  1. GREAT NEWS!! When my second lab was diagnosed with cancer, That was just before christmas 1990. Naturally I went for a second opinion. It was even more dire than the first one. Ultimately he was given a year to live. He lasted 54 weeks... excuse me.... that was 1991.. there are tears in my eyes now recounting this... he didn't eat one bite more of dog food from that day on. He died in my brothers arms as we drove him to the Vet. That was January 9, 1991 @ 08:45 hrs. Right now it feels like it was yeaterday.... :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( CW
  2. THANK YOU!! Your spot on, that's a good read!! LOTS of great ideas from his build!! Now there is a guy who can weld!! PURE CANDY!! CW

  4. I agree with you, Thisd pic: Image Not Found This pic IS INSPIRING!!! Do you by chance know where you saw it or possible have any more pics? I LOVE the look of the J series gate!! CW

  7. WOW, that's quite the deal on that winch!!! Years ago, I made my first MJ bumpers aot of 5" sprinkler pipe!!! I think they came out good!! Pics are EASY!! Sign up for a pic hosting site. most are free. I like photo bucket, Pete likes picture trail. IIRC both have a free membership. then once your pics are there, you are provided click-able, paste-able links to add them to your posts here or anywhere!! Also I believe there is a stickies here somewhere on posting pics... CW
  8. The tires look great!! Please be sure to post up how you like or not like them. As I said, I too will be buying a new set son and these are on my short list... I agree, that bumper is kinda hokey. Throw on the stocker and see what you think.. not too hard and just to look you don't need all the bolts. If you like it, add the rest of the bolts!! CW
  9. Its in the first pic in the first post... CW
  10. For not knowing what to say eagle.. you said it pretty well! :shake: I agree, I too have lost a couple of my best friends and family. Never easy, but its a part of life. What doesnt kill you, makes you stronger. seems a bit cliche, but the older I get the truer it becomes. CW
  11. Truck looks pretty good overall! Hate to hear your gonna thrash it. IMHO, Buy a XJ and do this, there are FAR more of them out there. I would also look at those rear shocks... the geometry seems off. Most efficient shock placement is at extreme end of axle mounted straight up. Angles slightly back at the top OK as this is how axle moves. With tops slightly tipped in, is also OK but both less efficient. Its a good way to get a slightly longer shock to fit. But NEVER mount it angled back AND angled in as yours appear to be!!  If that's how they are. I doubt they are doing much of anything for you. BTW, They certainly do make an array of lockers for the D35!! :D Good luck with it!! CW
  12. Ahh, because its whats happening right here in the great USA... Do you live under a rock? CW
  13. My local club is running an online raffle for a Viair compressor. Cost is a measly $10 a try, internet only 100 tickets ONLY! Give it a look and try your luck!! I bought mine!! :brows: http://www.jonfund.com/forum/ubbthreads ... Post115176 http://www.viaircorp.com/450p-a.html http://www.jcwhitney.com/jcwhitney/prod ... map=27832G CW
  14. This pretty much describes our Country today. If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn`t buy one. If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed. If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn`t eat meat. If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone. If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his enemy. A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good. If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life. If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect. If a black man or Hispanic are conservative, they see themselves as independently successful. Their liberal counterparts see themselves as victims in need of government protection. If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation. A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him. If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels. Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down. If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church. A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced. (Unless it's a foreign religion, of course!) If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it. A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his. If a conservative slips and falls in a store, he gets up, laughs and is embarrassed. If a liberal slips and falls, he grabs his neck, moans like he's in labor and then sues. If a conservative reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh. A liberal will delete it because he's "offended".

