If you are referring to the "difference" between 3.54 and 3.55, or 4.10 and 4.11, that's not considered a different ratio. That's just the end result of differentials with different size ring gears.
Dunno what you mean by the reference to two-wheel drives. Obviously, they don't have a front differential.
He's being a smart @$$, by saying the front axle and rear axle on a 2wd have different gearing.
The 3.54 and 3.55ness is pretty much negligible on our vehicles. The D35, D30, 8.25, and even 8.8, from what I've found, have identical tooth counts for each ratio. I believe the D44 shares most of them, with 4.09 being the exception.
