when I took my junk to attica in feb I got about that same mileage with 3.07's and 31's. Now that I'm at 3.73s it actually got better. I'm pulling down about 24 highway now. I did 700 Miles to NC on two tanks, with two ford 8.8's in the rear, a bunch of my brothers tools and all out camping gear for a week. probably about 5-600 lbs of junk in the back, doing 75 up and down the mountains in WV.

I think it really depends on your situtaion now. If you're happy doing what you do that can make up for not making as much. No one likes getting up in the morning and hating going to work.

I'll second that. must be too old to get it. I'm 20 :roll: 24 here. I dislike the "social networking" sites. For crying out loud people, does everyone have to know what you're doing/where you're at every second. I ditched my cell phone a year ago. It's bliss :)

or just go and get an HO thermostat housing from the junkyard and put the temp switch in it :)

thermostat is supposed to open at 195. normal op temp is between 205-215 while wheeling mine usually sits at 220 when wheeling in high eat.

the way the XJ radiator is designed makes it prone to clogging up. The real long cross flow just makes the bottom of the radiator th perfect place for sediment and scale to drop.

nice work on the floors. Is that a facotry LWB rollbar? you do know that you should never throw that out correct? We'll lynch you for that :D

if the closed system is so bad then why is it becoming prevalent again? I think that what most people blame on the cooling system design is likely because we're all dealing with 15+ year old trucks. Mine works just fine, it just takes a little more maintenance, and I've still got a rad and hoses from 1987.

I loaded two of them by myself into the MJ for a trip to NC. Anyway, the ones I've been getting have the rotors on them, so the e-brake stuff is all there, but most of the rotors are trashed because they have sat outside for a while in a big pile.

not difficult. find a donor XJ and take it's steering column and floor shifter/console. It's all bolt in.

you're likely to break most of the nylon vacuum lines pulling them. Get a roll of rubber hose at advance for about $20.

I don't believe that the inlet/outlet bungs changed. I think your existing hoses will work. You'll need the HO heater valve though, and might need to buy some heater core hose to redo that part when you eliminate the turtle.

line locks are solenoids that trap the brake fluid in the cylinder under pressure. So you ould put two line locks on the hards lines going to each wheel cylinder, and you;d have two switches in the cab. no, I'm admitting to repairing a problem with the proper parts, and doing what Jeep should have done in the first place, used rubber vacuum lines.

I'm not following you here. You're comparing going to the parts store and buying enough rubber hose to redo the vacuum system in it's entirety to dealership proces for the vacuum harness? using a drinking straw to fix a vacuum leak is just swell, and when the crack lengthes in the 20 year old nylon line I'll curse you for my high idle and crap gas mileage from the vac leak.

take some good looks at the JCR one ton steering page. www.jcroffroad.com that's basically what has been described, and there's lots of pictures to look at and copy. If you come up with $300 you can just buy it.

4 door xj doors bolt right up. THe mirror thing was an option. So you could have gotten big truck mirrors or XJ mirrors in the same year. My 87 has smaller mirrors.
