I saw a thread or post on here a while back about the battery harness catching fire and it prompted me to check mine. I found it in VERY bad shape, but didn't realize how bad until I changed it today.

Simple. Magic.

 

But yeah you're very lucky. When we tore apart the first house I lived in there were bundles of wires that looked a lot like that sitting in the insulation in the attic.

Where and how much did you get the new wire set for/at?
I work in the parts dept at a Jeep dealership ;) . With my employee discount I got it for $69. :D Retail on it is about $115 if I remember right.

I am allowed to sell to friends at 5% over my discount so this particular item would run you $72.50 + tax & a few dollars shipping. May be able to get around tax if it is out of state shipping, but I would have to check on that. I am happy to do it for anyone here on anything that I can.

Here's one from a 91 4.0L, will work on Renix engines. Pulled it off when I upgraded my alt and electrical system. Needs the negative battery terminal fitted, but it's in good shape. $10 + shipping. Shoot me a PM if anyone wants it.

I did mine last summer when I put in the 200amp ALT. I put in new MUCH larger cables. MAN it sure spins fast and even starts a bit quicker as well!!

Here is my some wires. Top is a 4ga for the alt, second is the neg batt cable.

 

Here is what the cable ends turned out like.

 

Here is a shot of the alt.

 

Here is a shot of the batt with everything buttoned up.

 

 

The starting cables run of the cheby, side posts. The winch and 12v supply for the rest of the MJ run off the top posts. My batt shut off is also wired in off the side posts but not the winch. That has its own switch.

 

I have the crimper at work, picked up the wire from there as well. We revamped one of our old film/X-Ray machines and this was scrap wire from that. Just bought the correct sized shrink tube and connector from Granger's and put it together!!

Taz, you are correct. I bought some stuff from there and I think I put Rockstar on to them. They seem to have a pretty good inventory of older parts.

 

How is your inventory on older items for MJs? That's pretty cool of you to offer your discount to everyone here. With the reduced markup, do you still get a commission? If so, I'll definitely run all my OE orders through you.

 

Also, there is another site I found like Wholesale Mopar called newjeepparts.com, do you know who/where that dealer is? Just curious.

Thanks... Yes, I work on straight commission so my paycheck has been hurting with the downturn in the business lately ;) .
