Mrsimon's First Mj Project (Tube Bed Page 7)
WahooSteeler replied to MrSimon's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Well, you're gonna have to wait a bit ;) I want to do my body work and paint BEFORE installing the bumpers and sliders. And before I do that, I want to finish up the front suspension, do the SOA, install the Aussie, mount my skid plates ...... sheesh, the list is never ending. BUT, NACFEST (NAXJA wheeling trip) is in early June, so everything needs to be done by then. Paint it AFTER your trip. :brows: -
Thinking about a dog (puppy)...maybe, suggestions?
WahooSteeler replied to SuperWade2's topic in The Pub
Maybe it's because you're a Cocker too.........and I ain't talkin Spaniel LOL! :rotfl2: -
At first I thought, ok cool, it's different. And I thought, well maybe it doesn't look so "lavender" in person. But I have to agree it looks way better before for my tastes. If I am correct that your goal was to match up to the seats you got, why not just have the seats recovered to match the original dash. Considering you committed grand larceny on what you paid for those seats  , you could have them recovered and still be in to them for cheap! :brows: I agree with $500 though, for all the effort you've put in to this killer project, it truly deserves to be whatever YOU want it to be.

Ric, that's all very encouraging. Very happy to hear her great progress!

That is friggin hilarious. And if we all had a dollar for each time we've heard those exact words, and chipped in to a common fund, we could have a big MJ party somewhere, all paid for!! -

Dingo-Dog. "A dingo took my baby!" -
Move to Montana then. During daylight hours there are stretches of highway where there speed limit is "reasonable and prudent". Seriously. :D

What is the most sought after comanche? Easy, one that is repairable.............if needed.

track bar and sway bar
WahooSteeler replied to blusteve's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Can't answer for you on the track bar, but on the sway bar you can get a ZJ V8 sway bar and upgrade for better handling, especially since it's your DD. Do a search for ZJ V8 sway bar, lots of info and recent threads on this. **Edit, I just remembered there was a writeup in DIY from goblazers.... viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11980  -
I'm not lost at all. Just had a little too much to drink, passed out on a tan couch that wasn't ours. Got thrown in a shipping container, and spent the better part of winter trying to get out of the rural mountains of Mongolia with no money, flip flops on ma feet, and an extremely small understanding of japanese. Oh you're lost alright, lost outta your mind!! What's up cheeko-foo-hawhentays!! So that's how you come back? Just outta knowhere in the middle of a thread? Sounds like a set-up to me LOL! :fool:

My 88 has power windows and locks........ :brows: -
Yeah, and make sure you spray it down with some Magnesium Chloride like most of the northeastern states do. Since Wade doesn't experience snow and ice, he won't get the effect of the MagChl acting as a preventative de-icer but at least he'll get the other characteristic of the stuff............rust ACCELERATOR! Ask me how I know.......... :brows: I lived in Nebraska for 25 years... I know about snow and ice.... I was just smart enough to leave... I keep forgetting you're still more Nebraskan than Californian! :brows:

Need confirmation on e-brake cable
WahooSteeler replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Jeff, now that you mention it, I seem to remember that bracket on the floorpan when I had the '87 that I sold to brigarpeon all stripped out. Thanks for the info! -
Need confirmation on e-brake cable
WahooSteeler replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well I'm having my cousin's step-dad who has a repair shop do the e-cables for me because it needs a starter and state inspection. The truck has been sitting for a couple of months because I could never catch a Saturday with warm enough weather and where I didn't have a bunch of other stuff to do. And now, the family schedule just got ratcheted up a couple more notches with my baseball and soccer having just started. Soooooo, I'm just gonna have him do it for me while it's in for inspection, he'll give me a good deal on the labor and I already had the parts. The reason I asked about the main cable though is because I am going to do that myself later, no need to pay him to be pulling out a seat and trim and carpet and such. Plus, I plan to take it to the body shop sometime in the next 90 days and get my passenger floorpan replaced. I'll tear down the interior myself and just have the shop do the cutting and welding, so when I get it back I plan to put the main cable in and also do some preventive maintenance with the POR-15. Fortunately my main cable is in good shape which is why I'm not worried about my guy doing it. But the part was only $15 so with new legs going to the wheels I may as well have a new cable all the way back when I can put that in. -

Thanks! -
I picked up new e-brake cables, the whole set, and just wanted to confirm that the lead cable as I saw it goes through the back and inside of the cab and under the floor up to the pedal assembly? I guess it's not a huge deal but I realized I probably have to take out the seat and some trim to get to it under the carpet, correct??

Thinking about a dog (puppy)...maybe, suggestions?
WahooSteeler replied to SuperWade2's topic in The Pub
I, too, have been around dogs all my life. My dad used to bird hunt a lot so we had English Setters. The best house/family dog I've ever been around were Springer Spaniels. Somebody mentioned they were high energy. From my experience the males were very high energy but the females were always low key. Very low key actually. We had 4 of the females at our house over the years, all extremely loyal and loving. Right now my parents have a Jack Russell that does nothing but bark and lick, and golden retriever/chow mix that is the prettiest dog I've ever seen. We have a black lab/sharpei we got the kids 2yrs ago at the SPCA, other than being a little "spirited" so far, he's starting to settle down (IIRC Labs don't "mature" until after 2+ years). We did what brdhntr suggested and took different puppies in to a back room at the SPCA and just sat with different ones for a little while each, and like he said, Jake just kinda picked us out. He seemed the most comfortable around US, so the little fella walked out the door with us a little while afte that. Good luck! -

Uhh, the only thing not original on that one is the wheels. You both have new paint, you both have a lift, but yours has an altered look from a later model nose. His just has different wheels, Jeep wheels at that, not even "aftermarket" wheels, which IMO would not keep any vehicle from being original. I don't quite see how yours is more original?? :hmm: -

Well, the movie credits didn't give a description of the said sammich, but I'll take a logical guess. Being that they were in the south, I'm pretty confident that it either had pork or chicken in it, and I'm almost certain that it was slathered in a southern style HOT barbeque sauce. Mmmmmmmmmm, barbeque! -

That I did, but only after talking about the truck itself and after someone else broke my thread rules. And it is MY thread LOL. :brows: Seriously though, I really don't care and I knew it was inevitable that people would talk about the price, I just didn't want to have it dominate the thread, that's been done a million times. I just wanted to share what "I" thought was a killer example of how cool these trucks can look, be it a clean street version like this one or a built up trail rig. Just giving you a hard time. -

Did you see the thread title?? We ALL know it won't sell for that price or even close to it, hence why I said "ignore the price" and "let's don't talk about price". It's just a super nice MJ to look at. :shake: -

MFP, I have the open headrests on my truck, and I've seen a fair amount of them. I'm surprised you haven't seen them on an MJ before, I've even seen 'em on here. Yes, I did not want to talk numbers but your guesstimate is about the same as mine, $8k.