  16. Nice write up!! NOT a fun job!! I've done it a couple times myself... CW
  17. Mine was fugly and I swapped in a GRANY wheel a couple years ago. Its smaller in diameter, but i really like the feel and the look is OK. Kinda modern for the 80's style of the truck. but with the newer seats its OK. I cannot seem to find a good pic.. I'll ahve to snap a new one.. CW
  18. Oh man, that sux!!! Herd of many such accidents, most with minor injuries. Hope its not too painfull..... CW
  19. Good stuff!! Lots to think on for sure... I have been surfing looking for pics and ideas for this project. Today was my first chance to put steel in hand and see what could work on the MJ. I was going to mock up a couple feet based on my drawings. I saw some flaws right off. I fear the issue will be strength. I cannot make it just like I have in my drawings..... I have a guy in my club who has done something very similar thing to his SR5. I know about it, but haven't been able to get good pics or get him to respond to my PM's... :wall: Any how, I came up with something else. Same bar, moved down just a bit. If you envision a profile of the bed side. There is the top, then a 1"-1.125" wide piece followed by a 4" wide piece almost vertical. Then a narrow 1/2" wide strip jutting out followed by the actual side of the bed. First off, I eliminated the angle iron at the bed top. Then scaled down the rail diameter to 1" pipe. Now I've added a wider 3" X 3/16" thick flat stock. Run this centered on the 4" wide part of the bed, full length, front to back wrapping around and ending at the tail gate. Then using 1" tall pieces of round 1" stock as stand offs. Now weld these to that 3/16 X 3" flat stock, in say 5 places down the length of the bed. Birds mouth them to accept the actual bed rail. This will run from just behind the doors at the cab, back to the tail lites finishing with a 90 degree bend around the back. I think I will make a mock up of one side from plastic, just to be sure its what I like. Using the same ideas, I may also have something in store for the front... :brows: :brows: :brows: But I gotta leave something for a surprise... More to comer!1 PLEASE keep the comments and ideas coming!! CW
  20. I agree with Pete, vibes that occur at or near 45mph are almost always tire related. Either balance or internal tire problems... Why 45, you ask? Because that's the threshold where tires need to be balanced to run true. CW
  21. http://www.nittotire.com/#index%2Etire%2Emudgrappler I'm in the market for new tires for my wheeling TJ. I am down to two choices, the radial Baja Claws or the Nitto Mud Grapplers both in 35x12.5x15 size. Neither is a very good street tire, but will work OK for it. mine is a 95% off road only rig with occasional 10mile trips to work. Other than that its just trips to wheeling spots. So loud is a OK trade off for off-road prowess. If this is not you maybe a different AT type tire will be better. CW
  22. I have done this twice now!! Didn't make any cash on the second one, had friends come over and we made a fun time of the chop". Everyone took what they needed and we had it complete in a weekend. I got plenty of good parts!!! We took a sawzall to them for manageable sized pieces and brought the remains to the scrap for about 50 bucks more at the end.. Good times!! CW
  23. Even if you don't care about hunting – Gotta Love Ted!!! Ted Nugent, rock star and avid bow hunter from Michigan, was being interviewed by a French journalist, an animal rights activist The discussion came around to deer hunting. The journalist asked, 'What do you think is the last thought in the head of a deer before you shoot him? Is it, 'Are you my friend?' or is it 'Are you the one who killed my brother? Nugent replied, 'Deer aren't capable of that kind of thinking. All they care about is, what I am going to eat next, who am I going to screw next, and can I run fast enough to get away. They are very much like the French.' The interview ended. http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/nugent.asp
  24. What seats and cage are you using? Harness get old quick when used daily on the street. Also you need to really be careful with the shoulder harnesses, if installed wrong they can easily break or at the very least compress your spine in a accident. Be careful!! CW

    Duck season

I used to go ALL the time.... then my best hunting Buddie, Sport, my 6Yr old lab died of cancer. That was 1991. I still have an attic 25% filled with decoys. Sold the layout boat and blinds. I have gone a couple times since but its still not the same. For us it was a late season thing, then again after deer season. So cold, cold, cold was the norm and being on the shore we hunted the salt marshes and open water with layout boats and occasionally islands for sea ducks. I still remember seeing ice half inch thick on my dogs neoprene wet suit. I slid my hands between the neoprene and his fur.. its felt like it was 100degrees!! He never even hesitated, when I sent him in that water he cleared the first 5-6 feet heading for that bird.... One day its was really cold, I remember windchill of 50-60 below zero and we where out there!! We where on the shore of a rock island about 3-5 acres in size. We collected anything burnable. The smoke was thick and floated right thru the decoys.... It didn't stop the birds!!! IIRC we limited on geese, sea ducks and even got a couple Brant that day. Puddle ducks where not as common out on the open water. MAN I MISS THAT DOG!!! CW
