Headlight delay module
ScottJeep replied to ftpiercecracker1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Most of the more high level "auto recycled" XJ have this. IF you get there in time around here. Mine came from an 87' Wagoneer Limited. Along with ALOT of other stuff. My quick research found that delay to be PRICEY if you wanna just go out and purchase it. -
Also the rubber boots the bolts ride in should be replaced...WITH the nylon sleeves inside the rubber boots..and the metal anti-rattle clips. All of these parts are available via ROCKAUTO.COM ( I know because I just bought it all during their latest close-out sale ) and other normal local retailers.... the best I found locally was AutoZone ( NOT my preferred vendor but ...when it's all tore apart and they have it.... well you know.)

Google is always YOUR friend found this http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/removing-window-trim-89-a-50725/ Used this... http://cdn.xjjeeps.com/pdf/en-us/1988-to-1990-parts-catalog.pdf Came up with J4006211 which also crosses to 55134797 ; J4005540 http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/products/JEEP/1993/CHEROKEE-21L-TURBO-DIESEL--5-Speed-Manual/CLIP--CLIP--Windshield-Moulding-Attaching-Production-Type-Part--Production-Type-Part--1991-92--ProductionService-Part--ProductionService-Part--1993/4609313/55134797.html So now go forth and find/purchase. Sorry I have a whole bag someplace but keeping them ( where ever they are ) with the complete front metal trim spare I have.

Who has over 200,000 on a daily driver?
ScottJeep replied to 88AMComanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
All in my past..few years. Sold the last MJ with ~270K Just Sold the XJ with 258K ( head work but original rings, bearings, timing components and cam ) Trade my F150 with 296K for a 90 Wrangler ( and never cracked it open for other than water pump and oil pan gasket ) -
Like the local availability.... but jeeesh.... that is expensive. Lately I've learned to be less about "I gotta have it RIGHT now" so I save some ca$h. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017UBHQS/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1944687682&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B001C09B48&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1GPTCPZBX1V10FZB7E4C Me Like 100 for less than $5.00! Plenty of other options. I'm a Amazon Prime member so I don't sweat shipping and well... I always have a couple of things in my wish list so it always helps as well...even if it a case of paper towels or toilet paper! Amazon was the cheapest for a complete thermostat parts list I needed recently for another car I was repairing for a family member. And it was all factory/manufacturer parts. But again. Good to know there are local options other than the normal auto parts stores who sometimes really try to make a fortune on stuff like this they know you MUST have.

As I remember... it just slides onto the feed tube. No clamp or anything. I'm calling this one SNUG.

WOW...that is long list of issues... you still might be on the high side. Have learned to appreciate the rust free vehicles I've found in my backyard. My current driver/project was drug back on a tow dolly not running, 90% complete, ZERO rust ....$600

My recent problem similar to this ended up being the cheap $6 temp sending unit I installed. Located on the back of the head near the firewall on my 89' with the 4.0L Good Luck.

Yeah, not really trying to start a theme with my posts.... but have noticed as the weather has started to change many of us are dealing with Heat-A/C issues and many appear to be vacuum canister related. In the rebuilding of my latest MJ, the vacuum canister was one of the missing items. My solution thus fare was grab a small Vacuum Ball from the Jeep parts bin/cabinet in the garage which is the size of....a large grapefuit. But normally I think the MJs and XJs had a somewhat larger canister behind the bumper on the passenger side. I've also wonder about the newer canisters.... Since mine was MIA. I've also relocated the ball up into the engine compartment just to make it easier regarding routing vacuum hoses etc. Does the SIZE on these things matter or make a difference and is there really a WRONG way to connect to the things? Thanks in advance.

