Porquer Posted August 27 Posted August 27 You have a pulley for a 2.5 PS pump? The one in the picture looks like an idler. I’ll take it if you have it.
JolietJEEP'84 Posted Friday at 07:19 PM Author Posted Friday at 07:19 PM Ive got whatever is in the picture. Honestly unsure what it is.
garyweb3 Posted Saturday at 10:31 PM Posted Saturday at 10:31 PM That is not an idler. The idler is smooth with no grooves. The assembly looks like the bracket that holds the PS pump on my 2.5. The only thing that confuses me is the pulley should be attatched to the pump. Unless that is still attatched to the bracket also.
Eagle_SX4 Posted Saturday at 10:44 PM Posted Saturday at 10:44 PM It could be a power steering delete pulley bracket. I have 4.0 one I can take a pic of later tonight.

So how AMC set up the 2.5Ls without power steering on the serpentine belt setup was to just include the whole bracket with the ability to add power steering later on

Will a pulley from the non PS bracket fit on the PS pump?

This being said, the 4.0 and 2.5 share the same exact power steering bracket. You can use a 4.0 pump if you wanted as I know most of the time those have the pulley already on them.
garyweb3 Posted Sunday at 08:13 PM Posted Sunday at 08:13 PM The PS pulley on my 2.5 is 5.25"diameter X 1" wide. Maybe the OP can measure the one he has to confirm it's the same.
