured I'd see what it was like to have $$$ in the bank for once... Until... Damn Craigslist! 1987 MJ Short bed 4.0l AW4 4x4 NP231 Buckets with console/floor shift Dana 44 limited slip 163k miles $1600 HAD to have it... The truck came with a nice topper, but it was off before I even had a chance to take a picture in the daylight. Piece by piece I began getting parts together to do this--- So far I have done: SOA rear using T&T 0.5" UBE's RE 4.5" Coils RE Superflex LCA's 2" coil spacers New shocks JKS disconnects YJ front brake lines Dakatoa rear line 16" Moabs 235/85-16 Firestone Destination MT's Acrylic headlight housings 97+ mirrors Pioneer head unit Poineer 400W amp 12" JBL sub And still under $2800! To come: 97+ front clip 97+ interior Paint Who knows!
  22. About a month ago, I scored a clean, rust free '87 SWB 4.0L AW4 4X4. I have had SEVERAL XJ's but this is my first MJ I plan to do the lift tomorrow, and add to it bit by bit later on... I will be doing the lift at work, (~5") and will need to be able to drive away tomorrow night. My question... What am I forgetting? I have: LCA's UBE's (for SOA) Coils Shocks Anything else you can think of that I will NEED? Thanks in advance!