Oil Filter Adapter Seal Kit
ScottJeep replied to 88mjblue's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
^^^ This ^^^... used just last weekend... Messed up RockAuto "SALE" item was the craptastic Dorman HELP kit. That thing does NOT have ONE o-ring in the kit that can be used. NEVER EVER PURCHASE for Jeep 4.0. NAPA should/might have them all. My experience was: They didn't have the biggest o-ring - 230 but did have the FelPro one. They DID have the 219. They did NOT have the 117. They had a 115 that I used and fit just snuggily. I took all my stuff up to the store with me so I could compare and test fit right then and there. I HATE running back and forth with a passion! My new thing...order an extra of anything under $20.00. My time is worth more than $20.00 and either I or someone I know will need it when least expected. I also commonly hord any removed part that might work in a pinch when I part is suddenly not available, didn't arrive for replacement or something worse. -
replacing outer window seal
ScottJeep replied to thejum57's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Man that number doesn't work for me.... I like places with more pictures... http://www.jeep4x4center.com/jeep-door-parts/cherokee-xj-weatherstrips.htm http://teamcherokee.com/complete-window-wipe-seal-set-jeep-comanche-mj-1986-1992/ And I'm not promoting either vendor. Actually, I am super cheap (three kids in college). I just spent my lunch hour at the JY obtaining a complete passenger side set (all four pieces) inner, outer, vertical and upside down L weatherstrips AND a good one piece water shield and I paid $8 for all of it! Love it when I get the new girl being trained! -
replacing outer window seal
ScottJeep replied to thejum57's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Maybe you ordered/were sent outers from a new model that don't have the vent window? Pictures could only help us help you. I've done this several times but usually with the same year model. -
Here's something you don't see every day.
ScottJeep replied to JACKED88's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
What the .....check out the bumper on the back of the red Eliminator? WOW... I am pricing my refurbished tail-light sets way to cheap. My last set was purchased and now re-listed at almost a 300% markup. -
1991 Jeep Comanche Bloomfield, CT $3000

Pretty sure as well that is a truck from Atlanta, not too long ago. Swapped a couple of emails with seller here. -
Comanche Trailer - CA
ScottJeep replied to johnny quest's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Almost worth the asking price in parts. Tail-lights -- Check Bumper ---- Check Tailgate --- Check Brake Prop Valve ---- Check Gas Tank Sending Unit ---- Check Rear Flares ----- Check Looks like the spare winch is gone... Have sold all those parts before. -

Great looking MJ! Really like the color! Super clean look. -
Had those separators on my 97' XJ.

Thanks Eagle.... it was a close-out on RockAuto... they have accepted the requested return. Kickinmule...it's easier to take when you just admit you messed up. Hopefully others will read and learn from my mistake. It's actually amazing to me if the 2.5" stuff is that rare that it is usually listed FIRST when you pull up parts for these trucks. Now to go stock the parts cabinet with all the other stuff I bought.
-
OK... so yeah I know what you were thinking...but it's a drum brake question. Were the D35 rears ever equipped with the 2.5" drum brakes. Yes, I thought well if they aren't I'll just swap over the other parts ( got a great deal on shoes).... well now that I've looked further it APPEARS I'm being schooled again and the 2.5 shoes are only on the D44 rears. Confirm, Deny or just point and laugh...

I would actually considering killing for what HE ^^^^^^ has on the front of his MJ.
-
Well they got here quick they fit perfect..... still have to remeasure the backs....to make sure there is enough stud/thread ratio The old ones actually had a portion at the top with no threads...really think I'll find that all is fine. and really happy with the turbines....and how they look...
-
Bobolink thank you! As a Amazon Prime member that could make it easy. Wish I knew somebody that could order this stuff before me buying. I swear this looks like it might mount up just fine. This is the Draw-Tite 75020. Might have to try the Customer Service at my local U-Haul. Been getting to know them moving people and renting vans lately. Bobolink... Also glad I saw your mount for another reason...looks like I'm going with the Fey bumper ( for the second time ) and I have a template I made for the mounting brackets Having a local shop make them up. Just didn't take enough pictures of my last install!

strokermjcomanche... I live North of Atlanta...Gwinnett County. Sorry I didn't response sooner...yesterday was a 400 mile "junk yard adventure" for MJ/early XJ parts. It's how I fund this thing. Appreciate all the follow up posts. The "lastest project" has been the normal fun of one thing after another. The Summit lugs should be here next day or so. Waiting on them and the new coil spring isolators to put on the 2" front lift springs and the new tires on the turbines. I'll post up pictures of the Summit lugs. They were the best buy that I found and could get quickly at the time.

Bobolink.... any chance you have a pic(s)?
