Pretty wild. Here is a pic of what I intend to do when I paint it. Also, I've got @2"+ of lift on it now, sold the Canyons/30" B-stones for some Ravines w/31" BFGs. Otherwise the same. -

You stole my truck!! On your white one, looks like the PO put in XJ leather seats and a center console in addition to moving the gear shift to the floor. -

225's are not anywhere near the same as 30s. 235s come close, but still more than 3% off wh...... http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalcul ... ion=submit -

30s will fit w/no lift. I can't remember if you said you were going to lift it. Might rub the LCAs on full lock a little, but otherwise no problem if you have the proper offset. Assuming you keep the same Jeep wheels, should be fine. -

That electronic rust inhibitor thing does work. Well, I don't know if THAT brand/model works, but there are units out there that work. It won't prevent rust, but has been shown to dramatically slow down the process. IIRC it basically sends a low voltage negative ion charge throughout the frame and metal parts and slows down the chemical reaction. -
and/or XJ Sport wheels?

Cool! Don't give up on teamcherokee though, sometimes they get some NOS that can't be found anywhere else, and they have a lot of other stuff if you looked around on there, and a lot of it at a decent price IMO.

Nice catch! I have those in sweet maroon tweed! I like the look of the headrests, although I'm not sure if I'd call them "headrests" because there is no "head resting" offered by those things. I've only been on a few trips in mine over 30mins, and the one time I tried to relax for a minute, it wasn't happening. But 95% of my use is short, local runs so it's all good. And they still look sweet IMO.

Gladiator grill/hood on an MJ?
WahooSteeler replied to Philistine's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
that first grill, if you cut down between the lights and grill on each side, it looks like it would fit. it would produce a very pronounced snout i think, more so than the first Dodge Rams and not sure it would look very good. -
Brake Lines...need suggestions
WahooSteeler replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Don, do you still have your load sensing valve? I know you've hauled your share of heavy loads too, do you notice a difference in braking? If I do get rid of it, I'll wrap it up in that tailgate mat I still need to send you. Wildman, ironically when I drive it last weekend before this happened, it locked up a couple of times when I first needed to brake, but stopped doing it after that. Although, I did brake with a lighter foot. That was one of the first times it had ever locked up. -
This past weekend I finally got around to spending a little time with the MJ. I was installing my Edelbrock shocks on the rear when I got bit in the arse by the Jeep maintenance monster. I was installing the left rear shock and tapping the top mount on to the stud with a rubber mallet when I noticed a drip. Damn brake line(s) were leaking at the T-connector going to the height prop rod and regular line. This was not a discovery, this was new. I must have hit one of the lines with my arm or something as I was swinging at the shock mount. I haven't made a real close inspection of it all as I finished up on the shocks and then it was dark. There is no break in the line and it is hard to tell if they are rusted because there is a lot of road grit on them. I'll need to get back under there and clean them off to get a better look at it all. That being said, assuming the worst and that I have to replace some hard lines, I did some searches on brake topics. Of course the other part of the equation is whether or not to keep the height valve. Currently it is not hooked up but since I use the truck a lot for hauling heavy loads, I thought it would be a good idea to hook back up at some point. So I'm looking for input as to repairs and/or replacement of the line(s) and input on the height valve. I know most people say junk it. Also to note, I'm 90% sure I'll be taking this work to my mechanic since I don't want to mess with brakes and such. It's probably a little beyond my skill set as it is, and I definitely don't have the tools if I need to install and flare new hard lines etc. :dunno: On a positive note, a quick drive around the block (I still have front brakes) and the ride with the new Edelbrocks (I aimed for every bump in the road) was fantastic.

Your eyes deceive you. It is commonly assumed that Eagle's sense of humor was surgically removed by his second wife. The truth is, that's a scurrilous lie. I was born during WW2 and there was a severe shortage of senses of humor at Bryan Army Air Station. I wasn't issued one at birth, and my parents moved me off post before supplies became available. :rotfl2:

Gladiator grill/hood on an MJ?
WahooSteeler replied to Philistine's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Isn't that a grill from like a Comet or something? That grill came off a car IMO, I just can't remember year, make or model? -
Whaddaya mean? He says it's an '86. That was the first year for the MJ. This truck is OBVIOUSLY the long-lost factory prototype. It's a one-of-a-kind. Probably worth at least $75,000 in unrestored condition. It's a bargain. Someone should absolutely snap it up. Do my eyes deceive me, is that a tidbit of humor from the Eagle man? :dunno: :D
