Being as you're 540 miles from me, weather conditions may vary.

yesterday I swapped beds on the 89 and my 2.5 91. Today I get to haul said 89 like 35 miles with my 2wd 4.0 and not-very-tready tires in this pouring rain.

You blew up the slave? I would NOT spend money on another internal slave. For about the same price, you should be able to get everything you need for an external conversion.

I can't. Even with the brightness turned all the way up and the contrast adjusted as best I can, it's still to *(ing dark unless I'm looking at it at the perfect angle. Maybe it's just that my eyes are freakin horrible. My glasses prescription is so bad that I'm not eligible for lasik. I've never paid for a TV, and I've got 5 of em. People just throw their old perfectly working ones at me whenever they have to upgrade I guess.

Quick bed removal problem.

Got them swapped. Parts truck is being held on with just the first two, and the DD is... the front two and one of the rear ones. I'm gonna have to figure out something to get the snapped ones out, and the rear left hole didn't line up, so I couldn't get the stud back in there. Thought I was done earlier than I was, but went to plug in the tailight harness, and I realized they changed that between 89 and 91. -
Which motor? If you have the 4.0, then your trans is a peugoet BA 10/5. 1 - 3.39 2 - 2.33 3 - 1.44 4 - 1 5 - 0.79 R - 3.25 If you have the 2.5, then you'll have an Aisin AX-5 1 - 3.93 2 - 2.33 3 - 1.45 4 - 1 5 - 0.85 R - 4.74 If you have the 4.0 your crawl ratio is 42.04:1 If you have the 2.5 your crawl ratio is 48.75:1

I take it you mean you're going SOA? How much lift are you wanting? I don't know how you weld the new perches on, but regardless of what axle you use you'll have to do it. An XJ axle will not be a direct bolt on. The distance between the perches for an XJ and MJ are different. What axle do you have? If you are doing SOA, I would recommend finding a stronger axle if you've got a Dana 35.

Quick bed removal problem.

Got the first one off. Started gettin a little lightheaded so I'm taking a lunch break. There were only 8 bolts. Biggest problem was I missed the two bolts for the spare tire bracket. I'd taken the two that went into the bed out(they snapped without a second thought) and thought I could wiggle the shaft out. Once I found the two that went into the frame the bed came right off. -
Air in the line would make it spongy, not stiff. I would definitly check the line for kinks, otherwise think over if you cut the strap on the slave like Red 1989 MJ mentioned. Does the clutch still function? Or does it not disengage at all?

Isn't showing us a screenshot of your fancy resolution kinda like those stupid Bose commercials? If we don't have the system they're advertising, we can't hear how good it allegedly is!! Looks like a neat monitor though. I've never been big on resolution, I'm fine with my 15in old @$$ laptop screen, and my TV is a 27" CRT, and I don't plan on upgrading. My GF has an HD TV. Honestly, I see better on the CRT.

Yeah I didn't see any plug... one of the POs must've spliced something together at some point. I'll take a closer look above the wheel, but all the holes up there looked too small to get a socket through. Is there anything else I'm missing that I'd end up breaking when I pull this off? -

I got the 8 bolts out.... I don't see any more. I looked where you have marked, but I don't see the centermost bolts, the ones right above the wheels. I also can't find a plug for the tailight harness. Is it right above the tank? Tank's all disconnected but I haven't dropped it down yet. The 4 actual bolts I took out snapped, and the studs came out fine. -
Yes, I searched, but 'bed' is too common and it won't search for it. But 'bolts' isn't  Anyone have a diagram of where the 8 bed bolts are on a swb? I'm not gonna have a lot of light and would like to know where to start. Also, I saw in another post that the spare tire and bumper have to come off. Really?

You don't have to crawl underneath. You should be able to get a wrench on it from up top. -
a CLUTCH pressure PROBLEM
Geonovast replied to Redramman's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It doesn't absolutely have to have it, but I'm sure you could make one with it in there. In 91 they went to a solid one piece plastic line anyway. When I swapped the 86 external setup into my 91, I used an 88 master and line with the rubber part. -
How much does a swb bed weigh?
Geonovast replied to Geonovast's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
M'kay, I have no idea what the rope is rated for, just something I had lying around. It's really long though, so I could run a few lengths to each hook inside the bed. Unfortunatly I may have to do this alone so the picker was my best bet. -

You can get some brake line and bend yourself a new line. This is just another example of why internal slave cylinders were one of the worst ideas anyone's had, ever. -
I'm hoping my unborn daughter will be helpin me wrench by the time she's 7... so, you know, she'll have ya beat in like 7 years.

I'm working on swapping beds around tomorrow and friday and I was just wondering about how much an empty short bed will weigh. I'm doing it pretty much by myself and while I know my picker will be fine, I need to know if I should get chains or if nylon rope should be enough.

I see two every day, and the third one is in the neighbor's garage...

I believe the column shift should hook up to the 93 trans, however I would swap the XJ steering column in and use the floor shifter. The 93 gauge cluster will not have the shift indicator, you can't just throw it in without modification. When you swap it, just put it in like it's in the XJ. The hole for the shifter will be there, just plated off.
