  1. I only picked it up cause it had flat top knuckles.. and was complete  I have an upcoming project that involves a HPd44 with drum brakes Just cause the pumpkin is on the wrong side don't mean It won't work either :brows:
  2. I seen that the name changed too, but I went to their site to find a d44 truss for an upcoming project
  3. Center caps making nice crunching sounds whenthey get hit with rocks :brows: also make good places to hold cliper and hub bolts as you replace a broken axle shaft
  4. What you want a pic of a chevy axle? They all look the same :brows:
  5. I changed my prop valve over to a XJ one.. and I remember there being a metric fitting on the rear line for some reason at the prop valve. I might be wrong on this.
  6. I was going to go to 37's but I only have a set of 35's laying around.... trying not to spend any money on this build.. except where I have too (roll cage tubing)
  7. Well today was a sad day in my life. My dd car died  and I decided to take it to the junk yard cause I needed a few things. Well I get down there and to my suprise.. the yard now pays for junk vehicles  I was like awesome. I told the owner.. let me see what you got out back and we will work on the car price. Well right where he told me to pu the car.. was a mid 80's blazer :D I knew it had what I needed, but I wanted to see if I could find one all ready pulled. Sure enough.. there was one towards the front of the yard :D Well we ended up trading my junk car for a d44 front.. complete from lock out to lock out, including a non bent steering set up. Soo now I can procede to put full width axle on the Turd. Can you say d44 and 9" on 35's
  8. What are you going to do with the rest of the body.... 2 dr xj rock
  9. You are going to have to grind them or use a cutoff wheel, plama torch, or oxy fuel burning (not recommended do to post clean up and heat distortion). Try using the outer part of the grinding wheel. The grinding wheels tend to cut more like that. Also grinding with the bottom part (underside) tends to cause you grinding wheels to come apart when they get weell used :brows:
  10. Depending on how high it goes.. you can hold it til you get money to build it right. I don't know how you plan on using your rig, but if you are just a mall crawler.. the d35 wil hold up to 31's.... heck I have had them hold up to 33's and beat on them. Currently I have a XJ d44 in my garage waiting on 4.88's and a mini spool  and I am only going to run 33's :brows:
  11. When I was stationed in Panama, we had the Humvee's down there, and I am here to tell you.. we beat the snot out of them in the mud down there.. the worst we ever had happen was a busted CV shaft... That was with mud over the tirestrying to cross a 3' deep creek with straight banks.
  12. Rok Hound I love his design, but Personally I think it is HACK to do all that nice fab work, and then skimp on putting a fuel cell just so you can re-use your stock tank.
  13. Problem with linking the rear, is the gas tank and where that is located at. Unless You relocate the tank to the bed (read expensive), I don't think it could be done with out compromising some of the suspension movement
  14. Chevy drop shackle and spacers.. be more like 2" of lift though
  15. That pic John Posted up seems like thay chopped the front part of the bed. When I was deciding to make Pong a truggy we thought of just bobbing the bed (way to dented and mangled to make sense though). What we came up with though.. was you would either have to change the front leaf spring mount, or go with different length springs. The reason I say this is the rear leaf spring mount isnt very far away from the rear of the frame. I think waggy leafs or Yj leafs would work right, but they are flatter in arch (less lift) the a SOA MJ leaf. There is also the option of xj leafs.. they are roughly 5" shorter. If I was going to bob the bed I would also dovetail it while I was at it though :D
  16. who said anything about minis? confused here  He was talking about Mini trucks that have hardtop convertibles. I had one of these kits on a lowrider s-10 I had back in the 90's. It was nice for the first couple of yrs, but as time went on the top started to leak, also the windshield frame started flexing which kept causing it to break windshields. All In all it was a fun truck to ride around in
  17. Or you could build a helluva cage and wheel the piss out of it.
  18. The reason you use the xj tank is it is kinda square in shape. where as the mj tank is more of a rectangle. Personally I would try and keep the tank in the stock location if not replacing it with a fuel cell. Mostly cause you still have to relocate the filler neck. As for what is needed o swap a cell in.. is about 500 bucks... thats the cell and all the associated fittings plus a inline fuel pump.
  19. currently on ebay there are 2 d44's ranging from 350 -500. so there is your starting point. A running vehicle is worth 500 bucks if the tires are round and hold air. I would buy it if it is something I could use for its intended purpose. As for converting a 2wd to 4wd. Not a lot of work if you have a complete parts rig, but you have to ask yourself "can I find a 4x4 MJ in my area for less then it would cost to convert this one?" I found a nice one in my area for less then what you are willing to pay for the 2wd one.
  20. I personally love classified adds that say runs great but needs carb work, or is missing (pick a vital engine part).
  21. about what you offered.. if not less
  22. Now al you have to do is put some 13" Dayton's on it with a 1000000 watt stereo, and some super candy pearl paint... and you will be the bomb. I forgot to add you need a tv in each door, and both sides of the dash, and in the tailgate :brows:
  23. Well I just lost 10 minutes of my life reading that  You must have been on JU to long and figured all that out :brows:
  24. To me the bed would be worth 100 bucks if it wasnt for the 6 hr drive. The bubbling surface rust is something ppl don't always pay attention to. If properly treated... it might not be as bad as your search on goolge said, but it could be worse. Keep in mind they have not made these rigs in 15+ yrs so finding a rust free one is going to get harder and harder. :brows: I live in a farming area... you can find MJ's and IH rigs every where.. but most if not all have been abused, and need rust repair
