  1. Why does your computer have anything to do with posting pics?
  2. Fuel economy isn't really noticeable, since they ended up just trashing the system anyway. Your axle will be fine... again, since they did away with it anyway. Your tires won't notice a difference. It's not locking the axle, the open differential still functions normally. Only thing you may have to watch for is bad U-joints in the front driveshaft, if the 4wd wasn't used on a regular basis.
  3. Oops.. forgot the CAD link viewtopic.php?f=9&t=18415 Sorry bout that.
  4. You're missing some very important information... what gearing are you running in your axles? That's just as much, if not more important than tire size.
  5. The vacuum switch is for the CAD on your front axle. Pull the vacuum lines for it, plug the ends, and lock the CAD over. Simple write-up for that is here. On the later 231s (91+), the electric connection isn't for the CAD, as it was done away with. It's for the speedometer. 84-90 was cable driven, 91+ is electronic. The early electric senders simply screwed on where the cable goes, and converted it to an electric signal. The part that holds the speedo gear is the same.
  6. :wavey:
  7. Eh.. not really. The AX-4/5 is a pretty decent transmission. The 207, however, isn't the greatest. It may be a problem with your clutch and/or pressure plate if it's coming from the bellhousing. Best way to find out would be to yank the trans and t-case, and diagnose it on a bench.
  8. Uh... was it yours? :hmm:
  9. A guy I went to school with's dad had a ton of them. I mean, a ton. They had at least a 900 sq foot basement, and that's all that was down there other than the utility crap. Probably $10,000 invested in trains, track, and scenery. They had hundreds of unbuilt cars for "spares" I always thought it was fascinating, but a little too pricey for me.
  10. :clapping:
  11. Any 87+ 4wd 2.5L XJ/MJ/YJ/TJ with a manual will be an AX-4/5 /NP231 combo. I would verify where the noise was coming from (T-case or Trans) before you start hunting for donors. Cheaper to just grab a 231 than the whole thing.
  12. Let me know if I have this right... you removed the thermostat, and it was stuck open. That means it's shot. Why didn't you simply replace it, since it was already out? That's most likely causing your problems. They're like 7-8 bucks.
  13. The issue is with the clip that holds the speedo cable to the speedometer. If you re-use your original speedometer, you will be just fine.
  14. Do need to ask though... what year is your cluster from? You might have some speedo cable issues with mid87-90, and 91+ will not work.
  15. You won't have to relocate any wires. The cluster does all that for you. All you'll have to do is swap the temp sender for the gauge and sender for the oil pressure gauge.
  16. Why would he make his kid pay up for getting rear ended? That's like the one traffic incident that's not even partially your fault.
  17. Damn, I wish I had the money. I'd probably buy them out of most of it.
  18. Stage 2? How about Stage 454?

    SCAM WARNING!

    Ha... :needpics:
  20. We're you using 4x4 on dry pavement? Your backfiring is probably a bad O2 sensor or spark plugs, or a hole in your exhaust very close to the motor.
  21. I agree on just chucking it. So many better projects that's worth putting time and money into.
  22. My hometown in WI got nearly 14" between last night and today... but down here... pfft.
  23. You can use my place and raid my shed for parts.
  24. I'm 99% sure the AW-4 and AX-15 use the same mount, so a poly mount for the AX-15 should work for you.
  25. Take the bolt down to your hardware store and match it up.
