  1. Yeah I wasn't either. I'm getting some weird noises from the XJ.. again, and the drums drag for a bit if it sat for a few minutes... even though I just replaced the pads and got the warped drums off of there. May have to raid the 4.0 MJ for its drums. Seems to be the only good set I have.
  2. When ya leaving?
  3. I recently put a motor into an XJ that had been sitting for almost a year. After we got it all in, once we got it running, it shook like you wouldn't believe, and had a nasty knock. My mom's bf said he thought it had a collapsed lifter from the dry startup, even though it had been turned over by the starter quite a bit before it started running. Wouldn't be a bad idea to pop the valve cover off, get that gasket changed(probably leaks anyway), and do an oil change with that off. That way, you can poor oil directly on top of the lifters.
  4. Magic. Same reason new spark plugs fixed my tach, I would imagine. :dunno: It's possible that the new VC did indeed fix it, and the puddles you saw after changing it were from the oil still in the lines getting sucked out.
  5. There should be a tag on the rear section of the T-case, held in by a screw. I'm sure yours looks nothing like this one, but As far as attaching a T-case to a 2wd transmission, I believe that was only done on a BA 10/5. You can convert a 2wd trans to a 4wd trans, but you'd need the rear housing, and output shaft... by the time you're done, you might as well have just gotten a 4wd trans, since you need vital parts from one anyway. The AX-5 is not a rare transmission, you shouldn't have trouble locating one at a yard.
  6. A Transfer case will not bolt up to a 2wd transmission. You need a 4wd trans. Which "command trac" do you have? 207 or 231? What's it from? Also, your transmission will be an AX-5, not a T-5.
  7. I'll be there Saturday morning. Still don't know yet if I'm driving myself, or riding with Brent. I don't think I'll know that until Friday night.
  8. He's referring to the ambient temp and sunlight making the switch hot, not wires shorting out.
  9. Never on my Chrysler Jeeps, but I've had that happen to me on all my Renix ones with the GM key. Maybe it's the chrome finish.. maybe it's the long start time.. maybe it's both. :dunno:
  10. Pete, you planning on getting there at 4 pm, or leaving at 4 pm? I was planning on us getting there about 7.
  11. Senders are the same. I ran 88 4.0 senders on my 91 2.5 and everything worked fine.
  12. It factored in your T-case ratio. The T-case ratio is only relevant when calculating crawl ratio. Your 231 will have a 2.72:1 ratio when in 4LO.. HI range is 1:1.
  13. If you established a sales contract, then I believe you have all kinds of fun ways to sue them around the block.
  14. All MJs up to 91 had 10 inch drums in the rear. I had my 2.5 up to 90 the day I bought it.
  15. Is it just me, or does it look like it's had a fire before? Also, dat shure is a purdy lil' orange oil filter. Hope you take care of that asap.
  16. .....I believe so, yes. You mean that's not how they're supposed to be used?
  17. If you have another regulator sitting around, I would try that first. The most likely culprit is your fuel pump though, if you've recently changed the filter. It could also be your O2 sensor dying. If that's malfunctioning, the ECU may be dumping too much fuel, causing it to backfire.
  18. I'm betting the timing is fine. If the chain had jumped a tooth, it would run crappy all the time. Sounds like a fuel issue. Get your fuel pressure tester, at the rail running should be about 40 psi.
  19. Is the weather supposed to cooperate?
  20. As long as you don't try something like this, you should be fine.
  21. Geonovast

    90 2x4

    And the bra.
  22. I will certainly do my best to be there at that time. But since it's over an hour to get there, and I do not function very well that early in the morning. Hopefully I'll actually get up at 6.
  23. Since it's a stick, you can also break it loose with a ratchet. Put it in 5th, and have someone sit in it pushing on the brakes.
