Nice! Hope the rest of your training goes well. It’s a lot of work! I’ve never flown a Cheif. Champs are nice to fly and still relatively attainable as far as airplanes go.

Very cool! Why did you do at Belanca? I grew up near the Twin Cities

Very good! It’s a 1945 7AC champ. My dad bought it with some friends back around 2005. It’s the first plane he ever owned, and the first plane I ever flew. He sold it in 2022, and shortly after that it was totaled in a ground loop. He bought it from the insurance company, and now we are doing a much needed full rebuild. If there’s interest, and if I have time, I may start a thread!

I removed the Sportruck decals. I’m liking the plain white work truck look. As far as appearance goes, the only things I would like to do are get larger tires to fill the wheel wells, re-finish the wheels and add some dress-up rings, and re-paint all of the black trim pieces to match the each other. it seems to run well, except at idle. It sounds and smells like it only idles on three cylinders. The weird thing is that it feels smooth and adequately powerful while driving around, like it’s firing on all four cylinders.

@ghetdjc320 I’m gathering parts to convert my 87 2.5 from manual steering to power steering. The wiring is already there, so it’s just a matter of finding the parts. I’m having trouble finding the switch in a wiring diagram, but I found it in a schematic, and it connects to C227. I assume it is a simple on/off pressure switch to ground. I may be able to get one from a different vehicle if the threads and closing pressure are the same. I’m in a bit of a junkyard desert.

My understanding is that it tells the ECU to increase throttle to avoid stalling under high power steering pump loads.

Looked at this one a long time ago on market place, but I don’t have any photos. It was out in Washington.

I’m looking for a power steering pressure switch, and it seems that they are no longer sold new. Has anyone used a newer style one, and spliced in a new connector? Or is there a source for these that I’m not finding?

Thank you much. Looks like it’s pretty loaded!

Yep, thanks. I figure at the very least can use the D30, maybe the 8.25, and some nice interior pieces. I also really want a set of wheel trim rings!
-
I definitely would like to do a 4wd swap. But mainly this one has interior parts that would be nice!

I’m considering it as a parts Jeep for my Comanche. Looking for more info on it. I know it’s 1991+ since it’s an HO.

IMG_1728.mov Here’s a short video at idle.

I’m trying to solve a rich-at-idle condition with my 2.5 TBI. I’m still learning my way around this system. My question: is it normal for the injector itself to be noisy? It makes a chattering/rattling sound that I can hear from the cab while sitting at idle. I have confirmed that the sound is indeed coming from the injector, or somewhere very near it within the throttle body.

June 2026 - Porquer's 87 Sportruck
Porquer replied to 89 MJ's topic in Comanche of the Month (MJOTM)
Thanks for the kind words everyone! I feel blessed to own it, and I’m enjoying learning from all of you. It’s neat to be featured this month specifically, because today is my Comanche’s build day. -
I’m starting to figure out peoples relative ages from this thread

I drove a 2003 Chevy Tracker throughout high school. Then I took it to college for one semester before selling it. Back then I had dreams of lifting it 😂

@garyweb3 where are you located? I’m in eastern Ohio.

I’m looking for parts to add power steering to my 87 2.5. Specifically a pump, reservoir, and steering box. I’m open either an XJ/MJ box or ZJ box.

I’m running 30” tires with 3.55 gears. Runs around flat ground just fine, struggles a little on the hills, but not unbearable for me. However, I don’t have overdrive.

From that plug, it looks like you’re running rich. -
Does anyone here have experience or opinions about the 2.5 to 2.8 Stroker that Titan makes? It seems like a neat idea, but I’m sure there’s a list of pros and cons…

Looks clean, but wow… that’s a lot of $$$
