    hey guys

I drove right past you on 44 on my way home yesterday.
  2. I could've wiped it for you too.
  3. IIRC the flywheel can only go on one way. There's 3 marks on the flywheel that cause the CPS to signal... I suppose, if you somehow got the fly on wrong, it could be 60 degrees off. But, again, you'd still get spark from the coil, just at the wrong time.
  4. You might as well replace the water pump while you have the head off. It'll save you coolant, and having to tear into the motor again. Water pumps are fairly cheap, so I would just tackle it right away. I suggest, too, getting a new one, and not a re-man. I've heard too many stories of the re-man's failing fairly quickly.
  5. You can blow the head gasket out from a coolant valley without touching any of the oil. If you can visibly see it leaking from the head gasket, then you've got a head gasket problem.

    hey guys

    I'm kinda in Missouri.
  7. Dunno how long this time... a few weeks. We are moving down there, just slowly.
  8. Just got home, nothing exploded on me.
  9. I saw the first 10 minutes and thought it was the most ridiculously horrible thing I'd ever seen since Napoleon Dynamite. Oh, and Jack Black.. :ack:
  10. That's EXACTLY how my XJ was acting before I came down to MO, and look what happened to that.
  11. There's no scheme difference per se, they're still both disc brakes and look the same, but there's several generations of brakes all with minor differences, and you can't swap back and forth, it'll cause problems. I know the exact years, it's been posted before but I don't remember what they are.
  12. As do I, but shipping would be a pain.
  13. Well the trip so far is going decent, it's still leaking pretty bad so it rains oil wherever I stop and still smokes pretty good, but I don't think it's leaking nearly as bad as it was on the way down. Left the GF and the baby in MO. I'm gonna get home, fix this thing(should be getting ahold of a good running Renix 4.0 to just dump in) Run around for a little bit to get comfortable with the new motor, then load up a bunch of stuff, then it's back down to MO for awhile. I'm stopped in Lincoln, IL right now for food. This is the first time I've eaten all day, and luckily the Arby's here has WIFI. Also, even though it's still leaking pretty good, I think my mileage is back in the 25-26 range. It'd dropped down to about 20 on the drive down.
  14. Well I'd have to rent a U-haul truck and a dolly. I don't even want to imagine what that would cost for a 500+mile trip. Well I still haven't left yet... was really sick and tired when I woke up, so after fighting off the nausea, I went to sleep for a few more hours. Should be out of here by 2...

  16. Oh, yes it did. Just not on all 87s.
  17. Gearing all the same? When you put in your non-CAD axle, make sure to use the brakes that are on it. The brakes from your CAD axle won't work.
  18. Welcome to the forum! Got yourself a decent rig there. I'd check the alignment before you drive it around too much. Whoever swapped the D30 on there didn't center the steering wheel, so there's a good chance they didn't adjust the toe-in either.
  19. I don't have a picture, but I have tried. I was unable to do it. The wheels will not spin backwards.
  20. It was used in HO Jeeps as well, until sometime in the mid 90s
  21. Yes it is. There's two ways to test it. Pull the wires off and jump them together to bypass it, just get a small length of wire and two blade connectors, or replace it with a known good one.
  22. Check your fuel pump ballast resistor. If it'll run for a few seconds than die, that's a likely culprit.
  23. That's one thing I checked, I pulled the line out, wasn't able to blow through it, cleaned it out, was able to blow through it just fine, and the fitting in the intake manifold wasn't plugged at all.
  24. That would work, but it shoots all the way back to coat the underside of the truck, therefore hitting the rest of the exhaust. Another problem is I think it's pushing oil up into the combustion chambers(from the super high oil pressure), so it's smoking out the exhaust too. Add to that the horrible exhaust leaks, so it smokes everywhere. Once the money comes this XJ is getting a lot of work. Right now the patch jobs just need to last a few months.
  25. Looks like the right spring is bent inward on the bottom, but the left spring is perfectly straight. Is your tracbar adjustable?
