Overheat light just messing with me?
maddzz1 replied to 1974CJ5's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Maybe the temp sensor is going bad. -
I say it depends on the condition of the bed. Good condition ones are getting hard to find. If it is a rust free bed then I would probally swap a rusted one on from one of your other Wisconsin deal Mjs and cut that one.

I think its a good idea for your stated purpose. I would just use thick enough tube so that if it rubs against a tree it doesnt just bend and hit the cab anyway.

A transfer case won't bolt up to a 2wd tranny. You will need to find a 4wd donor.

Yes, I know that. The intake I was thinking of buying has an HO intake with it. Thats what my second question was referring too. I was asking about auto or manual TB. Doesnt the auto TB have extra brackets for the throttle cable and stuff that the manual does not have.
-
After going back and reading the write up on gojeeps site again I see that the upgrade was from an earlier HO to a later HO. Does anyone know of anyone getting this to work on an Renix era 4.0?
-
If the throttle body on the intake is for an automatic will it then just be a direct swap?
-
Will an intake from a 2000 TJ 4.0 work on my 89 4.0? If the throttle body on the intake is from a manual tranny would I need to swap the throttle body from my automatic onto it? Will it fit?

After 86, the 231 is the only TC available on an MJ

:hijack: I also wondered about this because my light has never come on when I put it in 4hi. Until I read a thread last week I didnt even know there was a light. After reading that I decided to try and put my transfer case into neutral to see if it was even shifting and it would not shift past 4hi. So now I need to check the linkage when it warms up. If I lock the shift fork over how can I tell if it is actually shifting into 4WD when I put it in 4hi?

Yes, it works. Here you go. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=8093

I'm not positive rob, but I'm pretty sure the FSM says that the fly wheel cannot/should not be resurfaced. So you may want to check with Eagle. Better to buy a new one now rather than have to pull the tranny again in a few months.

Thats great. When you "reminded" him there were three more nuts he needed to remove to get the hub off he should have handed you the tools and offered to pay you to do the job. :shake: I would have gotten very nervous when the torch came out.

OK, I'm Stupid about 4WD in MJs
maddzz1 replied to rworks's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You also said a "stock 242", MJs didnt come with a 242. So if your truck has a 242 that is a sign that someone has changed some stuff. -
Rob, It probally got low on fluid from the leak and now has air in the line. I would try bleeding the system. This should atleast get your clutch working again temporarily so you can try and find where it is leaking from.

Faxon - Comanche Shop Manual
maddzz1 replied to glundblad's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Your best bet seems to be to buy it on a CD. They seem to be around alot for all different years. There are a few different places that sell them but they are usually very expensive. If you can find a decent FSM for an 88 or 89 it should work for you as not much are different. I scored the whole set (4 books) for my 89 for $25 plus shipping on Ebay. So keep chcking and they will turn up now and then. -
I didnt think it was a stock bar, I just posted about that on Tazs' thread. You can tell by the way the mount on the rear bar is flat and not angled.
-
I have also heard of alot of Intrepids having the same problem.

My sister in law has a 200? grand am with 70,000k. She brought to a shop and had them flush the cooloing system and do an oil change. 2 days later the head gasket went; it had no problems prior. I'm not really familiar with those flush machines alot of shops use now, and I'm not even sure if they used one. Could something the shop have done have caused the problem? or is it just coincidence? I know nothing can be proven but with only 70k it seems premature for the head gasket to go.

From what I have heard/read the NAPA gold series are made by wix. If i remember, it says so on the box. I don't know about the rest

Pawtucket-just over the south attleboro line. Sounds like there could be some good opportunities for wrenching parties when it warms up. I'm always ready to come and help someone out or offer my driveway/garage to someone to get some wrenching done. :wrench:

H4 Headlight conv wiring questions
maddzz1 replied to Str8OuttaBallard's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
After reading those links I think the reason for adding the relays is to keep the factory harness intact incase you decide to go back to it later on. -
You can get them at napa. Ill get you the link. BRB. http://www.napaonline.com/masterpages/N ... entilation http://www.napaonline.com/masterpages/N ... entilation http://www.napaonline.com/masterpages/N ... entilation
