  1. cwlongshot [password] jeeper Image Not FoundImage Not Found Image Not Found This is on my clubs private land, somewhere in Connecticut. :D :brows: Wanna go? Check out www.jonfund.com and join up!! :brows: Not alot of pics and no video of me as I was driving. enjoy CW
  2. That is a pass code that only allows one to SEE/COPY the pics. You will not have the ability to change/alter or delete anything enclosed. Its not the admin access password. Thanks for the concern, you guys rock!! CW
  3. I WHEELED IT!!! cwlongshot [password] jeeper Image Not FoundImage Not Found Image Not Found Not alot of pics and no video of me as I was driving. enjoy CW
  4. Got my CB antenna wire re run. I had to cut it back when I fixed the frame and only just now fixing it. I was concerned with splicing it back together with a couple couplers and a union. I was afraid the SWR would skyrocket. SO, I ran it between the seats and out the bottom of the cab then up between the bed and cab to the roll bar. Where I e;lectrical taped it to the bar out opf site. I left a nicw drip loop and shrink wrapped the coupler connection. I know it works, but unsure hopw well as the TJ's unit is not so good from inside the garage. I don't know wnyone with a CB close by. the TJ gets some skip while the MJ's is silent. This worries me. I switched the mast to a 102 steel whip with no difference in receiving signals. OH well, it should be fine for a line of site connection and thats about all I need out on the trail... CW
  5. It looks good man. :hijack: OK CW quick question then, running 38's on my XJ and thinking of using MJ spring to stretch the wheelbase a couple inches a good idea then or just run the XJ 4.5" lift leafs and maintain the wheelbase? Stock XJ springs are about 52" while MJ's are closer to 58" we are talking about 3" if the axle bolted up in the center. It doesn't. So the difference is closer to 1.5 or 2". The ride will be better, spring articulation better but to fit it you will likely need to move both spring mounts. Now remember that the XJ mounts its springs outside the "frame". If your going to retain this, its not the easiest fab job but far from impossible. The benefits are worthwhile if you have the time and skills. JMHO CW
  6. Very, very nice!! Its getting better all the time!!! I really like it. If you didn't see in my post, you inspired me.. I was going to make it long, more like yours, but with out the center console I figured it might look funny. Seeing it installed, a couple inches longer wouldn't have hurt. But I still like it!! Thanks for the idea!! CW
  7. Time and experience bears out my opinions. There is no doubt a 120" WB climb better. Just as the 93" WB work best on tight woodland trails. Same as V8's rule the mud and little 4Cyls are fine in the rocks. It's simple the way it is. We can just agree to dissagree. CW
  8. I need to see what way looks best.. I think your right tho.. seems like it should be facing the cab more then the dash... CW
  9. The 4.0L needs to run at or near 200 degrees for things to work correctly. A thermostat in one should NEVER be less than a 180. CW
  10. Darren gave me the idea.. BEFORE: AFTER: CW
  11. Well, the Brackets on the D30 are quite thin. Now add rocks and articulation to the equation and you end up with bent, twisted and ripped off brackets. The MJ has been fine, but the TJ hasn't been so lucky I have replaced most of it with HD stuff and rewelded that once. SO< this is preventative. It's HD and should serve to stiffen up the mount as well as protect the front of the LCA from rock damage. Tonight was HELL... The flipping T-Case linkage gave me absolute fits!!! While removing the origional it "popped" out form where I inteded it to slid out. At the adjustments... Three hours later, lots of cursing and frustration. I was FINEALY able to get the bushing back in and the rod slipped right in perfectly. I had to slit the carpet a bit, but its not noticeable. The shifter looks good and works perfectly. I did find out that the XJ unit is different form the MJ unit. But a small BFH fixed that quick. BEFORE: AFTER: Here is the differences: CW
  12. I miss TSC. :shake: I'll have to see if I can find those somewhere around here. Our local farm supply chain, Del's, is owned by TSC but doesn't have anywhere near the selection of cool stuff. Willy I have known about TSC for some time, but never went, until last month. Now I have been three times since!! Your correct GREAT, GREATY stuff there!!! :D :brows: I just bolted my shovel in as its not used allot but really hand when needed. I would have liked a quicker dismount. I always have a hatchet, but would like a axe but no good way to store it. (Chain saw better yet but not practical for all the time carry when wheeling.) Gotta look at these clamps. CW
  13. YUP, Thats exactly what I was looking at when I posted that. Sorry man, didn't realize you have clearance!! Its some really nice work. CW
  14. May people (self included) feel the perfect wheelbase for wheeling a jeep lies in the 106-108" range. It offers the best of the short 93-96" with out loosing the climbing abilities of the 113-119" long... NICE JOB!! CW Unless you only wheel a single obstacle that never changes there is no such thing as a perfect wheelbase. It is all personal preference. Willy Is that so.. do yourself a favor and check out competition vehicles. Like those used in Neurock. You will find a continuity of wheelbases in the 106-110" range. The size of the wheel that's best under the vehicle is directly effected by wheel base. Too much and the "ratio" is thrown off. Too little and its not stable. 35-37 works best at the 93" on the wranglers while 37-40" is better on the XJ and 42-44" is for the 120" .. Now this is not looks. Just think of the driveability of a 44" tired MJ. Look good yes maybe, but imagine the axles and work required to make this work reliably offroad? ALL this effected directly by wheel base... It's far more than an arbitrary number.. Sorry man, but I gotta figure these competition guys know more about what works best than you or I.... CW
  15. I welded in my LCA skids and built a new T-case shifter!! Reading Darrens (Goblazers_6) post with the distributor gear shifter got me thinking on altering one of mine!! I took an old linkage set up I had and chopped off the hocky stick handle. Ground the end flat at an angle that allows it to be flat and parralell to interior floor. Then I welded on an appropraite sized bolt and ground the welds to look purdy. Then I threaded on the knob... Here is the LCA skids. I cleaned up the contact points with a flap disc and clamped on the skids. Then I burned them in... And finally shot them with blk hammered paint. CW
  16. Mine is there too.. you would have to invert the spring to crush mine... CW

  18. Look at the belly on that thing... Sorry man, couldn't resist!!   First thing I see is the track bar is too short for the drag link. Its important the angles AND OAL length be similar. Strange things happen with dissimilar lengths. Take it for a drive thru some dumps and dips... CW

  20. GREAT thinking on the drilling those parallel holes!!! CW
  21. Nice work!! Now to re-route the exhaust!!! CW
  22. Installed my freshly painted diff cover. Then removed and repainted my D30 rock ring... Then carefully repainted my steering linkage. CW
  23. That was a day from HELL!!! Sorry man!! CW
