You have a pulley for a 2.5 PS pump? The one in the picture looks like an idler. I’ll take it if you have it.

That is not an idler. The idler is smooth with no grooves. The assembly looks like the bracket that holds the PS pump on my 2.5. The only thing that confuses me is the pulley should be attatched to the pump. Unless that is still attatched to the bracket also.

So how AMC set up the 2.5Ls without power steering on the serpentine belt setup was to just include the whole bracket with the ability to add power steering later on

Sorry to hijack this, but are the pulleys the same? Will a pulley from the non PS bracket fit on the PS pump?

I don’t have one to confirm such. But they do not look the same based on the first pic. This being said, the 4.0 and 2.5 share the same exact power steering bracket. You can use a 4.0 pump if you wanted as I know most of the time those have the pulley already on them.
