STOLEN! My 88 MJ chief (RECOVERED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
LJRockstar replied to LJRockstar's topic in The Pub
WE FOUND IT!!!! My Buisness partner was walking the Jr. our LAZY guard dog, and spotted the MJ parked about 4 blocks from the shop! Stereo is gone, steering column is all messed up, and they punched out the door lock. Also my dimond plate tool box was taken from the bed. All in all not to bad really. I am Taking a break from putting in a column from a 93 XJ right now. I will need a new door due to the accident and now this. I have some cool ideas for what to do to it now Keep an eye open for a build thread in the future. -

Don't even joke! It had Basic coverage, so it being stolen wouldn't benefit me in the least -

If the insurance company took it, they STOLE it cause I never signed any papers nor did I receive any money. -
Eveyone keep your eyes on the internet auction sites, My 88 MJ chief was stolen on friday from in front of my shop in Philadelphia PA. There was recent damage from an accident. It was sitting awaiting the Insurance companys approval for payment. There are pics of it here: http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11025&highlight= If you see anything like it around let me know! It had an Alpine Stereo, HID headlights and JL speakers all the way around. Including a 10" sub and a JL amp. All well hidden but now probably crack money.

What do you think it will take....

Yes to all 5. -
To Fix this: Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Apparently MJ's aren't Bimbo proof! Loaned the Jeep to a friend to move some tires. He got 3/4 of a mile from the shop and this 18 Y-O blew a stopsign and this was the result. I am fearful that Insurance is gonna want to total it as KBB.com says one in EXCELLENT shape is only worth $2500 :headpop:

What movie are you talking about? Sahra? never heard of it. What's it about?

Well I just scrapped a few that look exactly like those but were BEAT UP. They are worth approx 17.50 per wheel to a recycler

If you are going to flat tow it, make sure you take out the rear drive shaft. The dana 300's will burn up the output bearing when flat towed in the neutral position. w/o the gears slinging oil the output bearing will go dry and eat itself pretty quickly. Otherwise good find! Love the old 5's I grew up riding shotgun while plowing in my dads 73 CJ-5.

clutch or slave or both are gone.
LJRockstar replied to shawn's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I agree with the mechanic on replacing the clutch if your in there, Murphy's law says that if you just replace the slave a week after you put it back together the clutch will start to act up. The clutch itself is actually pretty cheap in comparison to the slave cylinder, I just did it in mine about a year ago. Secondly it is a pretty time consuming job so that estimate is not unruly at all if you are going to pay someone to do it. Get a few other estimates and see if there are major variations in price. -
Wow good info! I will be calling the jeep dealer on monday to order the update kit for both doors! I might just have to go doorless for a few days just for the hell of it!

Thanks I tried the pin route just now, Realized I had a set of 93XJ doors that still had some of the hinges attached. Didn't quite get it al the way there, so I did the jack method right after and now the drivers door at least matches the passenger. Not quite perfect gaps all the way around but at least I won't get wet in the rain anymore! Thanks again guys!

My drivers door is sagging BAD. Short of cutting and re welding the hinges is there a way to replace the hinge pins? Are they even available? The welds on the hinges are in Good shape and I don't want to invite new problems by fixing and old one.

I recently replaced all of the heater hoses and the pressure bottle on my 88 All of the parts are available through the dealer at dealer prices. a lot of them are available aftermarket but you have to do some searching. I know the pressure bottles are all over ebay, not sure about the valve. mine was in good shape.

LJRockstar replied to Ben-88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Had this trouble on my CJ a few years ago and it turned out to be a cracked steering box bracket. -
